I guess so

VR/AR devices are always hype because I own a Quest 2 for 2 years and felt like like it hasn't even been 2% of its capability. The softwares and games isn't enough good selection up to these days and all the home and applications designed based on 2d flatscreen too much even a keyboard seems like it ripped out of a smartphone

It’s a classic 1st gen Apple device. Mind-blowing in some ways, very clearly limited in others. I think it’s a great foundation. In the future they need to bring the price down, shave off a few ounces and make some better straps, nip and tuck some UI annoyances, keep optimizing 1st and 3rd party apps, continue to pump out more Immersive Video content including sports. I hope they put out an optional controller. I’m keeping mine! I love working in my Iron Man mixed reality space, escaping to a natural Environment, viewing spatial videos and panoramas, watching Immersive 180 videos and 2D movies in the Cinema environment. It’s nice to fall back on iOS; the ecosystem isn’t perfect but a ton of useful apps are available and reinforces that this is not just a gaming console. It took me a few days to dial in my strap but I can now wear it for 2-3 hours and am happy to jump back in after a 5-10 minute break. Maybe it’s because I’m an introvert but I don’t find it lonely; to me it’s peaceful and it helps me to focus. It’s not perfect but I didn’t expect it to be. It’s exciting to see how it will evolve over the coming months and years.

No matter how good looking the device is and how impressive it is, in the end of the day the main question is: "which so called problem can it solve"? We all have to try to look at any product and service as a so called "solution" for something. I can only see Vision Pro today as a tech demo. Same for the competition. Not a solution for something. It's not worth 3500 dollar plus sales tax. And also this: what kind of ROI can I hope for Vision Pro if I use it for any normal business? ROI is return of investment.

@@cjeelde I really don’t believe in forcing things into the “solving problems” paradigm. That’s the realm of infomercials: “Are you tired of…? Now introducing…!” True breakthrough products usually aren’t anything your average consumer asks for or even knows they want - they create new experiences. “They would have asked for faster horses” as they say. What problem does television solve? “I wish I could watch a play from a thousand miles away”? But if you need to formulate it like that, you could argue that the problem is that digital content has been trapped on glass rectangles for 40 years. We don’t see it as a problem because we’re used to it. But why should digital content, inherently free of physical limitations, be restricted to being displayed on flat 5-inch, 13-inch, or even 30-inch rectangles? Why should 3D content be viewed in 2D? Here’s a partial list of experiences I’ve had on my AVP that are not possible on traditional computers or phones: Left 8 full screen apps open simultaneously, able to just leave a family photo, an inbox, or a monthly calendar “over there” all day and just look at it when needed. Compared 6 AirBnB options at once, each in their own 3-foot full screen window. Monotasked and focused with one 5-foot MS Word window floating in the forest. Surveyed thousands of my photos simultaneously in a wall-sized mural, seeing a whole vacation over here, 2019 over here, 2015 a bit above that, etc. Went back in time appreciating dozens of panoramas I’ve taken over the years going back to 2012, in immersive 180. Put spatial videos in the clouds above Haleakala and felt like I was watching my life flash before my eyes. Rehearsed a keynote presentation in my own empty auditorium. Watched movies and TV in my own cinema; enjoying vibrant 3D versions that don’t dim or blur the image. Visited an impossible art museum that has Starry Night, Mona Lisa, and the Last Supper all in one room, at scale. Spent 1.5 hours putting together a 100 piece 3D puzzle of an Uzbek mosque, familiarizing myself with the geometric patterns in a way that would never have interested me by simply looking at a Wikipedia article. Went to a virtual lake (conducive to focus) and had a conversation with ChatGPT about topics ranging from processor design to treating a fever; it felt like talking to Computer on the Holodeck. I could go on. But “what problem does it solve”? I don’t have 8 floating monitors. I don’t have a forest, a cinema, or an art museum in my living room. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have a Meta Quest 3 which is great for games, but the resolution and user interface on the Vision Pro is far superior. Neither one is in the same league in which they each have their own advantages.

@@BobbieGWhiz far superior... I think it's closer to a 20% delta between both devices. Quest has slightly worse cameras, less advanced display... That's about it though.

@@davidcache Just curious, have you done the Apple Store Vision Pro demo (or tried one)? The demo I did gave me a different impression than you describe.

@@BobbieGWhiz trying the apple demo is how I ended up with the quest. I got a quest 3 before pulling the trigger on the vision pro. If the vision pro had a physical remote, I would have had a much better time. I have wandering eyes, astigmatism. Besides, I expected the quest to be less capable. Steam link over wifi6e is something I didn't know I needed. I had a copy of rez in my steam library... I dipped my toes into VR gaming on the quest 3. Once apple figures out pcvr, and put out a worthy remote... I'll buy one. Maybe two...

I’m a big Apple guy, but I’ve got a Meta Quest 3. Great for games! Vision Pro has much higher resolution and a much nicer UI.
