Thanks for stopping by. This demo is a follow-up to a workshop on prosthetic makeup, which I ran at West Liberty University in 2015. Here, you will find a tutorial on how to apply, color and remove prosthetic gelatin makeup appliances using professional special effects (SFX) materials. There are numerous places on the internet where you can learn how to do this. I would recommend the following books and other resources. Although this list isn’t complete, omission doesn’t imply that I would recommend a resource or not. Use your own judgement. Safety always comes first. Always make sure you have practice using the materials you might be applying to your own skin or to someone else.

This is very instructive! Why put glue, then powder, then the prosthetic, then 99% alcohol, instead of glue on both the nose and prosthetic and slam then together? Is it holding better? Is it to fix it better in place? Thanks a lot!

It does fix it better in place. The glue is called "Pros-aide". It's meant as kind of a "dry tac" adhesive. Basically it works best if you apply it to both the prosthetic and the skin and then "slam" together after they dry. The problem is that you will often want to reposition the piece. This means that it helps to make the adhesive non sticky. That's why you powder it. Now that you have glued skin, glued appliance, both made non sticky with powder, you can position the piece. The way to activate the glue again is with the alcohol (99%).
