Applications of Linear Equations | Work Problems

3 жыл бұрынWe solve some applications of linear equations. In particular, we solve the following two work problems:
1. Andy can paint a fence in 4 hours, and Ben can do the job in 6 hours. If they work together, how long will it take them to paint the fence?
2. One pipe can fill a tank twice as fast as a second pipe. When both pipes are opened, they fill the tank in 9 minutes. How long would it take to fill the tank if only the faster pipe is used?

Soopr explanation sir.. But having one doubt.. In the 1st sum, ans is 2.4 hr. How would u taken it as 2 hours and 24 min.. My doubt is that 24 min? 🤔🤔kindly reply sir

0.4 hr= 0.4hr*60minutes/hr=24minutes

You divide both sides of the equation by 2 to get the value of x.
