So update: I've been wearing the product for almost 4 weeks now, I did have to cut them down to natural nail length so I could play a computer game ha ha but they are still on, and super secure! I don't love the way it grows out, it is a lot thicker at the regrowth area then when I need an acrylic fill but overall I really like the system. I think it's a great system for DIYers and for myself for sure! Hope you like the video and check back for how I decorated them and some more videos using the system!

Sarah's Nail Secrets I love this system! I have a quick tip for if you’re doing them by yourself. I purchased the nail clips from www.enailcouture.com. Max sells them with his dual form kit but he also offers them separately. They work like a charm because you will be able to clean up the gel around and underneath the nail before curing. Also I purchased Apres other small lamp. It’s a lot better than that tiny one. Hope this helps! Teressa @teressab_love4nails

I love this system been using it on my mom for months. Now I am at the point of doing a fill instead of soaking off the set. My mom is not good at sitting still for long and loves a lot of nail art every 2 weeks. This system helps me with those issues. My goal is to convert my mom to a hard gel overlay with the fill ins. We are going on six weeks with her current set and she wants her nails as long as the apres tips.

My teen daughter does this type of nail and its amazing! We've found that many of her customers prefer these nails over acrylic because they appear more natural and they avoid the dreaded nail drill. She has done several test sets on me and they truly last for weeks. They also don't bust up my nail bed or cuticles like I've experienced at the nail salon.

I have been using these for the past few months, and I really like them. When curing you do not need to cure the whole nail at the same time, I usually hold at the cuticle area and cure the front and then switch to curing the cuticle area while holding down. Apres has a few videos on doing these on yourself. You can also file down the cuticle area of the tip before applying to make a smoother transition. I use a small cone carbide bit to clean up the cuticle area. Also to help with the flooding I apply a thin layer and then a small glob in the middle of the tip to help it spread more evenly. Also I found that if you start a little back from the cuticle and push the tip towards the cuticle you get less flooding and a smoother transition. I like these for special occasion nails, like prom and homecoming as they soak off easily and do no damage to the natural nail. Teenagers are not very reliable clients. lol

Hi!!! I figured it out a way to make an apres gelx hack easier!! I bought markarrt fullcover ballerina nails from amazon (faux apres gelx nails). I also bought resin gel (faux extend gel). Followed ur instructions and it worked.i used that brand and shape cause it looks natural and not bulky on my fingers. I have long nailbeds. I believe the apres nails arent gel. I believe They are really abs plastic nails. Within the chemistry industry, all of these terms are really chemically plastics: nailPolish, resin, acrylic powder, hard and soft gel are all types of plastics in liquid, solid, & powder forms. So legally they can call the nails gel i guess. The nails are thin at cuticle and sides and form an ok apex over the nailbed to stop breakage. Extend gel is a soft gel and an adhesive. A rep told me it was an adhesive. Its a soft gel cause it can be broken down in acetone. So resin is usually a liquid adhesive stronger than nail glue and used for silk wraps, lightless gel extensions, etc. i used resin in a gel form like extended gel and it worked. At first i thought extend gel was just a soft gel. So i used bmc and it worked for a couple of days then the fullcover nail fell off. I forgot u can use fullcover nails as dualforms. Then i knew that i needeed something to permanently stick to my natuall nail and The fullcover nail. The gel takes up the space inside the nail. I tried it again with bmc but put three drops of liquid resin inside the fullcover nail. It worked!!! Mixing resin with the gel didnt work well. But i knew it had to exist but how. I noticed apres has diamond gel which fixes crystals to the gelx nail. I works on itger nails too. i wanted to buy it since extend was always sold out.i looked it up on amazon and saw resin gel which was cheaper and led curable and binds the crystal to the nails-even display nails.its sold in america, and it disintegrates in acetone. BINGO!!! I paid $8 for 8ml of resin gel with 3 thin cheap brushes. I bought 500 abs fullcover nails for $8 on amazon. Already had the brush, dehydrator, primer, topcoat, and led flashlight and led flashlight. I remove them after three weeks. Sometimes do a fill with bmc softgel. I use ibd primer if i do a fill. Amazon has gelx nails for sale for $30. The extend gel is soldout many places. It sells for $20. $50 versus $16 aint bad. I was gonna order the nails and extend gel from apres BUT $18 shipping fee from cali to nc is ridiculous. And i dont like that they misled people in order to make money so much money on led glue gel and plastic nail tips (their tips are made nicely. Saw them closeup on another youtubers video). Well we have found a hack !!!!

You need a clear clip for dual forms to hold that nail down. I never liked full coverage nails, myself. Basically this is a set of full cover nails that glue on with gel? No builder or hard gel coats on top for strength? After doing nails for 25+ years and retiring, I am now free to play with my own nails all the time. I stopped wearing acrylic after about 30 years, a year ago and switched to gel and poly gel only. I *love* it, I will never wear acrylic again. My nails have grown out so damn long and curved, which is how I always wore them with acrylic and tips. Today just happens to be "nail day" for me, soak off all the old poly gel then figure out if I want to go with hard gel or poly gel for my 2 week vacation (when I won't have a chance to do a fill). Just found your channel a few weeks ago and subbed. I love your videos, informative, fun and you know what you are doing. Even though I don't do acrylic anymore, I still love watching all things nails.

I love this system to do on myself and perfect for teenagers or clients that just want extensions for special occasions! There definitely is a learning curve though. I thin out the cuticle area from the underside when I etch the underside of the tip before applying the gel and after they're applied and cured also. Handling the light for the flash cure is probably the hardest part! I have my daughter hold the light for me when I do it on myself. When I'm using it on a client I have the client hold the light for me while I press down by the cuticle area.

Definitely a learning curve to use but once you get it very easy. Just ordered the coffin tips. The one thing I didn’t like was the grow out area. Always seemed to have a small ledge. I’m now trying to file this down prior to application and using the efile after application to smooth out cuticle area.

It would definitely be easier to get the air bubbles out if you put a ball of gel at the cuticle area and then rocked it onto your nail bed. kind of like when you put your screen protector on your cell phone. You don't just plop the protector on and then try to push the bubbles out. You put one edge on first and then glided across so that no bubbles get in in the first place.

For those who don’t like the price of the kits, I’ve done this for years with acrylic. Tried with gel, hated it. Polygel is awesome for this. You DON’T need this kit. Just full coverage nails in any color or design if using acrylic (super cool cause you can color and decorate before applying) or clear full coverage if using polygel. Just make sure your tips are strong and they are just as good as acrylic or gel alone. Love it for a busy design that I can’t complete with my non dominant hand.

Key to them working well is to not cure the first layer on the nail. Brush on nail, the roughed up nail top with a blob on the cuticle edge, turn on lamp on its side and then put on the nail and hold in place up to the lamp. You need more gel then they recommend to keep bubbles away. So some clean up is needed around the edges and under. But if they are a little small for your nail it also fills in the space (so you don’t have a bunch of left over sizes when the perfect fit ones run out).

Omg...thank you for demoing this! I bought a kit a few months ago, but have only used it once because I really struggled holding and curing, and then my daughter commented on the small apex (glad it wasn’t just me). Plus, right after the edge of my natural nail, they dipped a little bit, and I’m not sure why. Please, I’d love to see you play with them more, as I need all the instruction I can get my hands on. Ultimately, it’ll be a great time-saver. There has been a thought running around in my head...what if a small amount of polygel is used on the tips instead of their gel glue? That might make it easier to cure. Hey, could you show the soak-off? When I did mine, I filed off the color first, and what I noticed is that the gel glue turned yellow.
@JaylahCatlin
@JaylahCatlin 5 жыл бұрын
Everyone is complaining about the price but when you consider everything that you’re getting in the kit it’s honestly cheap. The nail tips is made of gel, you get every single thing you need to apply the nails, AND a light. The nails last 3-6 weeks depending on your application and how vigorously you use your hands. With this system you can do 50+ applications. THE PRICE IS REASONABLE.

I honestly would rather use a polygel with Dual forms , Pop it's , Top it's , whatever everyone wants to call it depending where you live. You're basically doing the same amount of work if not more to be honest and the Polygel is a lot stronger. That's just my opinion though... and i'm someone that doesn't have time and sucks at doing my Non Dominant hand even though i've been a nail tech for 12 yrs lol so i use full nails , design them and glue them puppies on and they don't come off until i take them off.. so much easier and faster :) You can also use the nails that you're using here to apply polygel , anyone full nail / shape can be used to apply Polygel btw xoxo

Since you tried these and the regrowth area was a little chunky, maybe pop it tips are the way to go. There are a lot of different ways to use them. Finding super long options might be hard. That all being said, I am sure you'll figure out how to get what you have to work the way you want and be a time saver. Oh! There are clear clamps that you can get to help keep pressure on the nail.

Are the tip natural or sculptured ? If you have a led torch you can put it on a box or the end of the desk and you can then place the nail in front without holding it .

I'm a bit confused as to what they are, are these nail extensions made out of actual UV gel instead of acrylic or whatever tips and press on nails are usually made out of? Couldn't you just use transparent conventional tips with UV gel as a glue if you're on a budget and you can't afford this brand?

Thanks for this video. I keep eyeing these and can't decide! Every time something seems like a shortcut for doing my own nails it never turns out as good as just takin the time to sculpt. But the idea of not really needing to shape or debulk is appealing. Can't wait to see how you dressed them up. 😀 Did you buy them from their site direct? I'm in Canada and am wondering if they slapped you with any duty when you got them.
@SarahsNailSecrets
@SarahsNailSecrets 6 жыл бұрын
I DID pay duty and it was like.. $40!!! I should have mentioned that in the video ha ha it was expensive to get in for sure. But I really like the easy application for when I need a set and don't have time. So idk it's tough its pricy

I think these would follow the guidelines of the dual forms with gel. When you had the tip over the nail the apex was higher. I think it’s similar to the dual forms in the sense you have to add a decent amount of product that way 1. It’s easier to get rid of the bubbles 2. You don’t have to push down so much and won’t end up flattening the apex. Some may come out at the sides but normally just wipe it off with a brush dipped in alcohol before curing. It seems interesting but I feel you could literally buy regular full cover tips and do it, just have to be sure to file the inside.
@SarahsNailSecrets
@SarahsNailSecrets 5 жыл бұрын
Totally! The difference is the tips are made with gel and not plastic but I get what you mean
@Cheyennerae

Ya it totally gets easier and when your filing the inside you can file around the edges to make the grow out less thick :) I love gelx ps. there is a way you can rig up your regular lamp to be able to press down on yourself.

CAT EYE NAILS How do you rig up the lamp? Are you referring to the GelX lamp? Thx😍
@Cheyennerae
@Cheyennerae 6 жыл бұрын
So I'm referring to your regular curing light. What I do is sit the lamp on the edge of your desk and use it without a bottom. It's kind of hard to explain. You can flash cure and hold your nail down at the same time this way.
@SarahsNailSecrets
@SarahsNailSecrets 6 жыл бұрын
i was thinking that would be good too as my KS lamps have the bottom that removes and they're huge so that might be a good alternative

I have worn these types of nails for a couple of years now and you are not capitalizing on great perks. You should decorate them before you place them on your fingers. You have total control and can create the most amazing things with more control and dexterity. I put them on plastic wall hooks you get from the dollar store. Additionally I put them on using acrylic...no bubble problem. don't paint it on place a good size ball at the top of nail and roll it down holding it down with the next finger , use a cleaning tool to wipe excess off, No light needed. You will feel them suction down. These nails feel more like natural nails. You can do normal things like get a good scratch in. They are perfect every time..

Are they bendable, like if your nail is really curved in can you pinch the tip. Is it flexible or rigid?

Do you think it would be okay to use regular nail glue with these? I wanna make them into finished press ons I can sell but obviously people will only have regular nail glue to use to hold it on. Idk if the gel nail will have a bad chemical reaction to the regular nail glue? What do you think

Since the lamp is so little couldn’t ya hold down the nail by pushing down on just the tip so the lamp is curing the gel on the bed. Does that make sense?
@SarahsNailSecrets
@SarahsNailSecrets 6 жыл бұрын
Ya I think there is a few ways to do it where you can get the light and have it held down haha someone suggested pinching tools that might work too
@carolynbrooks892
@carolynbrooks892 6 жыл бұрын
It's kind if like using the dual forms, which is what I do for myself to make it easier. Pinching tools would work a lot better. Holding the tip can create uneven pressure causing the back to open (again just from personal experience with gel and the dual forms)

Hello! I’m a hair stylist and have been getting acrylic for years, I’ve been wanting to try something else and was wondering if this is a good for some who works with there hand and tends to get their hands wet often? I’d like to add that regular gel polish with no acrylic peels right off my nails within days even before I was a stylist.

I actually get my nails done this way. I hate the drill and acrylic messes up my nail so much. Dont get me wrong the gel isnt great either. But this just works better for me and it lasts longer for me too and they ste sturdy too. And I work with aircraft parts. But you cant fill these. You need a new set everytime...I fell that's the only downside for me. U should have put more gel in that extension. The layer was too thin. But they look awesome!
