Not to mention all the other great live action shows from the '80s and '90s like Hey Dude, Clarissa and Salute Your Shorts. And why show all those Double Dare promos over and over when THEY NEVER SHOW DOUBLE DARE ITSELF? There was great stuff on Nickelodeon prior to 1992 but it never gets shown. I had high hopes for The Splat when it showed two episodes of YCDTOTV on the very first night, but it's turned into the biggest of disappointments.

I think the real lesson to be learned here is, never trust Ross. One would think Moose would have learned that after doing the show for five years by this point. LOL The episode, by the way, is "Holidays" (1984).

+ThisIsWEB Yep! I believe it used to be made with a tapioca pudding base. Even more interesting, I believe YCDTOTV is a Canadian program which itself might pre-date Nickelodeon, but I could be wrong about the age of the program.

You're correct. YCDTOTV premiered on CJOH-TV in Ottawa in February 1979 and was a Canada-only show until Nickelodeon started showing episodes in January '82. It continued to be produced at CJOH throughout its entire run. There was also a prime-time network version of the show on CTV in Canada in the fall of 1979 called Whatever Turns You On, but it bombed and was not renewed.

The original slime in 1979 was actually food leftovers from the TV station cafeteria that had turned green with mold. It happened by accident and was only used once. After that they started making it with green gelatin powder, flour and water so that it still looked gross but wouldn't harm the kids if it got in their mouths. Later on it became a mix of oatmeal or cream of wheat with green food coloring and some shampoo added so it would wash out of the hair more easily, and I've also read that by the final seasons of the show it was simply cottage cheese with green food coloring added.

I loved watching this show when i was a kid. Im now 34 and wish my kids had decent fun TV to watch these days not like the crap thats on there now

Anyways it always has the classic Nickelodeon slime this was the first show that had Nickelodeon slime every time the kids say I don’t know well that’s weird like ever time I say the word puppy the mad tv kid will come god he’s creepy

EXACTLY! I see people describe it as "SNL for Kids" or "Laugh-In for Kids" but what it REALLY was is Hee Haw for kids, even had music in the very beginning.
