April Notes | How I jammed my Minc (and what I did to fix it)

Hi, and welcome to my channel!
Today's video is showing how much I royally jammed my MINC Mini and how I took it apart to unjam it. WARNING: Not for the faint of heart! :)
My tip to everyone is to read all of the packaging before using items in your MINC --especially when it comes to laminating folders. But….if you've already jammed your machine, this shows what I did to take it apart, unjam the machine, and then put it back together.

Last night I jammed my mini minc doing exactly what you did! I googled how to unjam a mini minc and found you. Thanks to you and your great video I was able to take the whole thing apart took the jammed paper out. Struggled a little to get it back together, but I did and it now works. I'm so grateful to you for this video and really proud of myself too! Thanks so much!

Thanks for this video. I jammed my machine and was afraid to open it. But I removed the screws and was able to reach the jam. I was also able to remove it without removing the inside screws. You saved me from having to trash the machine. Your awesome. Thanks again!!!

OH MY... I think I LOVE you ;) I did exactly what you did, put my laminating pouch through thinking it'll be OK and then I cried, I know, I know, there's worse things going on in the world, but, you see, it's not my machine !!!, I took the screws out the bottom and then I was stumped, so I searched You Tube and there you were !! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for mentioning and showing the little screws inside on the metal plates !! Anyhoo's I took it all apart, as you showed, got the offending item out, put it all back together and TA DA !!!! It works perfectly. I don't think I've ever wrote such a long comment on YT before, but this was worthy of it. Oh, and did I say THANK YOU ;) xxx

You are so welcome!! I can't stress enough to let the machine cool down completely before attempting any type of disassembling. I learned that it stays very hot for a long time, so I let it cool overnight. Good luck!

My EXACT problem also using the Scotch laminator sheets. Lesson learned. Genius in taking out those last two screws. I could not, no matter what I tried, get the top front of the case to snap back on, but it still works and I figure it will jam again. It was tough getting the top off, so now for next time it will be easier. Thank you!

You are so welcome! It was a hard lesson for me to learn for sure! I did have difficulty in snapping the top casing back on..it took a harder push than I wanted to do to get it to snap back on. Happy I could help!

Omg thank you so much for this video! My dumb behind decided I was going to foil vellum without using a carrier sheet (yes, I just put the foil on top of the vellum and ran it through, all while recording my next video for my channel 🤦🏾‍♀️). As I'm sitting there, I realized the vellum is not coming out on the other side. Then, it happened, my worst nightmare of getting a paper jam in my Minc. I've had my Minc since they first introduced them at the Stationery Show so I was frantic! But your video hopefully saved the day. I'll have my husband take it apart tomorrow (once it cools) and then hopefully I'll be back to my next video tomorrow.

Thank you, you are a champion! I just took my large misti apart and removed the jam. It was not easy but thanks to you I thought it might be possible. I couldn't get both the front and back to 'click' back together though, just the front. I think the back is very annoyed with me because of my irresponsible behaviour!

I jammed my Minc but it wasn’t because I feed anything through it incorrectly! For some reason the Minc ate a Heidi Swapp Minc Pouch. I don’t know why. My Minc was really a mess because it was 6”x12” and more than half was stuck in it! I watched this video and got it out! It was a lot in there and I had to use pliers to get it all out! I put it back together and it works! It smokes a little and has a smell because a little of the melted plastic is still in there but it works...thanks. I’m only going to use paper carriers from now on! I have a laminator so I haven’t needed to use my Minc for laminating!

Just jammed mine up and the first thing I did was turn it over to see if I could take it apart. Then I searched and you popped up first. Thanks. Wish me luck because my laminator pouch is totally rolled inside!! Ugh.

Were you able to gets yours open? 😭 I can't seem to get the middle of the cover to separate from the base. I don't know how to get to any hidden screws.

Apologies! I am just now seeing this message. If you still have the machine and need to get it apart, I noticed on mine that pulling it apart felt like I was forcing it also, but it eventually snapped apart. Good luck!

So i did the exact same thing to my minc machine.. are we not supposed to use regular paper? Lol i put a piece of regular paper and mine jammed up and now i cant figure out how to fix it haha..

I’m searching how to remove a large laminating sheet that is completely stuck inside my full size Minc. You CAN use other brands of laminating sheets but you MUST always put the sealed side of that sheet into the Minc FIRST. That’s where I put wrong. I didn’t notice I had accidentally put in the unsealed end first.

I agree with what Starla said below. I read the instructions and they said to load the sealed side first. I also have found using a heavyweight cardstock helps. I use #80 or #110 Neenah cardstock.

@@starlitetaylor Something to realise is that the motor will not move when the power is switched off. This means tugging at the sheet will most likely break the plastic holding the motor and gears in alignment (this happened to ours). That's bad news. The good news is that it's fairly easy to disassemble the Minc foiler. Just follow my instructions to remove the motor so that you can freely pull the sheet out of the rollers. You shouldn't need to remove anything more than the covers and the motor. If there are any broken bits of plastic then you might need to carefully glue them back in place. This might revive your foiler for a bit longer. Take out the 6 deeper screws on the underside of the unit, then pop the top cover off. Now you can also remove the 4 other screws as you'll notice they're holding the massive heating/rolling unit in place. The motor is on one side of the unit and you'll need to remove it. There are three screws in total to remove - don't touch the ones holding the motor itself as their removal isn't necessary. Once the motor + plastic holder is away, you can freely move the two rollers (two cogs each, they should move with a bit of resistance). Feel free to pull out the sheet now. Let me know if the instructions worked.

Hi, I'm not sure about that. I have never replaced my motor. But I would suggest reaching out directly to the Heidi Swapp company first to see if they may service the machine. Sorry I can't be of more help!

T-T it didn't work for me, I did managed to take out the stucked plastic but after putting it back together and turned it on, it just stays at heat "0" it doesn't go anywhere alse T-T fosg I don't have the money to replace it

oh wow I opened it again and there was this little tiny piece with cable that needed to be attached again and it heats now BUT there is a lot of smoke, like A LOT T-T
