Hey all - this is just a short update from us at Ghost Note Audio. We've had a crazy weekend with order for the Conductor Midi controller piling in, and I wanted to address some questions and comments that people have had about the the product, and give an update on where we stand.

Congratulations on your success, and thank you for your clear strong work ethic! It's enjoyable to hear that the person behind a product I'm interested in is invested in improvements. I was going to purchase today, but this suggests I might benefit from waiting for future planned updates. In response to this video, what I would recommend as far as motorized faders are concerned is perhaps a small upper right "Update" button (your pointer finger could easily reach) that allows the person to choose when they want the fader to "read" what the present channel data is and then move to adjust. This way there is no surprise changes or constant updating issues, and all it takes is a 'tap' of the button to get the fader to update and move to the channel's CC reading exactly when the user needs it to. Just a thought.

Awesome, good to hear! - We try to dispatch all orders within 2 working days, and Royal Mail have been doing an excellent job on the next day deliveries :) - Shipping to the US has also been incredibly fast, usually being delivered to customers in under a week. Not a single order held up in customs, etc. Sadly, EU countries get the short end of the stick as the customs agencies are extremely aggressive and often take several days to evaluate shipments, but most deliveries are still showing up to customers within about 10 days.

Absolutely avoid motorised faders for a controller like this. You’re bringing a great product to market.

I can see you have a lot of character and place importance in your buyers. Keep up the good work and I will be ordering one as soon as possible. Kudos!

To be honest I love motorised faders on my mixing desk but for a midi controller like this I actually wouldn't need or want it. Controllers for things like midi CC are generally just grab and go and motors would potentially get in the way. So I'd still like the option of a passive unit or at least be able to turn the motors off especially when recording acoustically. I always turn my desk motors off during recording as I don't want the sound of them bleeding onto the mics.

Huge props to taking feedback and looking at implementing changes super quick. On USB-C drop I'll be ordering for sure! With these updates, do you think the price will increase for the new iteration? Will the current units be sold at a reduced price? Or do you not have excess stock of the current build.

Nice to see updates, great to get all the feedback to work with, as a small business its a great opportunity. Quick question I was thinking of, in terms of auto mapping are there scripts that exist which can do that for you? I’m not very tuned in on that subject. It’s an obvious advantage that NI has for example, in their keyboard range. I think it’s big added value to the market. Faderfox may have done this at some point, and I think other makers too to some extent but not really sure how that works.

you could litteraly just offset the mounting of the pico and use a usb micro to usb c adapter. It's not like you need the bandwitdth of usb-c

Something like this was my first thought. However, there are more things that lurk under the surface. USB-C is a significant deviation from previous USB standards. what you're suggesting would work when connecting to a USB-A port, or when using a USB-C to C cable with an E-marker chip (used in high power cables). It will even work on some PC motherboards which don't fully respect the USB-C specification in order to improve backwards compatibility. It will however fail to be recognized on Apple hardware, using a bog-standard USB-C to C cable, because this is NOT a USB-C compliant use-case. A lot of my customers are running M1 Macs or newer, and the whole idea of the unit having USB-C on the device is so you don't need a special cable, so it not being spec-compliant completely defeats the purpose. I know because I made this mistake 2 weeks ago, *after* I had proudly told several customers I could offer them an upgrade to USB-C, only to have to backtrack on my words, as it wouldn't work with the most basic cables, which everyone uses. That was an incredibly sad and uncomfortable pill to swallow, and I really, really don't want to disappoint people again. So I'm going to be extra cautious with this upgrade 🙂

@@GhostNoteAudio Ohhh woooow :D Thanks for your in depth reply, I didn't even thought of compliancy issues, that's a crazy detail. Say do you hang on some discord community servers where people share midi projects etc?

My interest in the unit is because the faders are set wide as I also have bear paws for hands. I hope to get one of your controllers before the re-design. Motorized faders are of no use for me within this application.
