Aprilia RS 660 - First Ride (BRAND NEW)

This video was recorded back in May 2021. If that's any indication on how far behind I am on posting videos then I guess I got to step it up..! Anyways here is my first ride with my brand new Aprilia RS660 2021-model. As you can tell I am pretty excited, but trying to constrain myself at the same time.

Great review mate! Subscribed after watching it. I ordered the new R7 (due December in Australia) but given the comparison to the RS660 I think I might have to spend a bit more and change my order.

Thanks! I really like this new segment of bikes coming out, but I haven't been able to test the R7 yet since it has not come to Norway yet.. I've got a lot of great things to say about the RS660 so I wouldn't say "don't get one" ;)

Grattis! Sykkel som ble vurdert i år, men ble en '21 MT-09SP. Har jo ikke opplevd MT09 kraftpakken så havnet på det kjøret haha

Thank you! Height 185cm, inseam 85cm. One of the best bikes I've sat on. I always have an issue with my knee being a little too far down on the tank/frame on most bike. this was great though!

have you driven any Supermotos ? because I got my first bigger bike like 4months ago (an swm sm 125 r) and it's super fun to drive

I'm no expert, but it's my understanding that it acts like a "glass/clear" layer over the paint.

Definitely has less power and torque than the MT-09! The power comes a bit later and with less peak, but it doesn’t feel power-less compared!

@@MrDrakenhoff unfortunately this is vastly because of euro 5 emission compliance but it is not impossible to change the behavior of the engine. A free-flowing exhaust and a good map tuning is enough to make the engine feel spicier. Anyway there are things pretty hard to change. I heard from an aprilia engineer that in order to be compliant with euro 5 emission standards they had to make a compromise choice for camshaft timing and duration that touches the limits of valve opening speeds and valve acceleration at higher rpm to allow as little valve overlap as possible to limit the amount of unburnt hydrocarbons in the exhaust. With a different camshaft the engine could be more powerful and peaky with much more torque up high in rpm. Also the velocity stacks with different lengths for left and right cylinder are tuned to smooth out the power delivery over the entire rpm range. So a pair of shorter, equal length velocity stacks would be beneficial for engine max output (at the expense of a lower torque down low and less drivability at lower speeds).

@@MrDrakenhoff I have one 🙂 but I can’t get rid of the fear that I look might too big on it 🤔. I’m 188cm and slim. What’s your opinion on how you look on the bike?
