Happy New Year to all my subscribers and general viewers. Thought I would do a quick update on how the Aprilia SR GT is coping with it’s first Scottish winter.

Have appreciated your videos, and the response time gave to my comment on other video you did. I went and bought one yesterday, the sport model in red, and am definitely thinking of copying some of the modifications you've made. Cheers. I can't wait for bike to arrive, comes on Friday. I'm 5 foot 9 and did ok for sitting on it and putting feet down while I checked it out in showroom.

@@scottishzoomer Cheers mate. Ill let you know how I get on with it. Its a beautiful machine up close, I'd already made my mind up before going to see one and sit on it, but it definitely made me feel I'd made a good choice.

the tool to adjust the pre compression is normally delivered with a small pipe going on one or the other part of the “V -shape cut out”. Exactly to allow to turn the presetting ring despite the narrow access. done in 10 sec in my case. 85 kgs + 40 L top case + some time duo. i was directly going to the max pre compression setting

Thanks for the information, someone else mentioned the small tube but I don’t think I got one. Never mind, got it done in the end

My accessories came with a small hollow tube that, after much trouble in not managing to adjust the right rear shock with only the sickle, I found that they both go together and the whole adjusting the pre-charge thing becomes just about manageable.

That’s interesting, thanks. I’ll have a look in my owners pack and see if I have one 👍

I have the same issues with the shocks. I sometimes ride two up, and bad roads I can feel they are reaching there limits. Fortunately, I am close to my dealer here in Taiwan, so I asked him to adjust to max. Yes, they are a bit awkward to adjust, even with using the tube. Helped, but not much.

Nice Bike, probably being piaggio and all that looks very similar to my vespa underneath, which needed just a 24mm spanner for the drain plug. I changed the factory oil filter one for a K & N one off amazon which has a 17mm nut on it so I wouldnt have to bother messing with an oil filter strap again. As long as you use the right oil, filter etc hopefully your warranty should be fine. Once I did the first oil change on the vespa engine felt much nicer so hope your aprilia is the same. thanks

Thanks very much, it’s a lovely bike to ride. I’ve emailed K&N to check if the filter I think will fit this bike, actually does. I’m almost certain a KN-183 will do the job but better safe than sorry. Almost at 600 miles so will do the oil/filter change once I hit that. I’ve always tended to change engine oil more regularly on my previous scooters than the manual suggests, helps keep the engines running sweetly.

Hi, do you know how to change the mileage reader from Kilometres to Miles?
@scottishzoomer
@scottishzoomer Ай бұрын
Hi, this is direct from the manual: with the ignition switch turned to off press and hold the mode button and simultaneously turn the ignition switch to on. Release the button, the icons mi, km, C, F will flash. Briefly press the mode button until the desired icon is displayed steady. Press and hold the mode for at least 1 to 5 seconds to change the unit of measurement - Hope this helps

Hi, I’m lucky that the flats I am in have a dedicated locked area for people to keep cycles, scooters, prams etc in so my bike is fairly safe

Might be a project for the future, the stock ones don’t bother me enough to warrant the expense at the moment

The dealer you got your bike from takes 70pound to service your bike under warranty I bought my bike from the same dealer 5 year ago and I just serviced It myself I did ask them to change my coolant and they took bike into there work part I had two bottles of unopened green coloured coolant unopened but the coolant in bike was red coloured I went to pick bike up guy sayed coolants been changed payed 30 pound they gave me back one bottle of my coolant unopened back saying they only needed to use one of the coolant bottles I supplied so I drove home opened the front fairing on bike and coolant was still pure red coloured so what they did was pretend they changed my coolant in the knowledge that I never knew the stuff I supplied was green coloured but I knew it was green coloured as I bought it online as it was a better coolant that the bike had in it from new I never sayed nothing but it cost me 30 pound for nothing I ended up changing the coolant myself as I had one bottle left so it cost me one of my bottles of coolant I supplied and 30pound on my debit card I never sayed nothing I left it at that my April's SR hasent let me down I have done rear clutch and wheel bearings and really done the work myself .can I ask where you got those shock covers from and if they can be used on front shocks as I had to replace my front fork seals and change the fork oil because when driving in bad weather small bits of grit hit your front forks if it's raining they stick then they get trapped at your fork seal caps then the grit goes down and bursts your suspension seals causing fork oil to come out your forks the grit bursts the seals after getting under fork seal caps but those shock covers would be good for front shocks

Hi Stephen, thanks for the info. They always say dealers don’t make money off the bike sale, they make it off the servicing and that seems to be true. I’m just doing the first oil change myself using branded products. When my Zoomer needed work on it’s rear bearings and final drive gear the dealer quoted me £600 for the labour alone so just ordered the parts and learnt how to do it myself. The rear shock covers I got from: www.coilovercovers.com they are better quality than some of the cheaper ones available via eBay etc. I haven’t looked at front shock covers but you’ve put the idea in my head now so will investigate.
