This simple living video is a cosy treat! With beautiful autumn scenery, comfort food from my cosy cottage kitchen and heating up by the cottage fireside. Bliss!
Living in an English village, the surrounding countryside is stunning at this time of year. It's my favorite time for crisp morning walks and taking in the beautiful village surroundings. It's great to clear your mind and perfect for getting the fresh air we all need!
I've also included my favourite easy cheesy snack - yummy English comfort food - Yorkshire Rarebit - adapted from my grandmother's recipe. I hope you enjoy this silent cooking video and get your dose of wholesome Yorkshire life!
Yorkshire Rarebit Recipe:
50g butter
3 tbsp flour
Stout or strong ale (and some for a quick drink)
About 200g Cheddar cheese
1 tsp English mustard
Henderson's Relish (I like to use lots)
Slices of rustic bread (I used Sourdough for extra crunch)
Serve with a nice hot cup of tea!

Warm and cozy and happy! 🥰🍂🍁 I love autumn and this season of thanksgiving here in America… I live in Texas… the leaves are changing and beginning to fall and the days are cooler. My favorite comfort foods are soups, chili con carne, and stews. For this Texas girl there is nothing better than piping hot, spicy chili topped with cheese, jalapeños, and avocado. 🥑🌶 Thank you for another gorgeous video - it’s fun to see how others enjoy this beautiful fall time of the year! ❤️

I live in Lanzarote. Here the autumns are mild so the dishes we prepare are lighter like a hot seasonal vegetable soup. I like to accompany it with a plum, pear and quince pudding with fresh cream. I love your videos, simple and precious❤️

Thank you, this video was just perfect!! I was feeling unsettled today. I watched a KZfaq influencer who seems to have this perfect life, 1 million dollar home etc. etc. and it was making me feel discontent with my own small cottage home and life. Then I took the time to watch your video (before I curl up with Little Women and my cat) and it really grounded me and helped me appreciate more of the simple things in life---which is how I want to live anyway.

Oh I'm so sorry you were feeling unsettled :( I think we're led to believe these things - and of course many people will only show you the highlights and what they want you to see. I'm sure the influencer has a wonderful life, but so do you - you don't need me to tell you about comparison being the thief of joy, but maybe you just needed a little nudge to remember what you believe it and who YOU are :) Small cottage... sounds wonderful to me and I always say, your home is your castle! It's hard sometimes to see the path we're supposed to be on, and then just like that, it appears clear, and it doesn't matter if others are on other paths, smile at them, wave, but get back on your path and enjoy every step! I'm so glad my video helped you, that's made my day... I live in a small cottage too - less to clean! hehehe xx

It means so much to me, and it holds so true with how I try to live my life---simple, quiet, and non-materialistic and I did need to get back onto my own path again. =) Another little thing, your snack looked soooo yummy but I am vegan so I searched the internet for a similar cheese sauce. I found the perfect recipe, and I made myself a grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast this morning with my new dairy-free cheese sauce and it was soooo delicious!! This recipe is definitely a keeper and it's thanks to your video!! Have a lovely day!

I have just found you when this world 🌎 is getting more insane each day and all we are being fed (if we let it) is fear and negativity. I’m not prepared to play this game. I’ve been widowed for quite a few years now and love walking in the crisp cold air in early evening here in Lancashire, looking in wonder at the lovely autumn colours with my dog Pippin. Coming home to our cosy place he snuggles down near the fire with a biscuit bone 🦴 and I curl up with a good book, a cup of hot chocolate and a piece of homemade butter shortbread ….reminds me of days spent at Grandma’s as a child - just bliss. 😊 Thank you for a wonderful video, I will follow you regularly now I’ve found you 😘 many blessings 🙏

My Quaker ancestors left Yorkshire for America in the 18th century but my entire life I’ve had a strong pull to England and Yorkshire in particular. I’m a gran now and it’s still there. Your videos truly warm my soul. I am always amazed at the rustic beauty of the countryside on your walks. The rare bit on the sourdough toast looks amazing. Absolutely lovely! I feel such a closeness to our Creator when I’m in nature. Your walk was wonderful! My mother’s vegetable soup was always my favorite warm up food. She’s passed on now. I make it just the way she did but somehow it’s not as good. Thank you for blessing my evening!

I loved this video and plan to watch more. Often the sound of food being prepared can be just as appetising as the smell and appearance. The sound of tea pouring out of the pot and the bread being sliced was great. These videos are sincere and wholesome compared to some other videos I have watched involving other cultures. I get a sense of being "nourished" after watching your videos. I loved the natural sounds that you captured of the water, the kettle whistling and the bread being sliced - bliss! This may sound weird, but one of my favorite meals is beans and cornbread! The pinto beans are cooked all day in a slow-cooker (or in a big pot on the stove or fire) with some added salt, baking soda, bacon and a little bacon grease. Make the cornbread (cornmeal, flour, etc. or from a mix) and have a green onion on the side. Drink coffee with it while watching a Western on television, or reading a Western book! This is what Farmers' families in rural America ate quite often a hundred years ago, and was often all they had. (from Missouri, USA)

Just lovely, it eased my hectic life as I face a house move this weekend to my forever home, many miles from what I have always thought of as home . Where I carved a career and raised my family. As an empty nester I looking forward to a whole new exciting life. I am glad to take memories, family and friendships with me.. and of course channels just as yours x

So very cozy. My comfort food is sourdough bread toasted with butter on one side in a cast iron pan to give it a nice crisp. Top it with garlic salt or a tasty balsamic glaze. This along with a bowl of French onion soup and being in nature feeds my soul. I had never heard of rarebit before. Thank you for teaching me something new :-)

Love the black boots girlfriend, you have such good taste! LOL, I love books so when you flashed that cover I was all ears. While kings and queens are interesting, I'm always on the lookout for stories by people who are "ordinary" especially the individual accounts of women because their stories even in 2021 aren't told enough. What a treat!!! I must say...girl, you've got style! Your coat...your boots..your barret...perfection! What beautiful countryside. I love the Autumn colours as well. I appreciated the shot of the black birds against the stark sky...each morning on my walk I specifically watch for those. 😊 Your toasted cheese is next level. When I was growing up my mother would throw a slice of processed cheese on white bread and put it under the broiler until the top burned. Hahaha. It makes me cringe now but back then... well...I ate it. Lol Stunning video. I so appreciate you and your channel. My absolute favourite. Xo
