Haunting Love Story | English Countryside Views | Slow Living Kitchen | Wholesome Family Cooking
#slowliving #englishcountryside #wholesomefamily #slowlivingkitchen
I love local stories - especially ones of love and romance. So when I visited Boot's Folly, I was excited to find out its history and its story. I was not disappointed, and neither will you be.
This aesthetic, silent vlog holds beautiful English views at its heart and
I hope you find this to be a soothing, calming video - sit back, slow down and relax.
I love being closer to nature, so this enchanted walk in the English countryside was welcomed quiet time, to think and reflect. It felt like I was in a gothic romance novel - maybe I was! I'm biased, but this English scenery is stunning - it's reminds me of Wuthering Heights and other evocative reads.
If you're looking for a simple wholesome recipe to feed your family, then you'll not go wrong with my Traditional Cottage Pie. It's delicious if I do say so myself...luckily the family agrees too! So join me in my Slow Living Kitchen while I make a simple cottage pie.
RECIPE
I never follow a recipe for my Cottage Pie, it's something I picked up from my Mummy! But the BBC have a Cottage Pie Recipe that is similar to mine and you'll be able to see the differences to pick what suits your taste best!

Reading all these comments it’s interesting to see how many people long for this simpler, more spiritual life in touch with their surroundings. I think the pandemic has made us more aware of that so perhaps the only good that’s come out of it all! But your videos are very beautiful, well put together and inspiring and your recipes are delicious. I tried your lemon curd tarts and they were lovely.

The way you present on KZfaq is so wonderful. Normally the presenter seem to like themselves more than what they have to say. You actually have something to say, yet we never see your face. You make the subject really the subject. Hope that makes sense, it’s hard to express what you think in a language that’s not your own. I’m from the Netherlands. I don’t know how I stumbled upon your video, but I’m really glad I did. Your videos are calm, friendly, nice and cosy - as are you I think - and it makes me feel safe and at home. So:: thank you from the bottom of my heart 💜

Hauntingly sublime video, dear lady. How sweet of you to pay your respects to Bertha's grave...it shows how much you cherish and value true love. And thank you for the cottage pie recipe...here in the States, we often refer to it as "Shepherd's Pie." Thank you for bringing so much beauty and grace to our lives through your many talents. I'm watching from North Idaho, USA. We lived in South Yorkshire for 5 years and my daughter was born there. My son caught his first trout on the River Wharfe near Bolton Abbey, and we spent many a weekend exploring the countryside. We were so lucky to be able to live in this beautiful part of the UK! I do miss the village I lived in and the wonderful friends I made there. Your videos are a lovely reminder. :) Thank you!

On Vancouver Island. Expat from the Wirral Cheshire. Just found you! I have been immersed in your beautiful videos this Sunday morning. Made me homesick for the cooking, the moorlands, the seashores and old villages of my childhood. I was born in the dark times of war, in the blitz, and the England of today is so totally alien to me. Thankyou SO much for all the joy you bring.

I think this is one of my favorites. The story of Charles and Bertha Boot, Such sadness and beauty. How fitting to have discovered this especially at this time of year when death and memory permeate everything around us. The fact that you went to find her grave with flowers and pottery, much of life is about memory and the things we leave behind. People all over the Asian world hold custom in paying respect and homage to relatives and friends long after they're gone. I think it makes us appreciate life more and makes it all the more worth living. Vegetarian Cottage pie, gosh your stepping with the times, you go girl! The poem at the end brought everything together, I found the poem in its entirety online, it's a new one for me, the bit about nature really resonates with me, It feels like how I've always felt in my relationship with nature. Woods and field are a cathedral and the heavens its dome. Lots of love from America to you and your family!

I have lived in the countryside in the last 2 years, I decided to run back to the city a few weeks back, I don't completely regret my decision because it lead me to the realization of how blessed I was to be able to life simply on a farm. 🌈 I say this to say that Your videos really helped in me in my most vulnerable state ,in my state of indecisiveness I didn't know where or what to do. Your videos were a constant reminder of what I am missing out on, you helped see the value in simple rural living🌱 Please don't ever stop sharing, you never know who your videos might be helping out there.🤗💜

My career schedule in 2019 and the first of 2020 was a whirlwind, so I had decided in February to slow way down before COVID hit our area. So when things did start to shut down I was already in slow motion to begin with. Then March 1st we made a spur of the moment decision to simplify even more and move to Puerto Rico. Simplifying THAT much was quite a culture shock for me but now since I've moved here (September 14th) I'm starting to acclimate. It's quite an adventure and your videos are such a source of joy for me that I've shared them with friends on my Facebook page. I lived in England in my 20's so I have a similar recipe for Cottage Pie, which I made a week ago. It feels weird to look out at the beach with curtains blowing in the breeze, palm trees and 83 degrees while we're eating it, though. LOL.

I did enjoy the haunting history story. The scenery was stunning and I always enjoy the music you choose. I’m watching from the state of North Carolina USA. Cottage pie is similar to what I fix called shepherds pie. The poem was nice at the end.

What a sad but lovely story. I love the deep melancholic feel to the tale even with the positive twist of love beyond death. Those Drays are a stunning pair aren't they! Absolutely gorgeous, another image of times long gone. We love cottage pie, especially with quorn mince, Mmm. I'm in Cumbria, the beautiful Lake District, although I was born a Lancashire lass. They then moved the county lines and Warrington became a part of Cheshire, although I still feel more like a Lancashire lass and always will. I love your videos, they touch something deep inside me so please please continue. Blessings to you and your family xXx

My husband made the cottage pie using instructions on your video - we have made "shepherd's pie" - which is what we call it in the US, even when it is beef. I ordered the Henderson's Relish and the bullion that you used so we could use the British items. It. was. delicious. It had a lovely dimension - and was perfect comfort food for a Sunday evening. Thank you!

How sublime. I opened the door of my imagination and walked out into the reality of your world. Thank you for another invitation to share the beautiful wildness of Nature's converse, a wild heart to heart speaking to the human heart in the language of love unbounded, flowing, expressed in memorials of love lived and lost, and through the eyes of those living yet here and now. I see it in the care with which you prepare such delectable food and meals as an expressions of your love flowing to your family. And, I can feel the love of the words that flow from off the pages of inspiring selections. I am left with a sense of belonging in a world larger than my imagining, and a world that slowly dances to different music at the speed of life.
