great vid! do you know if it can detect if 2 people are in the room and trigger automation only if 2 people are in the room

You could make a group of office lights 😊 This seems more responsive than FP1 on entry, which was slow at detection being mmwave and was best grouped with a pir sensor.

Yeah I have a few FP2 sensors and it took some time to get them configured so they worked with more consistency. The best locations for me wasn’t on the wall like that, they were are all in the corner of the rooms mounted to the ceiling. The largest issue if found i I think related to it’s wake-up time. Since it’s plugged in to the wall and not battery operated , I’m not sure I understand why there’s a delay.

I wonder if the size of the room plays a part in the delay. For me its very quick to wake up but its only in a small room where i'm probably 1.5-2 metres away from the sensor. If I had it in the living room which is larger I wonder if it would be a different experience.

@@techwithdavidolding I had one in my living room and after 3 days of testing and switching positions I returned it. It’s a wonderful device when it works as advertised. Zone detection would lag sometimes and other times it would detect quickly. I found myself tinkering with it instead of it making my life easier lol . I searched for solutions and watched couple of KZfaq videos but in the end it wasn’t reliable enough for me to keep it. I figure this device works more accurately and faster in a bedroom, hallway or garage. Large living areas not so much.

I had device configured to detect 3 zones, lights would have to turn on . everything off when I left living room area and back on when I returned. I only had issues with it triggering lights on (designated zones) I tried everything and it was random, sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn’t. What did work without errors is when I would leave and come back, response was quick.

@@techwithdavidolding so I have one set up with a zone at the foot of the steps leading upstairs. At the foot of the steps is also a half bath, sometimes if you walk out of the half bath and quickly go to the steps the lights won’t trigger. The FP2 sensor is about 20’ away. The reason I was thinking it was the delay is because the issue is inconsistent. 9/10 times it works fine.

Is that a global version?

A global version of the FP2 device? I'm not sure. I ordered it directly from a local retailer called JB HiFi -- who typically stock either global or Australian specific variations of devices.

Have you tried updating FP2? There should be a corner mounting option. Anyways after updating, I find it more reliable with lesser ghosting and in general. Also make sure to set up exit zone and edges, that should fix the crazy 5 sec delay when you walk out of the room.

Yep I've updated my device. I haven't set the corner mounting option as its not in the corner but the center of the wall. (but I'll give it a try) Yeah I found the edges helped.... I haven't heard of an exit zone. That's a new concept to me.. I'll see if I can configure one that could explain why.

Why don’t you add the Hue app directly in HA iso a zigbee stick?
@techwithdavidolding
@techwithdavidolding 24 күн бұрын
Yeah I need to order a Zigbee USB Dongle first so that my raspberry Pi (which is running HA) can detect the devices.
@Girbie1973
@Girbie1973 24 күн бұрын
@@techwithdavidolding my point is: if you have a Hue bridge (which I assume), you don’t need a zigbee stick. Just add the bridge to HA and the lights will be added.

@@Girbie1973 Ahh yeah I don't have one of those. When I purchased the lights I didn't do enough research. I didn't know what Zigbee or bridges were and assumed it would connect over wifi like all my other lights 😅

@@techwithdavidoldingif you have a lot of Zigbee devices, perhaps you can look into smlight slzb-06(they have multiple variant)

The worst sensor I ever use, it shows ghost all the times, when I back after few days fo2 doesn't work the lights doesn't work completely, I try to reset reset sensor and the lights but doesn't helps. Do NOT buy it, isn't worth.

Yeah I haven't been blown away by this product. It works most of the time.. but there's still that 10-20% where it gets it wrong and detects ghosts. Is there a better sensor you think I should check out instead? It's fine for my home office and a bit of novelty, but really I want to install sensors all around my house. I'm yet to find a sensor which works 100% of the time and can detect you even if you're sitting at a desk or on the couch for hours with little movement.
