Happy 1 year anniversary!! Congrats! Nice vid on the Aqara water leak sensor, it’s totally been a worthwhile investment. Leaks are costly and this works reliably to alert you so you can take action hopefully before costly damage occurs! Cheers to another great year Steven! 🥂

I totally agree - Actually only three days after filming this, my mum had a leak in her house, but thankfully we caught it before it did any damage! Guess what her Christmas presents might be this year! Thanks so much Brad for your help and support this year! Here's to many more to come! (And sorry for the very late reply - been a very busy fortnight here!)

Great review, Steven. As a statistician for several decades, I can tell you that testing something 30 times is a good rule of thumb. Therefore, when you reported testing the device 25 times, I was thoroughly impressed. By the way, it’s important to note that a good statistician will also tell you to ignore all rules of thumb! I’ve been debating on several of these, an Eve water guard (now with thread!), or one of those $300 water main sensors that learns everything about your water use so it can quickly detect all kinds of different water problems. I should not be such a stickler, but I’d likely have that other one already if it was HomeKit compatible.

I can't connect the detector. when I press the detector for a long time nothing happens) . can you tell me if the blue light appears when we press for 5 seconds even if we do not have the Hub in pairing mode. This might help me find where the problem is coming from.

So many reviews, and none of the reviewers mention if you can get alerts when outside the network. I wasn't able to find any information that confirms if it does. It's basically useless if it doesn't in my opinion, but no one is even mentioning this.

Since Aqara works with HomeKit, it will work when you’re away from your home WiFi network (I also tested this for you just to confirm) Perhaps because we’re so used to working with HomeKit devices we forget to mention everything - thanks for highlighting this Victor!

I'm setting up an automation in the Aqara app for the alarm but don't see anyway of controlling the volume of the alarm. Any help would be appreciated.

i have zigbee system from lidl , hub and another sensors. Should aqara work with Lidl Home HUB?

Out of the box that hub expects Tuya compatible sensors and I think it might even be limited to their own Lidl sensors. Get one of the Zigbee USB dongles, it's simpler.

How would this work in the tub ? Like if I want to make an automation that happen if it's in the tub ?

In the bathtub? Wherever the device is, as soon as the two metal sensors on the bottom come into contact, you can get it to trigger whatever automation or scene you like through the Home app. The difficulty is that, the sensor will need to be dry before next use, and if you mounted it inside a bath, I'm not sure how this would work? It's also probably not a great idea to totally submerge this sensor in water as that's not what it was designed for...

Unfortunately it did not detect a dripping leak that built up a continuous stream with it directly in the stream. Cannot recommend this as it is not sensitive enough or reliable enough.

That is disappointing to hear @emulator8157 - have you tested it out since to determine if your device is faulty? In our testing, we found this reliable so I'm surprised that this hasn't worked for you. You should definitely reach out to Aqara too and see what they can do

1st test sounds like homekit all over to me. Unstable and unreliable. It is a shame because there is so much potential but it is being so poorly executed. I am very disappointed so far. Sometimes a shortcut works, other times it doesn't. :-(

HomeKit is a work in progress still for Apple, but it's great to see them investing more time and effort in HomeKit in recent years, so I think we'll have a very bright future ahead! Siri Shortcuts can often be unreliable sadly, and I hope that we see some serious upgrades in iOS16 and beyond! One tip I've found is that if you say "Hey Siri, launch *Shortcut name*" it will actually run, even when moments beforehand, it wouldn't. Definitely not as elegant or finessed, but a little workaround until things improve! Thanks for watching! (and sorry for the very late reply!)
