Aquaman 2 and Thor 4 are like the MTV Movie Awards sketches for DCEU and MCU, respectively.

First one was better. I really liked Black Manta in the first one and was happy to see him return, but was disapointed about how they used him. Not a bad movie but nothing to write home about.

While I respect WB for letting these films get released, it’s a shame they’ve handled closing the DCEU in such horrible fashion so they can focus on rebooting… Ugh….but i am curious about this one. I just hope for a good time with it because I liked the first one.

i will say this, I like how you don’t take this stuff personally, you review movies as a viewer without popularity or popular opinion. You just speak truthfully about how you feel & just speaking for myself that’s always appreciated

I'm suggesting we pause superhero movies for the next 10 to 20 years. They had their time.

This franchise is even weirder and messier than Friday the 13th.

Curious to see if time will be kinder to the DCEU. It began at the worst time, when the MCU was so far in the lead and the stokes of competition between the two were inevitable. The executives were too reactionary and were never on the same page as the creatives they’d put in charge. Snyder didn’t even intend for his story to be a never ending cinematic universe like Marvel’s. There was supposed to be a legitimate ending, but the studio opted to change course when he already had plans in place. We ended up with a string of loosely connected movies that never lived up to their full potential. If only it had all been brought together in some sort of culminating event. It would have at least been more satisfying, but here we are, ending abruptly. It’s a fitting end considering the DCEU’s troubled history, but I will look back at this era of DC fondly. It was a rollercoaster with a lot of up’s and downs, but behind the scenes issues and MCU comparisons aside, there was a lot of fun to be had with these movies. I like vastly more of them than I dislike, and do believe they were overhated overall. It’s not easy living in the shadow of the MCU. Now that Marvel and DC are at somewhat equal footing, it’ll be interesting to see how developing a shared universe goes for DC this time. I am ready to move on and hope the next universe can fully be what the incredible DC characters have deserved all along.

RIP DCEU (2013 - 2023) While there were undeniably some low points and probably more bad than good I did have some fun along the way especially with Superman, Batman, and wonder woman.

Keep in mind that this movie was constantly meddled with. So much so James Wan allegedly walked off set. There's no way Gunn will have a easy time making Superman Legacy. The way they treated James Wan (their big money maker for the studio) was bizarre and criminal.

Did they announce what movie theyre gonna start with, with this whole reboot thing?

Well I am reviewing one after ages. I have to say this was not as bad as the reviews made me think. The biggest positive of this movie is that you can sit through it. And that is the best part. Now what I liked or what is the good part I think this movie did give us A plot. A decent super hero plot. Though this movie failed to utilize the plot effectively to give us an entertaining and intriguing narrative as it could have this wasn't you typical run of the mill super hero plots. I also liked the cast. Everybody's good. The acting for most part is suited to the plot. And the characters are distinguishable. Even though character development is poor and except Jason Momoa nobody gets a really well defined character arc they still pull off the roles with a degree of conviction. The visuals are decent. You can follow the action. Its not as if the action or stunts are just there to impress. Maybe one or 2 sequences but overall the action is well integrated in the plot even if its not spectacular. The weaknesses. Now this is very very condensed plot. This is essentially 2 movies put into one plot or at least this was a 3 hour movie. And that really takes the drama and tension out of the narrative. The plot moves so fast that you even if you follow it there is not much cinematic enjoyment. A movie is all about tension, build up, and conflict. You need to make people feel and enjoy. Aquaman is just brisk for that. And as I mentioned there is hardly any character development. Also this movie is made with a lighter tone. This was a movie which needed a more serious tone. The start of the movie itself is very sweet and light hearted and that itself sets up the tone to be very generic and harmless. When the plot of the movie is pretty intense and sinister. The tone and plot do not mix well. Nevertheless Aquaman is not a disaster. Its actually a good surprise on more than one counts. And just when you thought that super hero movies were completely out of ideas it presented a reminder that there is always another chance. I give it a 6/10.

the relantionship and interaction between Aquaman and Orm saved the movie for me. I liked the backstory to Necrus and the black trident but man, the movie had some weird pacing and the delivery from some of the actors was bad - the No-scene after they realise what happened. The look of the monsters was not good and there were too many voice over scenes. Overall, an okay movie but a letdown to the first one and for ending this universe

They should've dropped this s@@t on Max and saved themselves some embarrassment. I'm not a James Gunn hater and I'm not taking sides between him and Zack but the DC brand has been damaged. I think Gunn pushing his DCEU in like 2 years is too soon and I wouldn't be surprised if Superman Legacy bombs.

The movie is preachy. Not every movie has to have a “message”. - especially fantasy based superhero movies where most are looking for action and escape from reality. Also, while Mamoa looked great in the first Aquaman, he looks like a slobby bum in this movie and doesn’t seem to fit in this version for some reason. The special effects were also off a bit in this movie that seemed to lack the finesse of the first. It looked like it was lower quality in some scenes, especially when there were scenes that focused on Mera and Aquaman’s mom (too much soft focus). Also, the fact that they brought Manta back is lazy. So many other villains to explore and what we got in this movie was a formula that followed the same notes as the first movie. Boring.

Man I really hope DC gets better as it resets. But if I'm honest I have no expectations or hope that it will get better. Theway they handled the snyderverse and the films around it were so up and down. Man of Steel, Wonderwoman, Aquaman, Batman vs. Superman, ZSJL, Joker, and The Batman are the only films I enjoy watching and rewatching. That's a decent handful but I want DC to have a respectful cinematic universe. A CU that sticks to what DC is which is an expansive gallery of awesome characters with awesome stories. While being darker and edgier than marvel. Not too dark obviously, fans will check out(BVS and ZSJL as examples) but yeah some more adult driven stories is what DC has had over marvel.

I saw it yesterday my mom was hyping me up to watch it. I wasn't really all that impressed with it. The first one was much better and I wanted to see more from the villain.

I still loved ZS Justice League especialy compared to the theatrical release. Some of the reshoots and things they cut is perplexing. Idk how they saw the OG ending with the flash and decided that it should be changed to what we got in the theatrical version. Also BatFleck was the best Batman and Bruce. He was a perfect older more brutal Batman. His fights were like the Arkham game he actually felt like a bad ass. Had the build of a comic accurate Batman and you could actually see the fights. I hated Bale as Batman hated the choreography. The junp cuts are so stupid in any movie but especially in a batman movie. During every single fight they used those jump cuts in quick succession and you could not tell what tf was going on. I'm in the mijority on that But Batfleck wa sthe best Batman. Then Robert Paterson is my 2nd favorite. Again his fight scenes were great and you could tell what was going on and his batman was pretty cool and seeing him do detective work was cool and seeing him inexperienced and young was cool. Nolans triplgy gets so much love because of TDK and only because of Heath ledger. The 1st movie was good and it had an alright Bad guy. 2nd movie was good and had the best Badguy third movie was the worst but it was ok but the bad guy sucked. Bane was the worst . The triology is over rated and Bale as Batman is over rated. His voice he uses is annoying and so stupid. Batflecks voice box that changed his voice slightly made more sense and was easier to listen to. Like I said I'm in the minority but when it comes to accurate Batman that is Batflecks. Ebery single batman on screen has killed. The people that say he doesn't and that is why they don't like Batfleck is an idiot and is just a nolan fanboy. 1.Batfleck 2.Batterson. 3 Bale and Keaton (both the leat accurate batman)

I can’t imagine being the VFX artist, designers, and set decorators. Knowing they dumped hours of handy work, creativity, and stress. All towards a movie that is ultimately the most pointless project of the last decade. Knowing it does not have a chance for a potential sequel, massive profit, or critical acclaim. On top of the fact that is the ending out a mostly disappointing franchise.

The DCEU fell apart after Snyder left and it had a moment of hope with the ZSJL.

I watched this movie Christmas Day with my family because we were together had nothing else to do. Going with them and being entertained by scenes of fish war was fun but I’ll never watch this movie again

If I ran DC, I'd begin with something like MARVELS ( 4 issue, hand painted ) where you see from a reporter's perspective of an alternative history to really portray life in this world of gods.

Honestly for me, this was one of the worst movies the DCEU made that I have watched. I got tonal whiplash like 20 times with multiple genre-shifts, the music popping off at all times even during calm scenes, and the action scenes moving so fast and had so much stuff going on in the background that it all looked like a blur (the last battle being an exception). With all that being said, the poor performances and all of what I said previously made it so entertaining to watch while high in the theater. I unironically love that crab dude he was my favorite performance lol

After watching The Flash, I'm not shocked that this sequel was a bust. So sad.

This movie did what Thor Love and Thunder did. They went way too much into the humor. Thor Love and Thunder was leaning way too much into the humor. They undercut many serious moments in Thor with comedy right after instead of letting it sit for a minute. Same for this movie. What they find funny like you said is like what a 5 year old would find funny. Don't get me wrong I love some humor but too much and in the wrong moments just doesn't work.. When I saw the baby in Aquaman 2 I knew the baby would pee in somones face.

It was just k, it was a popcorn movie if your shut your brain and walk in with no exceptions you will have fun buts it not better or worse then the first. I don’t think it was the acting I think the writing of the movie was just generic and not amazing. The best parts in the movie was aqua man and his brother scenes. I thought the villains were fine but I wish we had more scenes of the villain doing his thing the comedy was k I didn’t laugh at every joke but there a couple of lines that made me chuckle overall just walk into this with zero expectation and it will be fine but if you hated the first one skip this one cause you will not like it
