I grew some ginger in a pot of soil one year, and loved it. I don't think I grew min long enough, though cause those root balls are magnificent! Home grown ginger (for anyone who hasn't tried this) is shockingly better tasting than even the 'fresh' stuff at the grocery store (US) I can't argue with your space/time/yield stats for the plants, but I think I need to grow some again - either in the soil or the aquaponic bed.

Hi there. The system these plants are grown in is called aquaponics. Basically with aquaponics you have fish in a large tank that provide waste. This waste is processed by naturally occurring bacteria into plant available food. That's what these ginger plate were growing in & have found that many plats grow a lot faster & healthier in this system than in the soil. Here's an older clip that may explain it a bit better for you. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMufjKuIsamdhJc.html Hope that helps some. Rob.

Ginger powder sounds interesting. For lights maybe some construction flood lights on a stand, Have seen a few people use them, Well probably cost an arm and a leg in Australia though....lol

Easier than the turmeric as there's no boiling 👍 Have seen a few folks use standard household LED lights in foil reflectors. Apparently they aren't that expensive to get online. Cheers Paul.

Hey rob can we you please make a video on how to balance nutrients in water for different kind of plants .. I have been trying on the system but nothing seems to workout
@RobsAquaponics
@RobsAquaponics 5 жыл бұрын
It depends on how old the system is as to how well it's going to grow plants for you Ankur. If it's a new system with young fish, there won't be a lot of nutrients available for the plants. More mature systems will need a bit of calcium added, which you can add to help buffer the pH in the form of garden lime. I prefer to use hydrated lime as it gives you better control than the slow to act calcium carbonate/garden lime. You may also need to add a small amount of potassium as well if you're growing fruiting plants.

@RobsAquaponics
@RobsAquaponics 3 жыл бұрын
I've fond that they both give roughly the same amount Jeremy. I do think that the aquaponic system would produce a better yield if left to "mature" for at least a year first.
