why does it seem like this episode is only for APEX fusion? For bringing up UL listings, there's more then 3 recognized NRTL's that the US recognizes. Consumer Electronics is a self certification for the UK that is not listed to any standard.

They're not lying about the U.L. listings. I build electrical control panels that have to be U.L. listed and a U.L. rep comes by my shop every quarter for an audit to make sure I'm complying with their regulations. I've had several issues with components having fraudulent U.L. stickers. Each different product has to have a unique U.L. number and you absolutely can look up that number and verify that it applies to said product and not, as they mentioned, just a component used in the product

Hey so i am finishing up the set up on a 200 gallon peninsula (in living space) and a 50 gallon (in my home office next to the living space with the 200 gallon). I have a frag tank plumbed in the 200 gallon. I have qt's for fish and coral. The 200 gallon has a dedicated fish room behind the 200 gallon. I used an aqua controller jr. back in the early 2000's and haven't used one since. Which controller or controllers would you recommend? I am leaning towards GHL or Hydros but open to suggestions and can't decide. Cost is not a factor.

GHL is very well built but takes a bit to wrap your head around the setup / programming. Hydros is still very young but they are constantly improving it and coming out with more addons, programming is easy but its not as expandable as a GHL would be for more customization (atleat yet) so it partly depends what all you want to do with it. I ironically have both systems on the same tank :)

As mobius and smart wifi gear evolves it will make "controllers" less and less apealing... New sicce syncra pumps have temp monitoring and failure wifi alert, 2 important things to keep an eye on for no extra cost. Alot of new skimmers come with float switches, ATO's come with alarms..., temp controllers have alarms... its a matter of time until most gear gets wifi and can text you about a problem

All about multiple leveled of redundancy! I do like eco tech approach where everything is smart and you essentially start to get a controller with out having a controller just but adding in more gear you would buy anyway. Once they add inputs and sensors it will be pretty awesome

I agree from United Kingdom the Apex is too expensive. I just about to purchase the D-D skimmer guarding and the sicca return pump with controller with temperature monitor. I'm using WiFi smart plugs webcams and leak detectors. I have an ink bird temperature controller wifi all of these things in cost is around £450.

@@ReefDudes first of all I have all the respect in the world for Terrence and Neptune systems, its thanks to them we are where we are plus many of us have £10K invested in our reefs, not having an APEX or GHL is a mistake. However, the future in my opinion is built in smart control in each piece of gear for 90% of reefers

Good to know! I have never used their slides. I’m assuming temp still works you just don’t get ph and ammonia and what not?

@@ReefDudes exactly that. Everything works except amonia and ph because they are dode via slide. Light, water level and temp still work.

Guys wifi plugs cn send notifications if off line. Also can add WiFi camera and D-D skimmer guarding to stop it overflowing. There are leak sensors wifi notifications from amazon that work. Temperature controller. I disagree that neptune is too expensive full system over £1000 its near the same as the tank cost.

@@ReefDudes Yep love the channel learning lots, from uk 🇬🇧 london but we are well behind in goods We don't have access to controller mounting boards or optical eye water level sensor. It's a shame I watch BRS and also have more new equipment coming than UK. I just think that my Redsea E-260 with sump was £1760 and aqaurium controllers are about the same cost too expensive for average Reefer .

Did you ever do a Felix review?? Im wanting a monitor for my tank, I’m happy to dose my self, i just want something that tells me what my readings are! But i dont want to spend £500+ its daft money

I test nitrate and nitrite in 6 minutes with tropic marin pro test

@@ReefDudes nitrite takes 3 minutes because it is a 2 step test and nitrate takes 6 because it is a 3 step test. Everything takes me 6 minutes be cause I do them in parallel. You should try it

OK.. but you do it every day? Constantly? I recently had a problem with dinos because I failed to test my nitrates (that dropped at zero for a week). If I would've had a Reefbot I would have had the number in the first day.

@@traianboala3798 on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I test nitrite, nitrate, po4, kh, ph and temp on Wednesdays and a full test on Saturdays (nitrite, nitrate, po4, kh, ca, mg, salinity, ph and temp)

Apex fusion is pretty good. Apex hardware is overpriced heap of plastic garbage.

Neptune need to look at their Australian distributor pricing... $500 Apex EL USD... $1000 USD in Australia.. ($1299 AUD). Something is out of whack. Oh and that is with the old EB6 six powerpoint board, not the new and great EB832...

Wow the Neptune guy thinks Neptune is the best. Shocking... I like the idea of an honest discussion maybe not with company reps though. So it can be, you know honest. And not just a platform for company talking points. Or have a company rep for GHL or others on too since many talking point were incorrect. I find the Terrance the Neptune rep to be very abrasive. He seems insecure about his products and needs to constantly say how many they sell, as if that shows it’s superior. McDonalds sells more burgers than probably anyone. Does that mean it’s the best?

Wi-fi is the way to go. It’s the future. Wire is horrible and bad. Aquabus cables are horrible and make me sad. Wi-Fi 6 is very stable. Neptune apex needs to move away from aquabus and cables. Wi-Fi is the future and the future is now. Running aquabus cables between devices is horrible!!

Would be nice if products has the open to be both wired and wireless to give choices on how we want to hook it up
