Challenge idea: Each of you randomly select and incorporate a fish into your tank. The challenge is to create a harmonious environment that suits the chosen fish species. You could make it even harder by only using plants from the area the fish is from.

Challenge idea: Each of you take turns picking ingredients (plants, rocks, substrate, etc.) blindly from a selection. You both must then incorporate these elements into your tank, no matter what

You should do a challenge that one chooses the others stuff that they have to use(like one chooses the others plants, hard scape, substrate and tools that they have to use)it would be funny 😊❤

A challenge idea could be that one of you are blindfolded while you set up your tank. You can only rely on touch and verbal guidance from the other person to create your aquascape.

Challenge idea: creating an aquarium triptych with 1 tank designed by Jurisj, 1 by MJ, and the last one by both of you. Yet maintaining harmony and coherence across all three, from hardscape point of view, BUT they all must have different water parameters (from very soft water to very hard water for instance) for diverse aquatic life! For the tanks created individually by Jurijs and MJ, you could showcase your unique styles and preferences in aquascaping while adhering to the overall theme or concept agreed upon for the triptych. When it comes to the central tank scaped by you both, Jurijs and MJ, collaboration would be key! Combining your ideas and techniques seamlessly, ensuring that the central tank complements the individual tanks on either side while still standing out as a cohesive piece. Regarding the water parameters, each tank must indeed have its own unique set of parameters tailored to the specific needs of the aquatic life intended for that tank. This would allow for a diverse range of fish and shrimp species to be housed across the triptych, showcasing the beauty and variety of aquatic life that can thrive in different environments. It would result in a stunning display of aquatic artistry that celebrates the beauty and diversity of the underwater world.

Love the two scapes! They look so good! Challenge: While scaping there is a 10 minute section during the planting fase where the other contestant has to do the planting while the original contestant is giving instructions, BUT the one doing the planting wears headphones with (loud) music.

I'm also not a fan of keeping fish in tanks that small. There maybe species that can be kept under 54l if the dimensions are right (i.e. shallow tanks), but generally I don't think it's good practice and for sure not necessary for enjoying the hobby. Nontheless, keep up your outstanding work and enjoy scaping!

Challenge suggestion for something outside of your comfort zone: NO PLANTS. Even though I personally prefer planted tanks, there are environments that fish and shrimp come from which have no plants, or almost no plants. It would be a challenge to create them to be beautiful, interesting and functional for the aquatic life.

the issue lies in the filter media you need to change or clean the filter media if the algae reappers in 15mins

Forgot to mention. I had some similar algae problem too, i added some seachem phosguard and activated carbon to the filter. Did couple of running waterchanges and the problem was solved. The activated carbon was the more important one though.

Hi, would you mind elaborating on this, I don't understand your formula. Eutrophication occurs I am led to believe, in natural waters with Phosphate levels above 1 ppm if it is hot and sunny, especially with the long days of high summer. Nitrate, much higher figures can be tolerated, up to 10 ppm before algae blooms. The tanks, as immature systems, seem deficient in floating plants and perhaps over-lit with lights too strong in the blue aspect of the spectrum. My main tank runs successfully with 8 hours of quite intense light but in the red/orange spectrum with Nitrate levels below 5 ppm and Phosphate at less than 0.5. If Nitrate levels hit 30 or more, as sometimes happens with my tap water in the summer months, I get algae growth beyond the acceptable. In my experience long photoperiods, more than 10 hours can be generally be relied upon to generate algae issues, as can bright lights with a blue/mauve spectrum, some authorities suggest you only need half the lumen power that you can grow plants with if using red/orange heavy lights if using blue/mauve weighted lights. Trickle filters and air operated sponge filtration, also seems to contribute to filamentous algae for reasons I find hard to fully explain.

Wow! I don't know what to say. The Tanks are beautiful but they are definitly not good for keeping these fish!!! Fiest of all they are way to small, espacially for the gobys. It is highly possible that the parapanchax will jump out of this small open tank. "You can see rhem all the time" where should the fishes been going in suxh a small tank, they have no where to go.

Man Themis was going great until the stocking. The fact of the matter is the tanks or 2 small for that amount of stocking in both tanks. Like why would you think adding that many Dario to a tank is a good idea. Your scapes are always cool but it always falls apart with stocking. All the small tanks you put together are overtocked in my opinion. Everything I read says they all need bigger tanks especially the gobies. Sad. Half the reason I had stopped watching until the scape competition.
