Complete disassembly and reassembly of a new BCG. It is a good thing to do before you install it into your upper.

The first thing I would do is shine a light in the chamber and see if you can see any deformity or pitting, etc. Then, polish your chamber. After that, see if a round will slide in without the bolt in.

Great step by step video 👍. Clear and slow directions👍. I do have to make one point... the notched rings at the rear,it is a myth that the notches need to be off-set,not necessary but I as everyone likes it to be so 👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment. That’s true about the gas rings, however, I like them to be, kinda like piston rings. I guess it’s a leftover mental thing. Lol

Great video, I ended up buying the AR10 Vise from Creedmoor, in /amazon at the time of this writing is about $50.00 and Creedmoor sells it for $40.00. I wanted to check head space for my newly build aR10 in .308 then later for another upper in 6.5, the pins in my Fail Zero BCG seems to be pretty solid in there so did not wanted to take chances and got the vise, if you can spare $50.00 it is worth it.

firing pin spring located? or not part of it? thought it was in channel of rear of bolt inside where the firing pin inserts. i believe it is there but not very big, but used to prevent it from slam firing

Question for you, I disassembled my Areo Precision AR-10 bolt carrier and on the extractor it has a small spring and an even smaller spring inside it and 2 o-rings on it is that something new?? Thanks

Pretty good video. I could wish that you had mentioned what kind of brass you use in the vise to compress the ejector spring. And what kind of grease you use on the ejector spring.
@5alarmgunworks351
@5alarmgunworks351 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion, I can use all I can get. All I did was to cut down an old 308 brass to about 3/4”. I’m working on building a jig to do this. The grease I use is just a gun grease. I have a few I use. Birchwood Casey renewable firearm grease, Hoopes black, and lubriplate SFL gun grease. I have also used Slip 2000. All have worked well.

I think there is a spring between my pin and the assembly. So, I inserted spring, then firing pin, then compress slightly and insert cotter pin (actually locking pin). Does that sound right?

I think I put mine together wrong one time, it made the sealing rings really drag. Kept the gun from going into battery about half the time. What could cause that?
@5alarmgunworks351
@5alarmgunworks351 Жыл бұрын
I haven’t seen the rings keeping the bolt from going into battery before, but I’m sure it’s possible. If the rings are wrong sized, or one got folded or damaged in the carrier could cause this. First, pull the bolt out of the carrier. Check the rings. Also, look in the bolt closely where the bolt slides. Look for unusual wear or scratching. Try new rings for the bolt. Make sure they are for the “308” size. The bolt should be tight in the carrier, but you should be able to move it by hand fairly easily. You can check if it is tight enough by assembling it, pull it out fully and set it on a table bolt side down. It shouldn’t move. I hope this helps, if there are any other questions, just let me know. Thanks for watching.

I’ve been having failure to extract. Ar-10. I just took apart the bolt and found the extractor o-ring is not there. Is this maybe the reason?
@5alarmgunworks351
@5alarmgunworks351 28 күн бұрын
Could be, however I have seen a few work very well without. It is a cheap fix/trial to see how it goes. After that, first thing to check is the chamber. Polish it and see how it extracts. After that there are a lot of things to check, too many to go into here, and it would be a mile long text. lol. Try those things, if it doesn’t go well, shoot me a message: 5alarmgunworks.com

Would a bad o ring cause double feeding on a new carrier group on a .308
@5alarmgunworks351
@5alarmgunworks351 10 ай бұрын
Possibly. There are a lot of things that can cause that. I would need further information about it. Is the shell extracting? Is it staying in the chamber while another loads in? What do the extracted cases look like. Does the BCG lock back when you shoot 1 round? Let me know what set-up you have. Thanks

EXCELLENT VIDEO THANK YOU!! Do you have any advice for my AR10 locking shut after loading a round. I have to use a rubber mallet to get the live round out. It failed to fully load the first round so I will not shoot it until it works right, several rounds have since stuck. It is brand new, I failed to clean it (getting lazy with age). I will clean tonight and see why its jamming locked shut. Thanks for any help or advice

@@5alarmgunworks351 PS as a machinist I was looking for wear etc. I noticed two very distinct ring patterns just below the bullet, so I am thinkin head space is causing those. They are only on rounds loaded and unloaded
