Tungsten is more dense than steel, therefore it provides more mass per unit volume than steel. A 1x1x1" cube of tungsten will weigh more than a 1x1x1" cube of steel. Here on earth or anywhere in the universe their mass is different.

The separate weights in the buffer not only give a little hesitation on the backstroke, but also counter bolt carrier bounce when slamming home, which is the main purpose of the buffer.
@spencerbookman2523
@spencerbookman2523 Жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, the buffer weights are allowed to shift slightly in the buffer, thus providing a "dead blow" action similar to a dead blow hammer. I believe this action is what contributes most to preventing bolt bounce.

Can't have that in leftist run schools... Remember, they want non-gun owning teens to be scared of firearms, wherever possible and discourage learning of how to make firearms better or the principles that make a firearm work, anymore. Though, it would be a great idea, imo. Maybe in collegiate physics, sadly, or vocational?

Really surprised this dude missed at least SIX major points - 1) the size of the gas port in the barrel (how much gas gets out) 2) the size of the gas port in the gas block (metering how much gas gets through to the gas tube) 3) the length of the gas system (pistol, carbine, mid, intermed, rifle) 4) the length of the barrel and resulting dwell time 5) whether you are shooting suppressed or unsuppressed and 6) what type of ammo you are shooting (hot NATO loads vs. cheap low power steel case). All these impact cycling, reliability, feel, and parts wear and factor into choosing the right buffer. And there is wayyyy to much mixing and matching of parts going on in the community for any hard and fast rules espoused by one dude, you just have to figure out the right buffer and spring weight (and possible change to an adjustable gas block) on your own based on what you've assembled in your build in order to get it to run properly for what you are shooting. And btw, to keep the cost and price down, most manufacturers include a cheap carbine buffer (3 steel slugs vs. more expensive tungsten plugs) in the rifle - that doesn't mean it's the right answer, just the cheap answer. As a result, his massive oversimplification is misleading and wrong. Probably shouldn't be speaking on behalf of any manufacturer, but at least we know why Bear Creek is bottom tier.

I am not surprised at all! Some of the things that they produce really make me wonder about their "tech" guys. For example, they produced a 10.5" 6.5 Grendel barrel with pistol length gas system and a gas port size that was a massive 0.110 inches! Their 10.5" 300 Blackout with the pistol length gas system has a gas port size of 0.101, which is about right, but they put a much larger gas port in a barrel for a round that works at much higher pressures causing it to be massively overgassed! To get those 6.5 barrels to cycle correctly I had to use and adjustable gas block and close it way down. When I contacted them about this overgas issue their answer was, "that is what the print says"! That 0.110" gas port size would have been OK with a carbine length gas system, but for pistol length gas it should have been closer to 0.076".

Ive seen MANY people say the opposite of what your saying for 7.62x39: 16 inch = Carbine - H2 10.5 Inch = H2 7.5 or Below = H2 - H3 Seems the smaller you go the more gassy and violent the action becomes. The heavier weight help balance it all out. YOU SAID to use a carbine weight on a 10.5 or below 7.62x39 pistol? That would seem to be absolutely violent and break parts more frequently. Including nothing suppressing all the gas (ive had a 7.5 and in "1" shot the gas was buring my eyes). The 10.5 was gassy but not as extreme as the 7.5. Those where both with a H2 buffer. The recoil however was very good even on a 10.5 with no brace (cheek method). The 7.5 with the H2 was very violent in gas and recoil. Was so bad i didnt even want to continue shooting.

I got your 16 inch 762x39 side charging upper. What would you reccomend? Carbine, A2, or A5 style buffer tube? Would a flatspring make any difference?
@dcrose001

Carbine length, standard buffer and flat spring is a solid combo for 7.62x39.

I just got a 10.5" 7.62x39 upper from you guys - seems undergassed, bolt is not going back far enough to pick up a new round. Confirmed that problem is not in the lower or in the mags. Using Wolf 122g as recommended on your website. Heavier buffer made problem significantly worse, waiting on reduced power spring to try to lighten things a bit. If that doesn't work should I start taking weights out of (standard 3 oz ) buffer or should i just send it back to you?

If that doesn't work send an email to bcatech@bearcreekarsenal.com, they can help troubleshoot or get you a warranty return label depending on what you want to do!

Do you have to change the spring when going with a heavier buffer? For explanation will the spring it came with work the same with an H3 buffer or do I need a heavier duty spring?

If the rifle length buffer was designed for 20” AR15. Does that mean the H3 would work well on a 20” rifle with carbine length buffer since they weigh the same?

Would changing out the buffer spring, to a more stiff or less stiff one, work as another way to fine tune the system?
@TerminalM193
@TerminalM193 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Buffer weights and springs are HUGE part of the system that can greatly increase reliability, increase life of parts and lower recoil.

Might be a bad ejector, I sent my 7.5 upper back to BCA, they changed the ejector and covered all costs, their customer service is pretty good

I'm going to be building my first .223 wylde ar15. I got a 20" barrel with rifle length gas system and a carbine buffer system. Should I be fine with the standard carbine buffer weight or do I need to go heavier or lighter? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Bought a bca upper 10 1/2 inch 7 62 about a month ago its having alot of failure to feeds and lite primer strikes i do understand these 762 present a prob from time to time also having lite primer strikes I want to keep it its a solid little upper is there any suggestions ? Could it be the complete lower I bought from psa do these mate well or should I buy a bca lower?
@Bear_Creek_Arsenal
@Bear_Creek_Arsenal 3 жыл бұрын
Failure to feed could be the magazine you are using. We recommend dedicated 7.62x39 AR-15 magazines like ASC and C-Products Defense offers. The light primer strikes could be due to not having an enhanced firing pin if you're running steel ammo. Contact bcatech@bearcreekarsenal.com and they can assist you more

Hi I bought a 9mm upper from bca SKU 158NB-UASCH9MMCM416110M-15M3 It's 16" barrel put it on 9mm lower and standard collapsible stock I used a lower build kit from palmetto state and standard buffer and it won't eject the rounds at all I'm guessing it needs heavier buffer were should I start on wieghts

Does anyone have a recommendation for an adjustable gas block for BCA 223 both carbine and mid-length? Have an over-gassed situation that buffer/spring combinations are not remedying. Cycles fine but a bit harsh and ejection at 1-2 o’clock. Thx
