This is what they used to make the 'Death Star Technical Readout' at the end of Star Wars.

I really agree with the poster of this video. This should be essential for all that study visual arts in film and video. The early pioneers like Whitney did not take anything for granted. I don't need to see talking elephants to be amazed by expression. This is emotional on a higher level. I studied classical animation and there was never a word about Whitney. thanks for sharing..where would one get hq version of this and other whitney vids?

u should sell these mini movies in a big dvd collection, crystalsculture3. i looked in my local offline library but they do not have pure cinema, or this kinda material is hard to find (modern day, not the classics ) because most dvds are either still too drama - infested or they are wildlife, science, documentaries - that's as good as it gets - i would buy this material, if i saw it on eBay or Amazon, why not? anyways, keep uploading more absolute cinema, please

Tragically, this has never, to my knowlede, been released on DVD. The graphics at the front indicate that it came from the same source as my copy - the Pioneer "Visual Pathfinders" LaserDisc. There was a lot of "serious art" released in the early days of LaserDisc - not so much with DVD and none at all on BluRay.

So much of the kind of computer generated movement and reaction to music that is pioneered here has gone in to music visualization software. I feel that can result in it loosing its personality as it is not carefully crafted and structured in the same way a film can be.
