hmmm, reading comments. At the end the horse is facing the handler and rearing a safe distance away with a loose lead. I wonder if the negative comments are coming from ppl who would have been afraid and reacted in a less than calm manner. These two have been doing this for quite some time. I did not see a fearful or aggressive stallion. I saw a horse showing off:)

Arabians are full of pride and beauty. This stallion is doing nothing more than being and incredibly example of the beauty and pride that lies within the Arabian bred. If you want a horse without the spunk there's other breeds that provide a slower paced nature. I think this is a beautiful Arabian doing what Arabians do, get excited and showing off. He still listens to his trainer and keeping a stallion under control in the presence of other horses, can be a challenge, he was just showing off, as he should be.

Same. :) I worked for Midwest Arabians, so I've seen crazy, crazy things about the Arab field. BUT at home I had my dear Arab gelding, a family horse and a babysitter. He could be "hot" but he'd calm down and would tip-toe for my niece! He had a ground eating trot that we used for endurance racing, he was my heart-horse. I'll never have another like him.

got it in one, loose lead, this girl has more horsemanship than most, quite understated in her approach, didn't take away from the horse at all - well done! Some people fear what they don't understand, either that or they should take up showing Welsh ponies??

Yeah she is a genius in the video. Kept away from the dangerous bits ..gave him his head ..corrected him when he was a little settled rather than right in the middle of a fit..kept contact light when he was freaking ...kept it a but tighter when he was calmer ..makes me wonder did someone else train him or something? I think he would be more well mannered judging from her ability here.

Absolutely Beautiful. Don't know what any of you are talking about "hissy fits" and "if she knew how to 'control' 'train' him ! He is being very careful and good. Who wants to see a horse that isn't acting like a horse?! His bouncing and movements are very controlled, so as to not hurt anyone--that is what she meant by a sweet horse--he is being careful with her, and she can still allow him some free-range movements, to show his stuff and elegance and energy. Arabians are just Gorgeous. So full of Vitality and Spirit. Wow.

He isn't crazy or vicious if he had real intentions of injuring his handler he quiet have easierly done so . These stallions are encouraged to rear and prance around at shows because it demonstrates to the judges not only the horses comfirmation and movement but also his personality and how he responds to his handler . The handler was in no way in danger of getting injured and out of the show ring this horse is very kind and gentle but in the show ring the judges want to see the horses true attributes , what the Arabian horses are renouned for not just its beauty but its strengh speed , endurance , movement and intelligence which would be difficult to display if he was just quietly lead the around the ring . This horse is an magestic animal that encompasses the true spirit of the Arabian horses and I believe that when god wanted to create a horse so beautiful and statuesque perfection he created the Arabian the king of all the horses .

Totally agree. The handler has not one iota of fear, and appears to be signaling to him all the while. As long as the audience expects to be so close to such a lively horse, I see no foul. Yes, he's magnificent and knows it. Bravo!

Halter Arabians like this stallion are actually trained to jump around like that, so he's actually doing what she wants him to. I don't agree with it, but they do it.
@Lythaera
@Lythaera 8 жыл бұрын
+Armored Wings My point is simply that in terms of how horses speak (body language) he is not being "sweet", even if he's doing what she's asking of him. Pretty sure a lot of it also has to do with how they keep them stalled constantly, only letting them out for 30 minutes of trotting in a circle every few days, while being fed incredibly high energy diets. Their training methods are also borderline abusive, and the horses themselves are bred to be high-strung and flighty. Of course, these are the only horses you see in magazines and online ads... Regardless of the cause, any normal horse person will look at these horses and asses them(rightfully so!) as extremely poor quality riding and sporting animals. Then Arab owners wonder WHY Arabs as an entire breed are stereotyped as flighty, crazy, and useless for anything that is not halter... Maybe if we promoted our working horses it would be different. Horses like Master Design here are doing a huge disservice to the breed.

The horse isn’t being aggressive. If you want to understand horse behavior you can check out the channel Think Like a Horse. Part of this is trained too. The movements show off the horses conformation too. They don’t always act this fiery. Stallions behave differently than other horses as well, they think less like a prey animal. Most people only encounter mares and geldings.

though this horse is very ill mannered, and arabian halter horses do act like this, it is possible to instill manners back in them. I have worked with arabians that were once crazed halter horses that turned into the most well behaved performance horses. It just takes time, but its possible.

I didn't enjoy this merely as it promoted the conception people have of Arabians being overly *hot* horses and psychotic, they're not, but this sure didn't disprove it. She could have spoken to the crowd and said I'm going to give him a little more line and let him show off to you. She seems knowledgeable enough to handle him, but she made him look like a brat, which he probably is not. Responsible breeders look at temperament as well as other qualities, this isn't a competition, it's just a group of viewers.

He appears to be a young stallion with too much energy for a proper stand up...his antics do not mean he was artificially stimulated to show him off. He may be confined a lot of the time...maybe some free time with room to run and socialize with some horse pals would calm him. He did not attempt to strike or bite his handler and may be a very sweet horse.

Actually they train them to act this way for halter classes, which then carries over into normal activities such as being shown to an open house crowd. As far as I am concerned, I would prefer my 1500lb animal to stop acting like a perpetual-bouncing-ball and calm the hell down and act like a gentleman.

We had over 15 stallions of top producer in Germany, but none of our "horses" would behave like this. Now, I say in the emirates that this "dancing " is considered normal or even ask for. He is in good shape, and the handler seems not to mind. Other culture other customs....

I don't care for it myself, but I've watched some stallion classes from Dubai and other Arab countries--they all show their stallions that way. There is short period where they have the horse stand still so the judges can assess their confirmation, but the rest of the time, they seem to like to see them exhibit this "hot" behavior. From what I"ve read in the comments, evidently this horse was trained to behave like this, so I don't guess we can fault his manners. LOL, my stallion was not ever allowed to behave like this while on the lead--and the mares kept him in line the rest of the time.
@Lolita5025

Yes, unfortunately. It started, in earnest anyway, with David Boggs and the Padron. He taught the horse to rear on command and it went from there. Valentino (RIP) would walk out of the barn on his hind legs because he was so crazy, had electric wiring on the inside of his stall so he wouldn't hurt himself! They do it because it makes for a good show. They do a LOT of stupid things to make it a good show. These horses are stalled all day and night.
