She was offered a “deal” from Hollywood! She was smart and turned it down!!!! Norway is so much safer and safer for her family!!!!!

I didn't know that but on reflection the story fits keeping in mind the kind of person I think she is. Though she has international recognition I suspect she hasn't put her career above family in order to go cosmic. Her great voice is such a rare thing, in some ways it's a pity but balancing her kind of life means compromise, means sacrifice too.

This is just stunning to me............she comes out of a caged area, delivers THAT song, and slowly walks back to the caged area. For me, this is such a poignant delivery of an amazing song. To me, it's about the loved ones in our lives that we just can't quite, can't quite, can't quite,....................you know...........just tears and sorrow, and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh, yeah, back to the cage. You just can't quite reach them...................cause they can't quite reach you.

WHY was she never offered a contract in Hollywood? She has that Julie Andrews aura and her "musical" acting and singing abilities are certainly beyond compare. Great mystery! I never heard of her before until I came across these KZfaq videos. Amazing performer.

In Norway at that time, Sissel was the star. We was pretty confused about just us liking her singing. Also we thought, well, she's from a small country. Noone cares but we'd like to see her in the big productions. We didn't know it was her choice to keep her career under control.

You Americans seem to think, that all is about US. There is a big world outside your borders - a free world. We have been listening to her for years, and she has performed in big parts of the world. Why should she go to the US???

Here is Sissel in one of her first public appearances. It's the Eurovision Song Contest from her home town of Bergen Norway, where she sings the old traditional Bergen song, Jeg Tokk Min Nystempte. @@Matuku35 Yes. I can't argue with that. This. voice continues to surprise just when you think you've heard the best of it. Her voice rises to the occasions be it Unchained Melody or Ebb Tide and for pure performance value... Slow Down at the Temple Square.

She left streisand in the dust with this song. I have now moved Sissel to number one on my personal hit parade. Also, listen to her version of The first time ever I saw your face. It rivals if not is ahead of Johnny Mathis.
