But Arjuna being a great batsman himself is not given the due credit unfortunately.should be considered in the same league as De Silva and Jayawardena.Sangakkara is the greatest batsman produced by Sri Lanka as of now .

Arjuna was way too better batsman than his numbers suggest.. He had 8 centuries(tests and odis)under his belt but played many captaincy knocks scored valuable runs especially in odis..in tests one need to score big after getting settled but Arjuna failed there.. However in odis his runs always proved handy because he scored them when it mattered most.. He concentrated more on building team and nurturing young talent.. That was the reason why he didn't take his batting seriously like Desilva and Atapattu..

Desilva, terrific backfoot player. The best batsman Srilanka ever produced. It is a shame he is so underrated. He was as good if not better than the yesteryear greats.
