ARB Onboard Air Installation with SwitchPro 9100 integration on my 2020 4Runner TRD Pro

In this video, I explain how I installed an ARB CKMA-12 onboard air compressor on my 2020 4Runner TRD Pro.

I had three goals for this project: 1) to install the air compressor on a tray mount that I already owned, 2) to control the compressor with my Switch-Pros 9100, and 3) to be able to fill my tires without having to pop the hood. You will see in this video that I was able to achieve on all three of these goals.

I wouldn't have cut up the harness I would of just Bound it up Incase You decide to add Lockers later down the road

Really clean! Is there a plug or something to keep mud, dirt, insects etc from clogging up the front of the ARB quick connect give it's pointed straight out at the road ahead?

Yes, there is a cover, from ARB, that protects it from the elements. I purchased the cover after the install video.

Hi, thanks for making this video. I just got an ARB compressor too and I was looking on how to set it up to the switch pros. Question: I'm assuming that since the ARB's positive and negative power wires are going straight to the battery, that means that the wires go to the switch (but now to the switch pros) are just used to activate some internal relay inside the ARB, correct? And if so, it doesn't matter weather you use one of the 20A switches on the switch pros, or one of the 35A switches, correct?

Yea, it doesn’t matter. I ended up wiring it to the 35A switches but not required. I think I have that switch configured to 5A.

Which switch port did you use for the compressor? Was it a 20A one or a 35 A one? If' I'm understood correctly, even 20A is well more than enough room for just the switch. It's not actually carrying the current for the compressor. Great walkthrough!

I connected it to one of the 35A ones (switch 8) but configured the overamp to 5A.

So… the two thick Positive& Negative go to the battery… the smaller Positive and Negative go to the switch pro?

Watch the explanation of what I did again. I wired only the higher gauge red wire to the Switch-Pros. The thick gauge red (positive) and black, along with the higher gauge black (negative) were connected directly to the battery terminals.

Where did your SP terminal block end up? I see them going into the large loom, but where is it terminated? I'm guessing you had to extend them ? Or did you purchase a new SP harness?

I wired the accessory device directly to the SwitchPros wiring harness. That is what you see hidden within the loom.

@TheOverlandEd ...when you mean accessory device you mean the "light/circuit" to be switched? So no terminal block anymore?

@@brpnw4r94 from what I understand, Switch-Pros doesn’t even recommend using terminal blocks, if I remember correctly what was in their instructions.

@TheOverlandEd ..Hmm. I've never seen the 16 harness wires terminate any other way. I couldn't imagine having to de-loom every time you want to run a new circuit and separate the ground, but it looks like you'll have easy access. You had originally cut the wires to the harness, so you really didn't have the option to do it any other way as they were shortened significantly. The compressor looks great in that location. Surprised Derek hasn't answered his email as stated in other comments. I'm currently waiting on a custom 3D printed mount for my TouchPad, and then my installation will be done. I did a duel battery at the same time. Cheers.

@@theoverlanded I appreciate your videos, you’ve given me some good ideas. Which fuses did you connect the switch pro to? I have a ‘21 without KDSS but there is a fuse in the inside fusebox for it as well as an open fuse that is wired. Was hoping to use these locations as opposed to an add-a-fuse.

Thanks Greg. Happy to hear you find the videos useful. Regarding the Switch-Pros, I ran the switch line into the cab, along with the control wire, and used an add a fuse to the main fuse panel in the cab.

Ed, how did you contact sdoffroad to get your tray that fits over the relay box and how long ago did you order it? I tried Instagram & his hotmail email, I’ve gotten no reply back from Derek, not sure if he is still making these mounts for 2020&2021 4runner… any help would be appreciated if you have any contact info

I got my tray from sdoffroad in Feb 2021. The only contact info I have the instagram and the Hotmail address. Not sure what is going on with Derek and why he is not responding to you.

That’s a great set up! Where did you connect the pressure switch’s Red and blue wire? As for the red wire connected to the switch pro, where is it coming from? Did you use any relay on this set up? Thanks
