One of the best NES games i ever played. Not exactly a port, but a totally different version, inspired by the arcade version, or maybe the contrary, I can't tell.

@Andoc That's my opinion, too. Although the arcade game has much better graphics and sound, somehow the NES version is better. I just can't tell why, but that's it. Anyway, the arcade version is good, too. And I don't know about you, but I didn't like the final stage: The "Aliens" stage. It killed the game's fantasy ambience.

the thing is, a lot of games from the decades after both Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) tried to capture some of the Alien/Geiger success by portraying various Xenomorph like creatures. Contra, Metroid and MANY MANY more...

Yeah, that level just felt bizarre. I could understand a Xenomorph-inspired level showing up in a game like Contra, but it feels darn weird to going from skeletons and cyclops and dragons to suddenly aliens! XD

One of my friends in high school was traumatized because he used an invincibility code on the NES version but it didn't work on the final boss and the shock made him catatonic. His parents committed him and he's been there for 25 years.

alxxpspqr This game is its own game unrelated to Legendary Axe. Legendary Axe was distributed by NEC and developed by Victor Musical Industries. I'm sure the Xenomorphs are an homage to Alien.

@@moviemetalhead they share a lot of devs, actually. Rastan, Legendary Axe (1) and this game are all designed by the same guy.

+KingFossilFER I uploaded a gameplay of this game without dying a year ago. And even before that there were some gameplays with 1 credit. Besides stage 5 which has some difficult segments, the game gives you a lot of extra lives, making it quite easy to beat.

KingFossilFER No problem man. The best way to find good runs, and with that, I mean gameplays without save states or infinite continues is to add "1cc" or "no miss" to your search. This channel uses save states (in most retro games) and its purpose is not to show good skills, but just gameplays from the beginning to the end. You also have channels like ReplayBurners, with very good stuff in it.

Ended this in the arcade.. Need about 3 quarters tho... I couldn't "One Quarter" this one.. Great game

+SmashTom Yes, it's possible, you can check a gameplay I uploaded a year ago. It's an easy game to beat with 1 credit, as they give you a ton of extra lives, but really difficult to do it without dying. The segment with fires and the chain guys of stage 5 is quite complicated and you depend on luck to get out alive from that.

Having an Alien(s) reference in your game was mandatory for a good while.
