Arcade Mod Up / Game Room Solutions, why you should not do business with them & some tips if you have one of their products.

I actually had a very good experience with them . I recently purchased the 4 player I agree that it’s a bit shaky but that can easily be fixed with a Little tlc. Another thing I can say from A lot of experience is that when you get one of these multicades from any company you are going to have issues . This was my 6 th different one from 6 different companies. All have had some issues that I figured out myself with no help from The sellers . Theres a group for arcade guys Build on Facebook that all Help each other though . I purchased a Pc build from someone for $3500 and took about 9 months to get it This one took 5 days That pc build is absolutely incredible But nothing was working No driving games no gun games No trackball games The regular arcade games were working No I Ste iron a how to map anything or save and no customer service after 15 texts I gave up and figured out every single thing by myself with the help of google and KZfaq And trial and error and I’m stronger for it Your buying stuff from very small companies And it’s all unlicensed So you cant expect everything out of 10k games to work Just my personal opinion Everyone has their right to what they expect for their money But I’m very happy Using them now to custom build a fighting cab with a PS4 Doing an injustice them Using my own sticks and games obviously

Few things. 1. The cab being "a little shaky" is inexcusable for the price they charge. 2. $3500 for a PC? But why? You could build the best PC in existance for about $2500, but also why put the best PC ever in an arcade? A $100 Pi4 will do just as good. 3. These are not small companies, Game Room Solutions itself owns 4-5 different businesses. 4. RecRoomMasters are the way to go, strong quality and customer service.

@@MrANTBIGif your looking for great customer service and quality images Retroknight gaming But they don’t do cabinets For higher end cabinets with PCs arcade-one is the best I believe they work with Rex room masters who do the cabs

Arcade mod up are very hard to work with I had to jerry rig like three different things to get it to fit rite. Not to mention a few things were broken when they arrived and they never replaced them I gave up trying to get ahold of them

Had a similar experience with their side company “arcademodup”. Thanks for quick tutorial on button changes. Been a long time since I’ve done it and kind of forgot how. I think afterburner needs an analog controller to work right.

I’ve found that changing/re-mapping controls via Retroarch is much more user friendly than the Mame menu. And then save the game remap settings, so it loads it everytime. But as for the company, I had a pretty good experience with them. BUT, it should be noted since I fell into the hobby, through trial and error, I made my own image of just the games I wanted (Recalbox is much better than RetroPie), and figured out how to wire controls (seeing tons of wires was daunting at first, but now I’d rather do it myself). These companies would have so much less hassle to deal with if they strictly made the cabinets, and left it up to customers to deal with the emulation part.

I also made a backup copy of my retropie build and I stored on my computer. With that backup on my computer I can make another copy to an SD card or to another SSD

Thanks so much for your video. I had the same horrible experience with these people. Ryan has such an arrogant nasty attitude toward the customers. Which i truly do not understand. The customers are your bread and butter. Anyway i had the same issue with Robotron the right stick was not mapped to fire. Now that you explained it i am going to try to map it and finally play my favorite game. I asked them so many times to explain how to do it with no help at all. So thank you so much for this video and all your help. I subbed to your channel.

Yes, it will work. Robotron is the same way as "Black Widow". You use both sticks, one to move & one to fire, both in 8 directions. Do us a favor and report them to the "Better Business Bureau". I did but the more people that report them the better. Don't take this from them, we've got to come together and be heard or us and others will continue to be crapped on.

@@christopherbrown5338 I had to do the same thing for Smash TV (as the original arcade game used 2 joysticks per player. One for directions, one for firing weapon in a direction). I remapped it so the joystick is movement, and picked 4 buttons as the firing weapon.

I've had excellent/very responsive customer service with them over the last 3 days 20 messages back and forth. Tyler and Courtney. Everyone's experience can be different though. Still a nice one stop for all the games and a custom cabinet in my opinion. Beats paying 400-600$ a cab for 10 games or so from Arcade 1 up.

DON'T buy from these people, you WILL regret it. There are other companies out there. Do the research & ask questions. This company will take your money & run. Their customer support is non existent.

Dude u r spot on...worst customer service ever - I’m 3 min into your video and agree- I decided to get the legends ultimate and modbit with their raspberry pi and lcd screen - it’s ok but did not get all the genesis and Nintendo system games on it -tried to call them a zillion times to get a different card and the one they sent me didn’t work

@@christopherbrown5338 I am sorry u had to go thru this but I’m glad you are out there posting about this - I was actually considering buying this actual unit but had my reservations - I think u would of been much happier getting a legends ultimate machine and getting the lcd screen and raspberry pi modding it I believe it is built exponentially better just my two cents worth

I started a report to the Better Business Bureau. They claim they always help their customers. I am only one person though. Now is the time to send a compliant to the Better Business Bureau. Let's come together and not be treated this way because it's the only way we will be heard.

Ok, thank you! I'm kind of stuck with what I got so far. I loved the good old days of 80's music & the Arcades but now I'm afraid to play mine because almost every time I go to play a game I remembered, about half don't work. I spent over $1400 and then another couple hundred in another base, mag-stick joysticks and then the things I did on my own.

31:35 You can make a backup ISO image of your SD card. A similar process is used when making a RetroPie boot card, see online retropie docu "First Installation" - Installation 3, section for recommended software to use with ISOs. Win32 Disk Imager can be used to read a SD card and create a new my_backup.iso on a windows machine. Windows does not read Linux directly but will require a software package to access a Linux file-system.

I don't know of other cabinet makers but I would do some research & avoid Arcade Mod Up / Game Room Solutions

Sad truth is... There are VERY few affordable options out there. Most places charge absurd prices starting around $2,500 for the most basic mame cabinet, and upwards for $4000 for a really good one. Mame arcade cabinets are not worth cheap used car prices obviously. So your left with either... 1. Building your own machine cabinet and all from scratch. (Cheapest but VERY time/effort intensive. You'll need a workshop/garage.) 2. Finding existing older cabinets locally and modding the hell out of it to get it the way you want it. (Cheap but time/effort intensive.) 3. Arcade1up/arcade legends modding. (Modestly expensive, somewhat time/effort intensive, not a great final experience as they tend to be undersized.) 4. Paying out the a** for a really good custom made cabinet. (You need to be rich, no effort, LONG wait times of about half a year or more.) There really isn't a "great" option out there, just varying degrees of bad to "meh" ones. Cheap crap, or overpriced quality stuff, take your pick. Personally... I'm leaning towards buying an arcade legends cabinet to throw away almost all of it aside from the shell, $400+tax from a local sams club, so no paying $500 for shipping. Then completely building up from scratch the way I want it. Not a great option, but the best I can find currently.

I notice they put fake SANWAs and fake SUZO HAPP sticks in your cab. Fake SANWAs in mine too. On the website, it doesn't mention fake SANWAs. It mentions real ones.

I have a 400 GB retropie build but instead of using an SD card I use a 2.5 SSD and I boot my raspberry pi directly from the SSD.

Sadly for me they were cheapest option than would ship to the UK.. They only issue i had was the lcd converter board didnt work which I replaced my self and told them and they didn't bother to refund me in anyway.. Just said 'glad you fixed it'... If they go back to using pi4 again don't use their old outdated virtual man image they claim they used themselves.. Start a fresh and re do it and don't expect any support.. Buttons are hardware itself aren't too bad in my eyes considering the price but your own your own technically

Sorry you had a bad experience. I have purchased three cabinets (2 plyr control panel, 4 plyr Arcade, and a full size vpinball) from them and no major issues in terms of quality. I added my own games and buttons. I did however, had a horrible conversation with a lady when I asked her for some alterations. Other than that no issues. Check my channel I talk about it.

I'd bet money it was Tina (the co-owner) you spoke to, man she always has a horrible attitude. I wish I knew more about how the software worked because a lot of my games don't work. I have the mag-tek joysticks where you can flip a lever or pull up & twist to go from 4 way to 8 ways, but I really like how yours does it automatically! @@christopherbrown5338 if you are going to stick with the pi check Drew Talks channel or ETA Prime. If you want to venture into emulation using a PC its a lot easier and the go to program is Launchbox BigBox. ( ...and yes, it was her)

@@christopherbrown5338 They're a company selling you pirated software. I wouldn't expect much support from that kind of company. Anyone selling fully built out front-ends with 15,000 games is just going for the path of least resistance to your wallet. The more support they offer, the more liability for something already clearly illegal.

Agreed 100% Customer service is non-existent. It's shoddy crap, bad speakers, cheap TV box used for emulation. Locked UI so unless you are savvy enough to use the old Konami Contra code, you won't get into it, or be able to change any options. None of that matters though because if the games are not working with FBNEO, they aren't going to run very well or at all. Mine didn't come with a Raspberry Pi. It came with a weird x95 TV Box that isn't anymore powerful than a Pi 4, with a good portion of games that don't work. Buyer BEWARE! REPLACE THE SPEAKERS

Seems like they're trying to cut corners because the Pi is now not the affordable little SBC anymore, they're hard to find and they're marked up 4 to 6 times more, So they're probably trying to find an equivalent alternative

This is Crazy! I ordered Raspberry pi and lcd Marquee. They didn't send me hdmi mini cables. I Notify them about it. They said they really low on stock with hdmi mini . They offered to sell me the hdmi mini cables 🤔. They don't understand that I already paid for it with their prices 😤 ( Raspberry pi and Marquee) $300

@@xander526 That's up to you but if they have taken your money and not delivered what you & not answering back, you should report them. I bought my own backup Raspberry Pi and flashed a copy of what came on the SD card in case I need a replacement.

First off I am not a friend of GRS. With all due respect I just seen the price you paid for this unit and I listened to all of your complaints I believe you don’t have nothing to complain about. You bought a DIY kit and it dose not hide the fact that it is half inch material. Modding is expected on something like this especially when you are talking about games. Of course you need to configure those to your needs. If you paid $6000- $10000 plus shipping on a fully plug and play machine absolutely go off on it but this is a starter beginner thing. If you bought a licensed games like arcade 1 up stuff and it not up to par absolutely complain about software. I would never buy from this company either but that is because I can do everything myself. If you wanted a cheaper price tag that is what you should have done. I do want to give you some credit for the mods you made but would suggest a simple bottel of white glue in addition to those came locks, and brackets you added.

That's fair, I simply didn't know better. And starting out I just figured asking them a few questions was not a big deal but the customer service sucks! I've been quite familiar with Mame since 2000 and more recently Retroach but I'd like to learn more.

@@christopherbrown5338 There are tons of groups on Facebook that would love your ideas on modding. I say focus on the positive stuff you did on that cabinet and forget the rest. Lastly you can now sell that very nice cabinet you modified and start on a new project using that capital. You will learn more that way. BTW solid work.

I am sorry to say but YOU are to blame buying the rubbish in the first place. Why would you buy a cabinet that is not full height anyway? Why would you want a riser for? It does not look authentic. I am glad to see them releasing larger cabinets and not needing a riser, if they release all their back catalogue, I will start buying them. However, I have a build your own, which I might scrap and go for a Atgames legends ultimate cabinet instead.

@@christopherbrown5338 I know that most of the buyers who've talked with Tina have had bad experiences with her. By chance, have you ever talked to Cortney before? I've talked to her through the chat box and she seems pretty nice. Also, looking at some other posts, Tina doesn't seem like much of a bad person, but I could be wrong.
