Here is my showcase video for my Arcade1Up 1943 The Battle of Midway Cabaret Arcade Mod! In this video I will show off the Arcade and walk you through the mod I did and highlight some of the challenges converting an Arcade1Up Pac-Man Plus Cabaret Arcade into this 1943 Cabaret!

Kicking myself for not picking one of these cabarets up. Great job PDubs!! If I stumbled on one of these, I'd turn it into a cabaret Gorf. Saw a handful of those back in the day.

PDub, what an excellent project. I haven’t got up the balls yet to build one myself but you give me hope. Theres still a stack of NFL Blitz’s at Ollie’s waiting on me to grab one for modding. I’m still keeping my original one intact. Loved the work. 🖖🏼

Love this mod! I been building multicades since the 1st pandoras box. The boxes arent perfect but they also arent as bad as alot of people make out either. For the money they are a good choice for a multi cab

Great work! Btw, you can add an A1U molded coin door to this as well.. I had the same issue adding one to my Rampage cabinet with the K panel that goes through the middle. I just measure where it goes and drilled into the K panel. It doesn't really mess w the structure of the cabinet. Just an FYI if you want to explore it. Made all the difference on mine. Keep up the cool mods!

Dude great job on that conversion! That cabinet looks pretty dope and quite detailed! Honestly for me I would have put a SFF Dell Optiplex PC with Lauchbox/Big Box. That is what I run on my PC modded Arcade1up cabinets.

I prefer PC mods these days but I was already wired up for Jamma and had the King of Air in a drawer the last 2 years so I got some use out of it.

You can cut a notch in the K panel to get the functional coin door to fit. I did that for my Star Wars v1, and have had zero stability issues.

PDubs, This is an amazing mod! It's funny how we seem to be on opposites on things like... I like New York Style Pizza better, you like Chicago Style. I like Coke-A-Cola better and you like Pepsi. I'm a 1942 guy over 1943, and you're vice versa. But when it comes down to it, we still find a way to celebrate our likes and differences! I love this Arcade1Up design, and though I don't really like the game Pac-Man Plus, I've always adored its marquee. And the way you've transformed this cabinet into a beautiful 1943 is fantastic! I think the Arcade1Up Super Pac-Man Partycade I bought from DIY Retro Arcade is using a similar vertical build Pandoras Box. Such a great collection of vertical games. And though no Pandora's box is perfect (at least that I've found), there's no denying the plug and play nature of them is a boon! And I've found enough games that do play and sound great that they are a value to me. Now if we can just get you to take a sitdown Arcade1Up Outrun and make it into a sitdown Afterburner, that would STUPENDOUS! Just kidding. Would probably make any grown man look like a Doofus playing it😋 Have a Great One! vgv

You did a phenomenal job as expected, I also have this did the 60 in 1 I did change the speakers and i love the slant on the monitor excellent viewing and I actually installed lite up 25 cent buttons installed them right on the a1up red coin spot , this really turned great looking!

I think it was a good conversion. However, I would have kept that light up J-panel and had Joe Szabo do something with it to make it even more unique. I sent my Pac-Plus j-panel to Joe last week and he is going to replace that flabby, wavy, and washed-out Pac Man graphic along with the marquee. Just my opinion, but the black replacement insert j-panel doesn't look great. Also, I added a 1up molded coin door last year to this cab and I don't recall having any issues. This and a proper 1943 themed j-panel would really do this cab well.

Looks great and the Pandora's Box was a good choice! Only thing is the 1943 on the control panel is blocked by the joystick.

Right on, 60 in 1 has issues, King of Air has a few as well, I prefer PC builds at this point myself. But, we got it done!

That's pretty cool and good call with not going with a 60-n-1. The only good about those boards is that they are cheap. The multiple emulation errors they have just kill the experience for me.

Did you install a Gate-Switcher (8-way to 4-way) OR did you set the Joystick up with an 8-way Gate? If you used a Gate Switcher...did you use the GRS product?

Just have an octagonal gate in there, I was already pushing the budget here and again this one isn't one I was planning on keeping so didn't want to go "all out"

I have done coin door before with K bar remove. You really don't need it. There's always a way than having that ugly coin door decal. That is at least a $200 mod from Szabos fyi.

I added the 1up molded coin-door as well to the Pac-Plus cab. I don't recall having much of an issue with installing it. I am waiting on replacement J-panel and Pac-Plus marquee from Joe Szabo which will really do this cab some justice.

Ya, that's what I must have done. But, the molded door is so much nicer then the POS coin door graphic they used for thankfully a brief period of time. IMO those sticker coin doors looked worse then the games list. The coin doors can be purchased directly from 1up for 15 non lighted or 30 lighted. Learned that from the chat in one of the Cornercade live streams. But, you probably already know that.@@PDubsArcadeLoft

@@PDubsArcadeLoft I just took a look at mine to see how I handled it. You don't have to drill thru the cross member at all. Once you line up.the molded door over the sticker and center it, the top two screws will be just a hair below that cross member. So, this should be fairly easy and will make a huge difference IMO.
