Price is way out of wack. Emulation issues with screen tearing. I thought I noticed the bilinear filtering still on this. It is used to mask the emulation issues(screen tearing….etc). Great review and much respect for buying this to show the reality of the situation.

Trashcade For $180, it should include a couch.

i liked the throwing away the cade at the end... well worth the video watch for the few laughs.

They need to add Ms. PAC Man to these. Would be a must have if it contained all the pacs.

I used to work at BED BATH & BEYOND so this couchcade is beyond me 😂

Rolling Thunder is really fun. Just started getting into it. Very hard but fun, and some of the best music ever. This thing is a glorified plug 'n play with a cheap pillow slapped on it, and charging $180 for it is absolutely insulting. It should be $50 tops. I don't like when A1Up does stuff like this that feels slimy and predatory.

As a long time Pac-Man fan, I thought $180 was insanely steep for that stick. BUT, I was willing to still buy it BECAUSE it's Pac-Man. I was disappointed because there was no speed settings for Galaga or Pac-Man, but I figured no big deal since there was a micro SD card slot allowing for me to add games. Once I saw that you couldn't, there was no way I was buying this. Thank you for the video!

It's stuff like this is why true Hobbyist don't take A1Up seriously and that theyre just a toy company . Don't forget Micro Center released their Atari themed Pi3 couchcade version with fight stick, trackball, and spinner for $199. It's also a way better built than this A1Up version.

I bought the Atari one...that list of games, so easy to access with the specialty controllers was just too much to pass up. I knew I would regret it if the product disappeared and I didn't get one. I'll wait on the Pac Man one, those games are not as big a deal to me (except Galaxian and Dig Dug)

Woah. $180. Just goes to show A1U is not shy about ripping off their customers. I’ve gotten similar things to this in the past for my mom for less than $50. Makes me question their pricing on everything. Like those damn stools being nearly $100. I’ve seen stools with the same exact design going for less than half that price which means it probably even less to manufacture them. So A1U has like at least a $70 markup. I get they have to license the graphics and share profits but that’s still crazy high. Especially since the stool is barley comfortable.

Yeah … I like the concept and the presentation (except for the optional side bars - agree that they should have been customized for each included game.). I think this thing will sell to people who just want a convenient way for their kids to play these classic games and aren’t interested in cabinets. The initial price is a little high, but I bet WalMart will be selling scads of these things ‘discounted” to $99 by Labor Day!

I got mine for $86 from HSN. Just had to get a HSN Card from them to get $50 off my first purchase which I used to buy this Couchcade. Makes it much more worth the price. They have it on sale for $129.99 for anyone that doesn't want to get an HSN card but to me it was worth getting.

I really don't like that this thing uses disposable batteries. It's one thing for devices like flashlights to use batteries, since you want an easily swappable power source for emergencies, but there's no reason for a recreational item to ever need them. In an item like this, the need for batteries just creates waste, and that can be a problem if those batteries aren't properly disposed of.

All you need is 3 things. A X-Arcade stick/A OTG cable/ and a firestick with Mame on it. This method is still cheaper than buying that.

Nice review Mr.Dub. I don’t know why when I see the name of this system I read Crotchcade? My wife is a #1 Pac-Man fan and has had every Pac-Man emulation. They have all gone in the trash. She will tell you It’s not Pac-Man unless it’s played standing up on a arcade cabinet. “That’s what she said”

I just want a beanbag mod for my atgames legends mini, LOL! this seems cool but even at full price the gamer mini is definitely the better deal, you get a lot more just out of the box even before you get into adding additional games! I do give them credit for the cushion idea though.... that ending though, LMAO! XD

It's funny, the whole video, I was thinking maybe $79, but really more like $49.99 would be what it would be worth. I think Arcade1up will regret coming out with this. Maybe if they included 30+ games.

Lol !! Your dogs didn't look to interested either. I bought a ms.pacman " partycade for about 200 bucks back in March. I feel like I got my money worth out of it. It's definitely over price. There's pandora box out there for about 160 bucks with like 3000 games in it. As always great video.

Fair play to you for going out and buying this so the rest of us don't have to. I really think the absence of a rechargeable battery pack is either lazy or cheap, the USB is on the back on the control deck so it must have been though of at one stage and then they decided not to. Like you say, the price is WAY too high for what it is and there are other devices already established in the market that do things much better. Not only is this a waste of money to buy, it was a waste of money for Arcade 1up to design and manufacture

Hey PDubs, great review. I'm glad you felt as though it was over priced for what it is. I was worried a little that you were going to be a big fan!! Aside from alllll the objective points you made about it, my grandmother had a few of those lap desks in the 80s and I just can't stop seeing those when I look at this!! I have to admit though, this came out of left field. I'm admittedly curious what "new" thing A1up will come up with next to play Pac Man on!!!!

I dont see why you would want one of these over an Atgames legends mini. It doesnt have the ‘nostalgia’ of the arcade1up cabinets which arcade1up is known for.

I dumped what feels like hundreds of quarters into the Rolling Thunder machine that was in the HEB where my mom shopped, still in my mame faves list

Quite surprised arcade 1up hasn't done a Williams arcade package.. You know. DEFENDER. STARGATE. JOUST. JOUST 2. ROBOTRON. SINISTAR. My only guess why that hasn't happened.. Williams electronic is still focusing on slot machines.. Then their historic contribution arcade games.. And cough cough pinball machines. Copyright legal tape? Maybe just a hunch..

I can clearly see the game delay when moving Pac-Man around the turns. That problem there makes this completely unplayable! Out of the few reviews out there that is the problem everyone is complaining about! Do companies actually try their own product out before going public with it? And they're asking $180 to boot?😱

Nice video and review! It will be interesting to see how well it sells. I think it's a much better option than the crappy controller with no options. I do wish the boards changed for each game. Still a nice option for those looking to play some arcades on the TV. I'm still holding out for the toiletcade that's rumoured for 2023. That has to be next now that we have baby and couchcade right?

What is in the guts…can you add a raspberry pi to it to add games? Kind of like switching out the motherboard in the countercade? Did you do a breakdown of the internals?

Wow! I can't believe you got this so fast! Finally seeing this in action, this shit seems kinda awesome! I love that it had what seems like Real T-Molding on the side, and I love that you CAN get to the Joystick and Buttons and upgrade whatever you want. Wow. 👏👏👏 Despite how you ended it and what you think, I think this is a Solid Official Product. It isn't for me but I would definitely feel comfortable getting this as a gift for someone to have a worth while gaming experience.

Great honest review video! I agree that for what it is, it's a bit overpriced. I think the concept is great, but surely they could add several other titles to entice their clientele. What I would actually love to see is Arcade 1 up come out with ROADBLASTERS!!! I may be dreaming.

I agree, for your $179 you'll be better off with a Pandora's Box 3D+ Saga EX2 or whatever they are called. 😅

And with the release of arcade 1up Tron Dragons lare and space ace.. definitely quite surprised me.. I would definitely own those if I could afford it.. But they can only go with NAMCO only for so long.. They need to start deep diving into other arcade manufacturers of the time.. ATARI WILLIAMS CENTURI STERN you know berserk and frenzy.. SNK NEO GEO SEGA and so on. Pac-Man and galaga can only go so far.. until the customer base get bored.. Just a theory and a hunch..

Yep. Should be a less than $100 novelty gift. It’s not that it’s a bad idea, but their pricing is ridiculous.

Fewer beans in the bag? Done. Dual boot to allow more value? Fuggetaboutit. Not doing a custom UI that's actually readable? Awesome. Side art option? Sure, but don't you DARE make one for each game. But you nailed it, Pdubs... it's way, WAYYYYY overpriced when you can get a Legends Gamer for $99 and a Legends Mini for $50 (and no, they're not sold out... I've bought one of each with the past, couple weeks... Gamestop restocks frequently). The only thing missing from those? Well, there's not a lot beans in 'em.

Great review for me $100 is reasonable because at games you get more options better price when on sale it’s a pass for me I am starting to get agitated with arcade 1 up I buy there product that just comes out 6 weeks later on sale I slowly starting to drift away from them they need to set fair prices keep them at that

You can get all of those games on your PS4, Xbox, Switch and use a $40 arcade stick for the same experience

Hello, my dad grew up playing Pacman and I've been eyeing this as a Christmas gift for him. Would you recommend something else that can still get him that arcade gaming experience?

Seems like a good idea but, you're correct on the price. $100 - $120 should be the price point. It will drop in price once they realize that people won't buy these. Especially since you can't add games.

What is the best one of the ones you mentioned? Looking for one that plays the old classic arcade games like Pac Man, Donkey Kong, and stuff of that era... Thanks in advance!

My Atari unit arrived. The trackball and spinner controls are unplayably jumpy. I put in a support ticket to see if it’s a known issue. Button game asteroids is fine

Too expensive. Make it $99 or less and it becomes a maybe. Also, should let you add games via the micro SD card slot. Lame they removed that capability. Pass for me.

This seems closer to what those weird 6-button joypads they tried should had been from the getgo. But I feel like charging nearly double what you can get an AtGames Legends joystick for is ridiculous.

It would have been smarter for 1up to sell us the crack they were smoking when they designed this thing. Nobody in there right mind would pay $180.00 for this when you can buy the namco collection on just about every console to have ever been released for under $30.00That bezel looks like it was designed by the dollar store. And if they have the capability to print quality vinyl graphics then why the hell are we on pins and needles screwing in cheap acrylic deck protectors? I literally hate this thing. I could under stand if it were under $50.00 but this is like paying for front row seats and sitting in the back. Burn it with fire.

I think I hold off and wait for the couchcade pro or xl announcement. 😁

They are a bit cheaper on qvc...if they drop under $100, Ill snag one. I like to play pac on a vertical display. Does this allow you to play on a vertical setup?

For that price I can buy an Xbox one on Offerup. Or I can buy a slightly used Arcade1up cabinet.

PDubs, I wonder, since Couchcade does come with a pairing mode, if you could pair it with the older Mega Man TV unit. Then you can use the Couchcade controller to play the extra games :) vgv

can add more games with new hdmi modules, but the trackball/spinner one is pretty much what it is (and my favorite) the other one, they made the controller too limited for 179.99

180 bucks for emulation is way to much, you can just buy a real nice arcade stick with Bluetooth for that much and just find your own roms hooking it up to many devices, cell phones, tablets android boxes and other consoles ect...
