It feels like Jinx/Powder is still dealing with the same issue of wanting to be "useful" or "you're ready", so when Silco told her to take some time instead of sending her to fix the problem she sort of internalized it as "you're not ready". I think that's probably why Silco let's her inject his eye, he's showing he trusts her even after she messed up.

@@SpartanOli It definitely shows a great level of trust, to let her stick a needle in his eye, without even flinching a little bit. That takes either incredible self-control or complete faith in the person doing it. And the way Jinx does it so confidently implies that it's something she does for him regularly.
@ammygamer

I had never thought of it from that angle, but now that you mention it, it makes complete sense as a show of trust. He **needs** to inject himself with that tool, whatever the problem with his eye is, he's allowing Jinx full control at his most vulnerable. She could just run away with it, but he decides to let her do it. Even when she is hurt and unstable, he chooses to place his trust in her. In her loyalty. You know, since it's the most important thing there is to Silco. And she realises that. And she **wants** him to trust her, because her whole character grew with cracks from feeling like people not trust her. It's probably what allows her to be at her most vulnerable around him, too.

i didn't catch it at first watch but powder already saw those scratches at the very beginning on the bridge. witnessing the bridge slaughter already started causing cracks in her mind. then always needing validation and disappointing people & all the trauma that kept happening to her just obviously made it worse. it's interesting to see how the sisters dealt differently with trauma. vi learned to rely on herself and her abilities (with vander's guidance) while powder still relied on external validation. i love the character complexities.

One thing I love about watching different reactors is the unique perspective. I like that you're the only one who accepts that Powder is now Jinx. So many people fight against it. They refuse to call her Jinx. You're also the only one I've seen actually get upset at the opening credits. Everyone else gets excited. I appreciate you for actually embracing the full magnitude of the trauma and not glossing over it. I think it allows you to bring great perspective to the discussion. I look forward to the insight you'll bring to the rest of the show. (and hope embracing the trauma doesn't wreck you too badly). You're also very right about the writing doing an excellent job of carrying forward relevant plot points. It makes it very hard to say anything about what's going on because of the way it ties to future events, its hard to not be spoilery. So I will refrain for now.

It is interesting to consider, that Powder might not even have noticed or registered that Vander's body was lying right next to Vi. In the opening scene on the Bridge, we see Powder covering her eyes and singing a song to sort of block out the violence, death, and destruction around her. Growing up in the Undercity, she would have witnessed even more violence, as seen in the fight scene in Episode one, this scares and traumatizes her. I think, based on this and later episodes, that Powder learned to block out violence in her mind, just like she did on the Bridge, to the point where she just doesn't see it at all - unless something happens to specifically call attention to it (such as Vi being upset about the Monkey Bomb, causing Powder to become confused and look around for the reason why she might be upset, and only then noticing Vander's corpse.) And this even seems to carry over to her life as Jinx - her complete disregard for human life isn't malice or sadism; she literally doesn't see the violence, even when causing it, to her it's almost like a game, and a challenge to prove her worth. Notice both on the air ship (before she freaks out) and when blowing up the building with the enforcers inside, it like she's toying with them, and the way she laughs after her trap succeeds, it's like a child who just won a game of hide-and-seek.

Powder developed a belief that her worth was based on her utility (what she can contribute) to her adopted family. That belief was carried over to her relationship with Silco. Belonging/fitting in to a family unit seems to be a driving force in Jinx's psyche.
@LadyDoomsinger
@LadyDoomsinger 2 жыл бұрын
In hindsight, now that you mention it, I wonder if part of this belief - that she has to "earn her place" isn't Vander's fault to some degree. In episode 1 Vi mentions that Vander taught them that they had to earn their own way in life and not expect handouts. Though I'm not saying Vander's a bad person - his personal philosophy might not have imparted the best lessons on a young, insecure, and traumatized child.

@@LadyDoomsinger I think it’s mean to be a symptom of oppression. When everyone around you is poor and struggling to get by, it’s a lot more of a “survival of the most useful”, compared to piltover, where people are free to pursue the arts, and their worth is not contingent upon their usefulness, and definitely not contingent on their usefulness in a fight.

Dont think thats so much her having issues but more the brutal reality of this world. It would be by our standards but thats an apples to oranges comparison. No one in this world is beyond killing people if they have to. You wouldnt either if you lived in a dystopian hell hole run by war lords and drug dealers. Death and dispair lurks around every corner and if youre not prepared to defend yourself by any means necessary. you wont live to be 10 years old. Dekker had no issues trying to kill Vi, he only backed down cuz he wasnt confident he would win. Vi had no problem smacking the other guy full force in the head with a broken 2x4, thats definitely potential lethal force. Clagger pulled out a 100% legit Spine buster on that third kid. Im not saying Powder DONT have issues, shes been traumatized since before she can remember... but her caring more if her bomb works than the guys safety in a potential life or death situation is not one I of the things Id count as evidence of her problems. In todays age, that would be called having issues. In a world like the Undercity, thats called being normal. Applying our worlds standards to this world is a logical fallacy. Edit: Shes also 8 years old... consequences is not really the first thing on her mind, especially since none of her bombs previously worked, she has no idea how much damage it would cause if it DID work. I build firebombs and experimented with fireworks when I was 10-11. Its just pure luck no one was hurt cuz I had no idea wtf I was doing or how actually dangerous it was.

Re: Silco and Vander. We don't get a real reveal over what the confrontation was about. But there are enough clues to see that it isn't as initially assumed that Vander was trying to stop Silco. In fact it's more possibly the reverse, but still not enough information. The flashback confrontation between Vander and Silco was long before Vander dropped the gauntlets and became "good". You can see in the 3rd flashback how young (pre-beard, no grey) Vander was, long before the prologue to episode 1. There are many discussions in the first 3 episodes indicating that the prologue bridge scene is what changed Vander, and prior to it, he was a violent extremist. Silco says that after the drowning and time passed, he still respected Vander, until an even later time when Vander made peace with topside and "played lapdog". So those events were pre-peaceful Vander. Silco also says that the drowning was when he learned that he'd have to stop at NOTHING, to do ANYTHING to win a fight with a superior foe. It's the event that radicalized Silco. Vander was still in full violence mode during that past confrontation with Silco. Vander was the aggressor, its why he still regretted it. Silco is the monster that Vander created.

Agreed! There's also the fact that if Silco was still with Vander during the opening scene and it's only after the failed rebellion that they had a falling out, Vi would already know who Silco is. Since she knew Vander, she would have known Vander's partner and co-leader of the rebellion. But she didn't. So Vander betraying Silco had to have happened long before that, and he stayed in the shadows for a long time cooking up a plan, biding his time and developing Shimmer.

I love Silco as a character as well, I love pretty much everything about Arcane but especially the characters. Even the characters I don't like as people I understand and even if I can't agree with what they think and do I understand why they feel that way. It is very impressive how they did this show to make you understand all the different views and how thing shape people. As for Jinx and what you was saying about she was probably always had issues, I completely agree and one thing I noticed that I have not seen anyone else comment on was. At the very start of episode 1 when Vi and Powder as very young kids was talking along the bridge during the opening scene. You seen those same scratchy marks over the faces of people here and there. At the time I thought nothing of it, until episode 4 this one. Then you start seeing it a lot when you are kinda put into Jinx head. I think that was the shows way of foreshadowing and showing that Powder always had these issues, I think Vi stabilizing was influence was the only thing keeping her in check to a degree. But if you think about, even with Vi she was kinda unstable, she was a little girl making nail bombs and in episode one when she tried to use one on that one kid. She looked excited to see her nail bomb rip the kid apart. So I think "Jinx" and her mental disorders was always there lurking under the surface of Powder, at least since she was how ever old she was in the intro and it seemed to be getting worse with her nail bombs and eagerness to use them, even with Vi's influence on her. Now add in Silco likely encouraged her to tinker and be violent and the PTSD from what happened in episode 3 and you end up with a very broken teenage girl that loves mayhem and carnage and we get Jinx. Really I can't feel anything but sad for the character, because you have to wonder who she could have been if she got the proper mental health care and was raised in a better environment. Anyways great reaction look forward to the next one. If I say that again like I did yesterday on the previous video, would that magically get us your next video tomorrow? :)

SPOİLERS This comment contains spoilers that will cover all the episodes of the arcane. If you haven't watched all the episodes, don't look further. Especially funnylilgalreacts, I hope you read this comment after the drama is over. You say it encouraged them to be violent, but if you look at the world they live in, there is this inside all of the zaunlu (underground people), believe it or not, there are those who misunderstand the character of silco. Vander, silco and even Powder's parents in their time wanted to be involved in this war and they were killed in the end. Because piltover exploited them because of the place they lived in. They were forced to work in the mines. When Piltover dumped all their garbage underground in his city. They were poisoning the waters and even the air of the underground city. You cannot say that any of the actions taken in the underground city were done to be evil, selfish and irresponsible. (I'm not saying you say that, I'm just telling the truth of the world) The people they are formed due to piltover Zaun (underground city) is the monster created by piltover. There are many monster themes in the series. But there is one thing that creates all the monsters and creates the scariest of them all - piltover management.

I'm sorry about your sister I imagine that is very hard I hope you can find peace in time! I love your reactions. I think I forgot to comment this last time but as the younger sister by 10 years I also felt a lot of connection to their sister story! My sister and I are very different. Growing up she was like the Vi to my Powder I was more sheltered than her and she looked out for me. We grew up in a somewhat dangerous area but because of a huge hurricane when I was 8 we lost everything and moved to a different state. We stayed under a bridge for 3 days with other displaced people we saw bodies floating in the water and people losing family member and so much crying and violence. The experience harden me dramatically. I spent the next two years so disconnected I could not remember much at all teachers or students who said I had befriended them over those 2 years I was convinced I'd just met. My sister was also affected and our family dynamics became strained my sister was not pleased about living somewhere new she had barely started college lost all her friends and it was challenging she moved out to do her own thing. It is not the same as losing her completely but it was a lot sudden change at a hard time for all of us. I admire my sister a lot and it was kinda funny to realize how much I unintentionally mimic her. Despite being much older now in her eyes I am still a baby and she still wants to look out for me and tell me what to do. We have come a long way in those years I'm 25 now and she is nurse she's been traveling lots helping out hospitals because of covid and she's pursuing a masters. I am a year and a half out from getting my bachelors in Healthcare administration. Very proud of the growing we've done and the kindness we didn't lose. Something I just realized with this viewing: Jinx was carrying a backpack when going into Jayce's lab. In other words, she had no idea what she'd find in there, and was probably just assuming she'd make off with some gadgets/machinery. Instead, she hit the jackpot. A jackpot she didn't need a whole backpack for. In fact, in many scenes with powder and violet dialogue for the first two episodes, there's a lot more information than you might think. And that dust includes his devotion to his toys, as well as his reaction to Vander's corpse. Edit: (Contains some episode 3 dialogue and scene info) THIS ARTICLE MAY BE VERY LONG, BUT IT REALLY HAS TOO MANY HIDDEN MICRO PRESENTATIONS AND MEANING FOR THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS. Mostly between dust, vi, cloggar and mylo. In this comment I will post, I saw a great analysis comment explaining the first two episodes of arcane for powder and its other brothers, I would like to share. When you take a serious look at the section where people say that the first two chapters are very empty, they just introduce the world, there is nothing important, you can see that they have loaded a lot. Character analysis for the first 2 episodes (for the Underground city): The scene is when Powder is creating a new toy on her bed and Vi comes in to sit down to try to cheer her up. Almost every react I've seen of that scene is the same... "awe, isn't that adorable, big sister is here to cheer her up.. she's so supportive, that's so sweet!".... but that ISN'T what we see in that scene. Vi's talk with Powder in that scene unintentionally MAKES POWDER FEEL WORSE. You can see that by watching Powder's reactions and actual body language. Powder says "You heard them, I'm not a fighter" and pushes her head against her toy for comfort (that part is actually important too, but we'll get to that). Vi responds with "you don't have to be" and those words make powder WINCE in pain and push harder against her toy and actually smack her head against it. That didn't help at all.... it HURT DEEPLY. But why? Think about the kids... what do they value as a group? Well, who is their mentor? Vander... a hulking mountain of muscle that punches things until they stop being problems. So, the kids value that.. physical strength and the ability to fight and make problems become non-problems through sheer strength of muscle. We'll get back to that, but first we have to establish the power dynamic of the group. Everyone points out Mylo mistreating Powder, constantly reminding her of her failures. But, very few people point out Mylo's mistreatment by Vi and Claggor, who do the same thing to him, but with a physical element added in... his theme seems to be "humiliate Mylo and physically remind him of his place in the group" The hierarchy is clear.. Vi and Claggor are on fairly even footing.. Vi is the leader, but Claggor is a close second. Mylo lags far behind.. far enough that Vi and Claggor regularly bully him, even physically. Powder is the bottom of the ladder... and, as they say, sh*t rolls downhill. It is a bully chain with Powder at the bottom. So are Vi and Claggor just mean bullies and horrible people? No, not really... there is a scene on the bridge with Vander (episode 2) when he is talking to Vi that puts it into perspective. Vi says "I've known my whole life that I'm less than them.. that my place is down there"... The Piltover residents, and particularly the enforcers, remind EVERYONE in the undercity at every turn.. every single chance they get.. that they are nothing but trencher trash that deserve to live out their miserable existence in the muck. Everyone in the undercity suffers from a massive inferiority complex.. they really have no choice. And, that sort of angst has to go somewhere. It's why a kid bullied at school will often come home and abuse the pets, or their smaller siblings... sh*t rolls downhill, and that sort of thing has to have a release... and the undercity residents just pass theirs around and down the chain. So, let's imagine each kid in the group gets a dose of this from the world. Vi probably gets more, Powder probably less... so let's say... Vi gets 1.5, Claggor gets 1, Mylo gets 1, Powder gets 0.5 doses of oppression from the world at large. Vi passes hers to Mylo, as does Claggor, which is why we see Vi bully Mylo more than Claggor.. she has more angst to unload. Mylo now has 3.5 doses of angst.. his 1, plus 1 from Claggor, and 1.5 from Vi... so he hands it off to Powder, which is why we see him treat her worse than Vi or Claggor treat him (although to his credit, he doesn't seem to include a physical element like what is handed to him) So Powder now has 4 full doses of angst.. 0.5 from the world, plus 3.5 from Mylo... what does she do with it? Remember, it has to go somewhere. We'll get back to this in a sec. Back to the scene on the bed.. Vi tries to convince Powder that they all have their own skills, hers is punching, Powders is "those"..pointing to her toys. But does this actually ring true? Does Vi actually value skills other than physical brute ability? To answer this, consider the scene on the balcony. Mylo is about to shine, demonstrating his unique skill.. not a physical one.. a mental one.. lock-picking. Does Vi give him a chance to demonstrate his worth in this alternate manner? NO. She kicks the door in before he even really starts, as if to say "This is what we think of your silly lock-picking, Mylo.. THIS is how we solve problems in this group"... and Claggor gives him a smack on the back of the head to drive it home... remember.. humiliate Mylo and physically remind him of his place in the group. So, with all of this in mind.. let's revisit the scene: Powder has an internal struggle.. it can be best phrased as "I do not offer significant value to the group".. or more directly: "I'm not worthy". She makes her first point in support of this inner struggle: Powder: I screwed everything up.. I always do. Vi: Nobody said that. THIS IS NOT A DENIAL OF THE ASSERTION... "Nobody said that" is NOT the same as "No you don't" Besides, Mylo has been literally saying that all day. Powder smells the bullsh*t a mile away... she is a SMART kid. Powder: No, just that you were twice the person at half my age. Vi: (Has literally no response to this, because she's completely caught) First point... CONFIRMED. Powder makes her second point in support of her inner turmoil. Powder: You heard them. I'm not a fighter. (I don't offer the single skill that our group values most highly) Vi: You don't have to be. Translation: YOU ARE RIGHT.. YOU AREN'T A FIGHTER AND LIKELY NEVER WILL BE This admission from Vi that Powder isn't a fighter and likely never will be HURTS DEEPLY... makes Powder wince in pain and push against her toy for comfort. It hurt her so much because Vi confirmed her fear... she doesn't, and probably can't ever, offer the most highly-valued skill for the group. Second point.. CONFIRMED. Vi attempts to help. Vi: Look.. I've got these (proudly clenches fist) .. (I have the most highly valued skill that you aren't likely to ever have) Vi: And you've got those (points to contraptions that never work) Powder concedes that there might be SOME value in the contraptions, even if not the highly-prized value of punching things. Powder: But they never work! (This is CRUCIAL.. the perceived value in them is still not present, because their value is contingent on them actually working) Vi: But they will (YOU ARE CORRECT.. there is no current value in them, but there might be, if you can get them to work)... Third point.. CONFIRMED. Powder's ultimate response: Slumped shoulders, completely defeated. So, let's take the conversation one more time as a trimmed-up translation of what Powder heard: Powder: I'm not worthy Vi: You are right, you aren't worthy, but some day you might be, IF you can get these things to work. Now the payoff... what does Powder do with all of her angst she gets from Mylo and the world? And why does she push against her toy for comfort? Same answer... because all of Powder's angst goes into her contraption toys, which become her source of comfort. And how does that mean that Powder is dangerously unstable inside? Well.. what are Powder's toys meant to do? There is a scene when she throws Mouser at the boy chasing her... she has filled Mouser with nails and tossed her at the boy.. and then stares.. intently.. wondrously... waiting to see something.. what is she hoping happens? What is she wishing with all her might to see? The same thing she saw on that bridge in the first scene.. the very first thing she saw in the smoke.. an explosion and a flying corpse. Powder builds toys that are meant to MURDER people. The kid builds NAIL BOMBS as toys... and actually wants them.. desperately needs them.. to work.. to seriously harm people. And no one seems to notice. Imagine a kid who made an endless stream of rubber knives with cute faces on them and fake blood, and constantly attempted to slit people's throats with them, and showed true disappointment when there was no squirting of blood and screaming in pain. Cute? Uhm.. maybe? Troubling? Alarming? You are damn right... a kid who does that needs therapy. I love Powder, and really wish someone would get the kid a therapist. Another superb reaction, sincere and frank as we all like to have! I'm glad you like the direction of the story (and especially that of its characters). It's already very rare at this stage to see that you like Silco's character more or less, but your arguments are credible and convincing. Can't wait to see the rest of this series with you. I discovered your channel with Arcane and I already feel like I know you a little more personally and in particular why this story ultimately has so much impact on yours. Your reactions are personal and touching and we notice how emotional you can be (which is not a bad thing, quite the contrary). Finally, I would say that we are as attached to you as to the characters in this magnificent series. PS: By the way and to answer your question without adding any spoilers, Hexgates are indeed teleportation portals that allow you to go from one place to another as it exists in many video games. This Hextech technology was created by Jayce and Viktor and greatly improved Piltover's economy, leaving Zaun more and more in poverty.
@n0bleonline222

It's a fact in episode 3 (explanation), not a spoiler Jayce and Viktor are floating in the air when they untie the hextech. When Jayce pushed a ring-like screw (I can't remember the name) against the hextech stone, the ring-like screw made a rapid transition from one point to another (teleported). Hexgates are probably their first invention. Because they discovered it first. Teleporting from one place to another.

12:30 I believe it was a kind of teleportation. My reasoning being that young Jayce & Mom were teleported by the mage from a freezing to a temperate environment, and after him and Viktor completed their first HexTech experiment the little gear kind of zapped through the center and appeared on the other side.

Just a few random thoughts: I think you're exactly right about Vi just needing some time and not meaning to leave Powder. She just had her whole world shattered and she lashed out, but I don't believe she truly thought about leaving Powder even for a second. They do such an amazing job in this show of giving every character layers. I put off watching this show for so long because I thought it used that shitty 3d CG animation and I have never been so happy to be so wrong in my life.

You mentioning how you feel there are what look like throwaway parts that will probably end up with more meaning, or as a setup to later events made me remember. The very first scene in the whole show. Where VI and Powder's parents are killed. You get the first hints of Powder's mental instability. The flashes of the scratchy graphics glitching over some shots. Her "insanity" glitches. A subtle indicator about where her mental scars truly began. Nobody at all would register those, unless they had already watched the full season. Beautiful subtlety.

one thing I feel is good to keep in mind is that jink has obviously has a lot of trauma but vi has her own set of isssues as well. she was older than jink during episode 3 but she was still a kid. even in the first 3 episodes you can see that they both carry trauma from losing their parents and simply deal with it in very different ways. jink is a big extreme so she often gets both the viewers and my attention during a first watch through. this is totally deserved but I reccommed while watching the show to apply the trauma of episode 3 to both of the sisters as their actions can very much be connected to that moment

With Powder he couldn't control himself, until it was too late. She turned away from him out of embarrassment instead of confronting the powder when she realized it. She abandoned him from Powder's point of view. Violet could not control her monsters. She just created more monsters. If you've watched Act 3, you know what it means.

Love your analysis and reaction! I want to address 3 things you said in the pre-show comments. First, you commented on the "breakdown" scene of Powder after she was left behind. We have to be very careful about trying to understand things from her perspective. What was her greatest fear and anxiety? Feeling useless and being left behind. What happened to her this time? She was left behind because she was useless. Vi did not lock her in. She never planned to go after them against Vi's wishes. She stayed behind because she realized Vi was right: she's "not ready," she could not contribute, she was useless. To accept the fact that you are useless and have to stay behind while your whole world is about to die? It's enough to cause anyone to lose their mind. She did not go after them until she realized the potential of the crystals, until she realized Vi was wrong about her being useless. Then, you mentioned the mystery of the relationship between Vander and Silco. This is my speculation (just speculation, not a spoiler; and as the show goes on you will eventually you will see why): they were both revolutionaries. Vander eventually reached a truce with the upper city, but Silco wanted to fight on. One of the conditions of the truce was that Vander, as the leader of the undercity, must get rid of the more radical elements. Real history is full of examples where the more pragmatic revolutionaries turn on the more radical ones. Third, you talked about how Silco saw a connection between himself and Powder. The show visually cues this: note Silco's pose while he was drowning, and Powder's pose while she was falling. While he was being betrayed, choked, drowned, no one was there for him. He had to rescue himself physically and psychologically. Now he saw someone else in a similar situation, he wanted to extend a hand.

I think the most interesting part of Heimerdingers "(a decade) zips by you in the blink of an eye" Statement that you can clearly see how upset _Viktor_ in particular is. And it doesn't even seem to _occur_ to heimerdinger that Viktors Illness may prevent him from seeing the fullfillment of his work. It isn#t malicious, but it shows how little Heimerdinger understands the _drive_ that mortality gives humans and how much fear and desperation it can cause.

As I watched these series, I found myself relating to Jinx a lot, referring to schizophrenia, abandonment issues, PSTD and wanting to please that "one person" by any means necessary. While I am not crazy chaotic as Jinx is, the series really portrays the inner struggle really well. Hearing voices that aren't there that are constantly mocking and throwing you down really puts one on the defense at all times and most of the times, it is hard to tell what's real and what isn't. When I reunited with my sister, she left me again, saying I was too much and that my face was a "trigger." She is now another voice in my head. (I would also like to add, tysm for replying to my other comment on your previous video. It really made my day.

I was confused as hell the first time I watched that opening battle over the “Shimmer” and the trigger the redhead “Firelight” who looked like Vi caused in Jinx; still not sure if the Firelight looked like Vi or Jinx just imagined the resemblance. Anyhow, I like the idea you had that hex magic exposure to Shimmer made it more stable so Silco and his gang could more safely use it as a power up and, we’ll, a kind of therapeutic treatment. Rock on, FLGR!!! Until your next reaction post😉👍

In that episode, every reactor locks on to Violet's young face when she sees it. We can already see the real face of the girl in the next scene. But of course, after seeing that young face of Violet, it can be understood that she closed the subject by saying "AA is the sister of this powder, violet". But of course this powder's violet was the last time he saw it, violet looked like that when powder was little. There are many people who think that Violet died there or that she was injured, healed and thrown into prison at that time. It's so silly :D But of course, not every person can know and understand those views of the jinx. So it's an understandable response. But it's even funnier that they think they killed the main character. funnylilgalreacts I have nothing to say to you, don't be misunderstood. There are such reactors that you don't want to know what you think of the characters. I've seen some reactors that think really scary things about the characters. It is perfectly normal and understandable for you to think so.

What I’ll say about this show (among the countless things that can be said for this masterpiece)- the animators payed attention to every detail. 17:40 isn’t even “the biggest scene” yet everything that happens tells a story without words. Jayce breaks the rock and the fallout almost crushes the Poro (Heimer’s pet). The laser looks like it blasts through Heimer’s face at the first angle they show it, implying that the laser could just as easily be used for misdoing. And finally, they burn the poor little Poro. A “one, two, three” really quick to hammer home what Heimerdinger is going to say before he even says it. They make it clear to the audience members (who pay close attention) that their science is plenty dangerous. Just masterful visual storytelling all around in this show

I really enjoy the way you react to this show! most people just show the episode and skip any serious thoughts about the characters and story which is so sad because the show absolutely has the necessary depth and is cut down to a point where almost every single frame has relevant details that expand the story. So it's such a nice change to see you actually go in-depth and talk about your thoughts. I also love how great Arcane depicts its characters. They are mostly based on archetypes but they all have a twist to them that makes them feel so much more real than 90% of the shows out there. They have motivations and flaws and act upon them and you can understand why they act the way they do (sooner or later)

There are two points that, i think, make all the difference, first, the writers are not just hired to write the show, they are involved with the game characters for many years, some of them have created those characters themself, so they are their "babies", so to say. Second is the international aspect, a French studio working for a american game developer that belongs to a chinese company, makes a TV show based on a game played globaly with massive popularity all over the world. edit: Heimerdinger is a portmanteau of J. Robert Oppenheimer "father of the atomic bomb" and Erwin Schrödinger's last names. So he looks like Einstein for a reason 😉

This is probably incorrect. SPOILERS FOR THE NEXT EPISODE: 1. If Vi was the pound of flesh, she would have a record. 2. The councillors wanted someone to make an example of publicly. If Marcus had put the robbery on Vi, it would have been impossible to hide Vi from Silco. 3. Grayson's death and Jayce's rehabilitation probably overshadowed the robbery, especially since magic was the reason the council wanted to make an example but with them accepting hextech, they would want to rehabilitate magic. Vi was thrown in prison secretly, and not as a sacrifice to the council.

Your comments on the writers and foreshadowing, these are characters that were in the game a decade at that point, a significant part (most?) of the audience knows the characters future. Part of what makes the shocking parts so shocking to a new viewer, because the writers are trying to shock and surprise people who know the characters backstory.

That's why it was in their code of Ethos that banishment is immediate But bcos of the scale of the war, Piltover is NOT the only kingdom built to fight against magic and resist it If Arcane widens it scope to other areas of the "globe", per se, there are so many interesting things about ppl being against magic in diff ways and so many many many deeply intricate stores and characters there too And also ofc the ppl who are magical and do more occult (not always bad) stuff This world has gods if you can believe it xD I'm so excited for how much the world of Arcane can cover I'm almost crying now 😭 Anyway glad you found this series and hope you continue to enjoy it

Heimerdinger's mentality of taking your time with things shows the problem with his perspective. He lives for a very long time without really aging, so he doesn't see the fact that other people might not have all the time in the world. Adding on that that video was animated by Fortiche, the same studio that did Arcane.

A bit of a letdown could be that it glorifies violence like it's a fun thing, which Arcane doesn't do. The series' tone is very different from the game material, and knowing Jinx's past makes these videos strange (at least for me it did).

@@jakeblah6304 I mean for a game cinematic it's cool just doesn't match Arcane's tone is my point, which was strange for me not knowing anything about the game. Not against the video itself.

0:51 Oh boy. lol I think seeing Powder in episode 6 hit me even harder than episode 3. I think what's even worse about the ending of episode 3 is that they were just about to escape anyway, until Powder dropped the bomb. Vandor just got his last shackle opened and Claggor made it through the wall, while Vi had the door closed off for now.

I had the same guess as you did here about the Silco/Vander past... that they were likely brothers in the cause until Silco went *way too far*. Vi and Vander are both creatures of violence but with a deep conscience. Silco probably felt they were perfectly aligned and so would indeed feel betrayed and not understand how Vander could value anything above their goals.

Loving the reactions so far, always nice to see a new perspective on what is going on! And if you like callbacks this series is chocked full of em. They have characters that *feel* real. They focus on things like trauma and mental health, on toxicity. They've given us so far 3 extremely strong images of feminine empowerment and strength. A villain with depth and a understandable perspective even if we don't agree with his methods. It's just a good damn show. Really looking forward to your reactions moving forward!

What is your definition of being evil or being a bad guy?
@Sil3ntAdvent
@Sil3ntAdvent 2 жыл бұрын
@@n0bleonline222 Evil would simply be acting with the full knowledge or intent to do harm or otherwise act in a manner that is apathetic to the fact that it may bring harm or be fatal to those involved. While it is a reductive definition, it's one that I feel works for a variety of situations. That being said, none of that is relevant to my comment, as I never claimed anyone was evil. However, Silco does satisfy the role of an antagonist or villain to the story's protagonists, both on the side of Piltover and Zaun. Silco is doing what he is doing for the sake of Zaun, so while his intentions are well placed his methods are not.

I love the moment you realized that it was Vi in the cell. Great moment. I also think you're the first reactor who feels the same about Silco, how he is motivated by the things which have made him who he is, as I do. You are a really dynamic reactor, a thoughtful, observant, invested person who is mesmerizing to watch. Well, off to watch episode 5!

So, this isn't a spoiler for the show necessarily so I'll just mention some stuff that you can look up if you want. In the game while the Arcane show was going, you could look at Caitlyn's investigation notes, Jaycee's research notes, Vi's prisoner records of incidents that she was involved in and since no one knew her name they called her Pink cause of her hair. And finally, Jinx's diary and what was in it.

The pink haired girl at the beginning had "young" Vi's face when the mask dropped. We saw what Jinx/Powder saw at that moment. Every following shots are with the girl's real face. They added a very big scar in the middle of her face so people would realize... But I think they underestimated the surprise factor's effect on the viewer's brain. I think they should have added a bit more emphasis. I personally got it only because my first reaction was wondering why she didn't change at all after all those years which brought my attention on the face afterward. One of the very rare mistake I can point at in this show.

If you want to watch, It will be healthier for you if you watch this after you finish the series. !! You can also react to League of Legends cinematics. They have very popular videos of 3 or 4 minutes with the same quality as the series or even better, they continue to be released at the beginning of every year. Since 2013, they have been releasing a new one every year at the beginning of the season. To add more excitement to the game. And some follow a certain story The Jinx character was the first music/cinematic clip they released for the league of legends game. Every time a character comes to the game, they make something similar to this clip. (Get Jinx Music video) I personally would like you to react, but I strongly recommend that you watch them after you finish the series. I think that if you open any of them, it may spoil some things.
