Jinx and Silco's relationship is strictly father-daughter. Jinx just has abandonment issues and attachment issues so she's a lot more clingy with Silco. Silco even has stuff that she's made him on his desk, like in this episode you could see a mug that she decorated (and the roman numerals were 6, for the number of letters in her full name, Violet, and the numerals themselves also spell out Vi)

By the way, Heimerdinger's little pet is called a "Poro", if you really want to find merch of it. And the music playing at 23:03 was the theme of Jinx's release in the game. 18:02 this is weird because it is supposed to make you feel uneasy but it also needs to set up that it's a father daughter relationship with little boundaries. Powder/Jinx is the only person (probably other than Vander) that was able to break through into Silco and so he is unsure how to "parent" by not setting up boundaries because he is afraid he might push her away for make her leave. Jinx on the otherhand suffers from terrible abandonment and attachment issues so, just like Vi, she holds onto Silco as much as possible and because of her trauma at a young age (and the "parenting" of Silco) she hasn't emotionally matured past the age of 9-ish (when the events of ep 3 took place) and so she does things that matured adults would perceive as creepy.

The thing about jinx laying next to her DAD, is a lot of people fairly think it was sexual. But it's just how jinx moves naturally. If there was a romantic interest between them, silco would've moved in a romantic way to touch her. He didn't. Jinx is just a very close, very physical person

I feel Powder restyling herself as "Jinx" is really fitting in terms of her accepting or rejecting responsibility over the deaths of Mylo, Claggor and Vander. On the one hand, it seems evident that she blames herself and sees herself as the cause for their deaths. On the flip side, by seeing it as a result of her being a "jinx", it also at the same time externalises the cause rather than accept any *_personal_* accountability in terms of her actions. Meaning, the way she sees it, it's her fault that they died but not because of anything that she did or chose to do but simply because of who she is.... which also explains her negative self-image and esteem issues. Not sure if that makes sense?

Jinx and Silco aren't in a relationship although the way they portray it is definitely uncomfortable. Jinx is traumatized and extremely mentally unstable so she still has the mindset of a kid kind of, and Silco is her father figure so even tho it is definitely creepy, its not because they're intimate(?) if that's the right word. Also fun fact, in the game, Jinx has an interaction with another character named Fiddlesticks, who is a demon that knows everyone's biggest fears or something like that. He says to Jinx in a creepy, eerie voice "Jinx, all your fault. All your fault." referring to killing Mylo and Claggor. Love the reactions :)

Terrible that she did that and killed people but she made Silco happy by stealing the gemstone and that's all kids want, to be praised by the people they look up to/care about. Jinx and Silco are not together like that. She is just very close to him as a dependency object, but it's nothing sexual. Out of all the characters in this show, I think Jinx is the only one who isn't really interested in other people. I don't think she ever had the chance to learn to want it because she is stuck being a traumatized child. The second thing I want to say is I want you to think really hard about the conflict of the show. The writers did an insanely good job at crafting this world and the interactions that occur within. By the time you reach the last episode, every important character will be forced with a choice, and they all are forced to make it. You will be confused and wanting more, but I promise it is very intentional and definitely not a cliffhanger. The point of this show, or at least this season, is not the result of what is being done, but the choice that is made to do the act in and of itself. (If that makes sense?) I think every character is justified, from their prospective. Even the villains, and not just because of what bad stuff has happened in their past's. It's in the way they move, the cadence of their voice, the tone they take to emphasize their point. Ever individual in this show has a valid reason for giving a shit, and they all do it in believable, human ways. Because at the end of the day, that's all any of us are. Human. Anyway, I'm glad you choose this show. Every episode is better than the last, which is really impressive because the first episode was pretty fucking good. Invincible has more gore and fucked up moments but is also more laid back than this show. You'll understand once you get there.

Everyone always blames baby Powder for what happened in Ep3 which is legit, but I think the 3 who died were destined to die. One thing I wanted to say, you guys think mentioned last time that powder isn't taking any accountability, but I think she was, because she knew what she did, she was just saying that I only came here to help/be like you. If you remember, Vi did the exact same things Powder was doing lol, like she turned herself in, which got them into this mess, she went to piltover against Vander's words, which made the guards chase them. I genuinely think this is Vi's fault more than powder. Since powder is just doing what Vi is (and failing horribly.) Also great reaction as usual lol!
@jimjimcherie
@jimjimcherie 2 жыл бұрын
I disagree completely. Vi turning herself in was not what got them into this mess, Silco's plan was gonna happen either way, Silco didn't know Vander would turn himself in, he had been tailing him and used the opportunity. What got them into the mess is, well, actually Vander. Vander did put a lot of responsibility on Vi's shoulders which led her to act as she did, thinking she was prepared for anything, and then the explosion on ep 1 happened. Vi at being supporting all the time lead Powder to believe her actions had no consequences, as whenever something went wrong Vi just told her it was fine, leading to no accountability only regret and tears spilt over spilt milk. It's a chain reaction.

Yeah, every bad action Powder did was following a "bad" decision by Vi. Going to topside to steal from them, bringing Powder along, leaving her behind without telling her why to turn herself in, then trying to do it again to save Vander. All the while Powder has the motivational words of Vi telling her that she is strong, and that her bombs will eventually work. She feels helpless, useless, and she has clear abandonment issues (not surprising considering the beginning to ep 1). And I think Vi knows that, and will have to live with that. After all, in the words of Vander: "whatever happens, it's on you"

I don’t think they were saying to fight him and his gang, but she clearly wasn’t just acting in order to survive in that scene. She was willing to completely write off her sister after being alone for a minute. Vi was upset that the rest of their family just died as a result of her sister’s actions, so of course she needed some space. And after a minute Powder was ready to completely disown her sister and join with the guy who actually intended to kill her family. I don’t think most 10 year olds would be so quick to latch on to that person. And yes, I know she already had abandonment and attachment issues by that point, but that doesn’t completely absolve her of responsibility for the choices she made. What I find really odd about society is that people ALWAYS look at Jinx and Silco's relationship as sexual initially. I think that says more about society than anything. Jinx is a teenager at this point. Silco speaks to her like a stern father, and the way she sees things that aren't there, her using touch to confirm he's real (not to mention her well documented extreme trauma over abandonment) makes sense in how she interacts with things. But as a father, this is similar to how a toddler daughter climbs and clings onto me. Not out of it being sexual in anyway, but fit comfort and attention. But that's just how I see it.

So while I appreciate the revulsion in general of society, I also took Jinx's fractured mind into account, and the complete lack of sexual response from Silco. That tells me that, to him, she's just the same little girl that clings to him, afraid of being abandoned. And the trust level to be able to use the canister on eye toxin filled eye... that's a real relationship.

I get that, but I had the same reaction the first time I saw that scene, because while we come to learn that her mentality is still very childlike in many ways, what that scene looks like at first glance is not a toddler seeking affection from her father, but a teenage girl getting very physical with an old man who raised her since she was a preteen. Same with the baptizing scene, right before she goes under and he gets really close to her face. Again, by the last few episodes I realized they just had an unhealthy father/daughter relationship, but it takes time for that dynamic to unfold.

Really enjoying your Arcane Reactions. Thanks. Many other Arcane Reactors are attributing Jinx is a sinister teen anarchist and the sole architect of her villainous turn of fate. I wish you guys to consider this as you continue in the series: 1st, I've pointed out to other Arcane Reactors who condemn Powder the sole culprit for the destiny transforming, series arc defining calamity of episode 3, for her, very credible, panic attack induced disregard of her elder caretaker sister Vi's enjoining her "staying away".... ....BUT it's Vi who's actually culprit: In the penultimate concluding scene in ep. 1 of the girls on the alleyway rooftop overlooking the Piltover dusky skyline, Powder showed Vi that she still possessed the arcane crystals she pilfered in their heist of Jayce's apartment and dutifully posed to Vi should they apprise Vander -- AND Vi, in what is THE ACTUAL decisive fateful act of her yet again disregarding the authority and canny counsel of her elder caretaker Vander, blithely responded "No, let's keep this our little secret." So, Vi is the architect of Jinx's making. 2nd, Jinx's vexing duality is common with other Reactors, but I would just like to point out her seemingly dastardly attacks, though wanton and maniacal, are not that dastardly and perhaps virtuous. To paraphrase Master Obi Wan Kenobi: It's about a certain point of view: It can be reasonably argued that Jinx, as her definitively more ruthless - if you're not for us you're against us, by any means necessary - dad Silco, is a Freedom fighter. Her attacks, even though influenced by her psychotic spite and PTSD, is in service of either overcoming their Piltover "oppressors" or fellow undercitizens who are either "complacent/submissive" or are active opposers to their admittedly exploitive and terroristic deadly methods as their nemeses the Firelights seemingly represent. Just something to mull as you make up your own minds and determinations as the story progresses. And lastly, Marcus's "antagonism/villainy" seems consequent of his ambition and undercity bigotry, and his attempt to exploit the undercity in service of that resulted the reversal of his exploitation into his corrupting treacherous deal with the devil of Silco. Again, thanks, ladies.

I'm correct that Powder wasn't the SOLE culprit: Powder's culpability involves her utilizing the arcane crystals to empower her monkey bomb, ensuing the tragic fatal catastrophe; but Powder wouldn't have had the crystals if not for Vi's pivotal culpability of not HEEDING Powder to apprise Vander that she had them, because Vander indubitably would have taken possession.

The pink haired Firelight girl confused me as well when I saw her. I thought she was Vi for a moment. However she is about the same age as Vi was when we last saw her, while Powder/Jinx and Caitlyn have visibly aged. Sevika seems a little older as well, but I didn't get too good of a look at her before the time skip. Vi likely hasn't aged in Jinx's mind. She wouldn't know what she looks like. I suppose it's been long enough that she would overlook the small differences between Vi and that girl. This encounter likely didn't help Jinx's mental state.

1. Silco and Powder/Jinx have a father/daughter relationship like Powder, Mylo, Claggor and Vi had with Vander, it`s just they`re both severely mentally ill so they never developed normal healthy boundaries and have deep-seated insecure attachment, abandonment and codependency issues because Vander and Vi "abandoned" and "betrayed" them when they were younger. 2. Silco`s not really "addicted" to the Shimmer, at least not to the same extent as many other, poorer Zaunites he exploits with the stuff like Huck and Deckard are, he mainly uses it to disinfect his damaged, polluted eye and Jinx is the only other person he trusts to do that for him because he sees her as a daughter and relates to her because Vi "left" and "betrayed" her like Vander did to him.

All I'll say is that Powder was literally 10 or 11. What 11 year old understand accountability or has the mental maturity to accept their fault? Children are frustrating because of it, but its not their fault. They are not able to understand and comprehend such things. They can feel guilty but are unable to process them. So it feels a bit unfair to hold Powder to a higher standard when not only she is just a child, but also suffers from mental issues as well. She has sever abandonment issues. You can see how she reacts when Vi tells her to stay, and she acts all crazy. Not saying you guys are wrong for feeling what you do about Powder. Its totally valid and its your opinion. Nothing I say will make it any less valid. Just saying that Powder is just a kid who doesn't understand these concepts of accountability and guilt. Even adults... when faced with serious guilt for their own actions are unable to take accountability, because its always easier to blame someone/something else than to take responsibility.

Well, no, she was groomed. Just Predatory sexual grooming is only one kind of grooming. Silco groomed Powder to be a reflection of himself. Angry, violent, paranoid, callous toward the suffering of others. He shaped her into a weapon and uses her to fulfill his needs. All while apparently blind to the harm thats done to her psyche. The unsettling, uncomfortable vibe of a couple of their crucial scenes was definitely a deliberate artistic choice to convey the fundamental unhealthy wrongness of their relationship. So while no it’s not sexual.. The audience is still meant to be grossed out by them despite the surface level pretty words he says to her. She is ultimately still his victim.

@@troikas3353 at what point does one stop becoming a victim tho? The fact tht Jinx is so uncomfortably comfortable with Silco shows tht she definitely chooses to be in the position shes in too. If Silco's grooming then Vi's reinforcement of Powder's mistakes when they were little is also considered grooming right?
@troikas3353
@troikas3353 2 жыл бұрын
@@Buckheimer She's a mentally ill child, by act 2 a severely ill child, and he's a grown adult. The power dynamic will always skew towards him and she will never not be his victim. It doesn't fully absolve her of her culpability for her choices as she is guilty of the harm she's caused. It's just she's a victim that has become a victimizer. Which is honestly pretty common. Many victim's of abuse that do not get help will end up spreading that pain to others. I'd argue that's what happened to Silco himself; He was a victim of their cities systemic failures, and a victim of Vander (for whatever might have motivated that attack) and he never properly dealt with those trauma's. The wounds those experiences left on him festered and drove him to become the violent, vindictive and cruel man he became which in turn fed those same terrible things in Powder. The cycle perpetuates itself. And no Vi did not. From what we saw Vi had one moment in her life where she criticized Powder. It was the worst possible moment and a personal failure that will no doubt haunt her for life but it was still one moment. They would also hardly be the first young siblings to say something horrible in anger to each other once. Aside from that one tragic night, Vi's the only person in t his story we ever see telling Powder that she, on her own without needing to change herself in any way, is strong and valuable. All the other voices in Powder's ear, including Silco, tell her that the person she is is not good enough.That she needs to be someone else to be valuable. Silco takes it so far even her actual name isn't good enough. For all the show gives us Vi is an exemplary big sister that goes above and beyond what anyone could expect a 14ish year old to do. But she was also a barely tween aged untreated trauma victim herself, someone who had suffered every loss Powder had suffered on top of having to become effectively a borderline homeless surrogate mother to a ten year old with mental health issues. She made mistakes but nothing she did remotely compares to a grown adult intentionally giving a mentally ill preteen a gun and having her kill for him.

Eh... Powder taking not taking "accountability" sure, that is frustrating, but bad stuff happens a lot in real life. How many of us have the motivation and circumstance to learn how to properly identify causes? Like take our own responsibility and accountability in understanding issues around why and how crime happens, poverty cycles, cycles of abuse, and risk management? For example... Vander, VI, Powder, Mylo and some of our other favourites, they are an underclass of citizens. This underclass is treated worse in many many ways. Poverty has a huge negative influence and affect on the mental, emotional, and physical health of people. It limits their opportunities, life spans, so so much, so as a general starting point? Why is a young girl allowed to play with explosives to use as a form of self defence? Why is a teenage girl so good at fighting? Why is a teen a master locksmith at that age? Its kind of just the unfortunate reality. Vander has a lot to deal with keeping his kids safe, and keeping the peace between those around him, and the rich people. So I am not going to say he should have been doing a better job at raising children to be more safe, because given the situation, he is exceeding better than a lot of people with better resources would be. However if you heard about a father who just let his 10 year old play with explosives? Should he be held accountable? Depends really. What about a society that has developed an Undercity/lower class of citizens in the first place? I mean not to get too serious, but flip the switch and this is a real issue in reality as far as poverty, marginalised communities and minorities. People frequently also overestimate how much will and agency people have to be good or evil, especially those that 1. Haven't learned about relevant subjects. 2. Live relatively comfy lives, and like the idea that they are good because they personally achieved it. 3. People who come from harsher backgrounds, who manage to succeed and fall guilty to various types of survivorship bias. So its kind of messed up, on a few levels. Like we have this one eyed villainous guy, running around shooting people with addictive drugs that turns them into super monsters, that main and kill people... and they kidnap these kids father? Like that just by itself is pretty crazy and terrifying right? Except we are watching a fictional show, so we are kind of use to "good guys and bad guys" and its fantasy feeling genre... but also, you have an afraid, insecure, mentally anxious 10 year old, who feels like a jinx, a curse, probably has ADHD, and PTSD, who is very clearly struggling, has had to run for her life several times at this point... and her old siblings have to go save their father figure. Which is also a whole lot of unreasonable pressure on all those kids as well. They can't call law enforcement to rescue their father, they have to do it themselves. Thats terrifying. Except a lot of us don't really dwell on that... unfair stuff happens a lot in a lot of fiction right? On the topic of accountability though? Isn't that worth addressing? When should kids ever be put in a situation to save their father from death against adults? Arcane for many takes a depressing turn last episode though, for many people, because things get kinda of real. Mylo, Claggor and Vander die, and its Powders "fault". It seems like they would have escaped, but Powders actions instead lead to their deaths? Except she and most of them, really shouldn't have been put in that position either. Its horrifically bad luck and bad timing. So if we ignore all that though, and think that Powder should have the emotional stability and maturity of an adult who lived a normal healthy live, with minimal stress and anxiety, and frequent exposure to life or death situations, to take the sort of accountability appropriate... but what of the frustration when you take it all into account? Alternatively, Vi straight up smacked Powder. Vi is a beast, we know what she can do with her fists and arms, and what she did to those guys. She did that to her baby sister, and did devastating emotional damage to her. This in spite of Vanders attempts to get her to realise the follies of using fists and violence to accomplish your goals. Where was her accountability? Alternatively, she is just a teen who shouldn't have been put in that situation. We can sympathise with Vi because she literally just lost two of her siblings and father, and it in part, due to her sister, which is.. I mean most real adults can't really handle such complicated and intense emotions, even years after such scenarios, and with therapy. Heat of the moment? Physical abuse, especially when from an older stronger figure towards a younger weaker, smaller figure is... not ideal, but this particular situation and context? Its relatively understandable. At least to many of us, who will empathise/sympathise with Vi in that moment. Though many of us, can also sympathise/empathise with Powder as well. On the flip side, and a lot of people miss this, despite the show literally going back and forth between both scenes and storylines, but disobeyed orders, and took a risk, and it paid off and he became the hero of the city. Imagine if Powder actually saved her family, became a hero of the undercity, and Jayce accidentally killed 1000 people in a city block? How would the conversation around accountability go then? Rich people often fail upwards, and poor people with the best intentions can still end up making devastating mistakes. This is sadly true in reality and why i think Arcane has resonated with a lot of people. That being said I get it too, because Arcane kind of did that on purpose. Episode 3 got really dark, really serious, really emotional. really intense all off a sudden, sort of from a cutsey well animated fantasy story in an alt reality with magic and cute kids, into a "fuck you and your emotions" show, and for many it was jarring, and a lot of that emotion and anguish has to go somewhere. I just hope in reflection we can of remember to be empathetic too. Question ourselves and who actually needs to be accountable. Like why are so many reactors sceptical of Viktor, and Jaybe is just somehow so so good and pure? Show sort of utilises and subverts tropes. I don't know, I kind of find it funny/bit heartbreaking.

Shes a child and starts breaking down over only trying to help as soon as she notices Claggor's bloodied and broken gogles. She does see some consequences of her actions and is reacting to it with tears and shock like any young child whould. Her attention is then forcefully shifted to Vi and her anger towards her. The emotional baggage of losing people and seeing her sister walk out on her is too overwhelming to process the series of events rationally. Its not realistic to expect the child powder to handle admitting that she got people killed with everything including abandonment issues all at once. Shes just a lonely child desperate for anyone to accept her, who likely had night terrors and several breakdowns out of guilt while in Silco's care.

Oh yeah, I never thought really Jinx and Silco were a "couple". He's a bad dude, but he's not creepy like that for one. For two, Jinx doesn't seem that sexual with him, regardless of her sitting on his lap, and he doesn't seem sexual towards her at all in any episode. He just listens, gives advice, talks to her, and cares for her like Vander did before him. Also Powder was 10......do you think she even knows what the word "accountability" means? Like can she spell it? >.> just saying The thing I love about Jayce's story is, he's known as "the Golden Boy" pretty much to all the high up people and even lower class people, but that's not him. He started out no one wanting to believe in him, and someone who was an engineer pretty much, not some wealthy political figure who can't do no wrong. No one wanted to trust him of course, and no one believed in him. Just interesting how things turn out

Asking for accountability from a mentally ill & heavily codependent 10 year old kid that just lost all of her family is honestly a really weird take. And she's not schizophrenic, she has a severe psychosis.
