1. Funny you should say that it’s similar to spider-verse because Hailey Steinfield, who voices Gwen also voices Vi in this show. 2. You shouldn’t worry about copyright when it comes to Riot. Apart from the Imagine Dragons song, all the music is owned by Riot and they don’t strike videos for the inclusion of their music.

Fun Fact: Riot Games and Fortiche, the animation studio who made "Arcane", first collaborated on the "Get Jinx" music video in 2013, the first animatics for "Arcane" were made 2 years later but they were delayed twice, first because of higher-ups in corporate and the creative team butting heads over whether a feature-length animated series was even possible with the limited resources of a game studio and a fledgling French animation company and then again because of COVID.

It looks like no one answered your initial question about the instrument playing the piece at the beginning. The guy playing, Ray Chen, is a top tier violinist but he was playing a viola there.

the instrument that hit you in the very beginning is a violin. They have an incredible violinist (Ray Chen) in their music department - knowing you already watched the 5th episode, I can tell you that they animated him into the show (like a lot of others) as a tribute to him. He is the violin performer on the stage in the theatre. They guy which is kicked out of the brothel totally drunk is the animation studio CEO (Fortiche) by the way XD. He makes a small appearance in ep 4 as well. Another fun detail since you already watched ep.5 : when they climb the roofs you see at some point a plate of cupcakes that Claggor snatched one from. This a reference to Caitlyn and also a hint that they are near her house/workshop.

Actually, it's a viola! I watched a reaction that Ray Chen did to the music of arcane. Ray Chen wasn't getting the correct vibe with the violin, so he used the viola. I didn't even know he could play viola lmao but apparently he can. It's just for this one scene, and you can tell the difference in timbre.

The song sung by the little girl in the opening explains the whole relationship between Piltover and the Undercity. The city leaders decided to carve a canal right through the city to make money (because ships could avoid a trip around a continent). During the dig, an accident happened that flooded the Undercity and released a lot of pollution in the Undercity. Piltover profited massively from the canal, and never once thought to use any of that wealth to fix the flooding and pollution in Undercity. What you saw in the opening sequence was a failed rebellion by the Undercity.

The animation studio Fortiche was relatively new. Prior to this, they only did a few ads and music videos, mostly for Riot games. This was their first major animation project that was more than a few minutes long.

Riot sucks, pretty much everything shitty about "League of Legends" and all of Riot`s other games is `cause of Riot and the shitty-ass,toxic community they cultivate as a company and everything good they put out like "Get Jinxed", "Arcane" and "Annie:Origins" is because of Fortiche!

As great as they are, Episode 1 & 2 are just winching the roller coaster to the top of the track before they let it run. It's a wild ride. Cheers! Re production value: they put 6 years into 9 40-minute episodes. S2 comes out end of next year.

Haha, the dual reaction to Powder throwing the bag into the river was amazing!! XD She is my favourite character, so I make excuses for her a lot. If she hadn't, the guy would have just taken it off her (and probably hurt her doing so). Sadly, the river is VERY dirty, so definitely wouldn't be a good idea trying to recover it. Vi is great here, as she sees it as her fault, and would never snap at Powder over something like this. She is a great older sister! This was an awesome reaction, guys!! Can't wait for the next ep!! :) There is a fair argument to say that the 3 top main characters are female, but you have a lot of great characters yet to meet! :)

Other than being toxic, the water there was deep and there are large sea creatures in it (see the monster's outside of the window in the villain's lair). Once it hit the water it was gone without specialized equipment. No way some undercity kids are going to be able to recover it.

Finally! Good reactions. I love Arcane and it looks like you two are going to be blown away. I have seen this show more than 10 times now, so now I watch reactors, that is to trick my mind into believing I am watching it with fresh new eyes through yours. This show is a masterpiece, in my opinion this is the best series ever period, not just animated, It is up there with Breaking Bad. Advise... since you are going in blind, stay that way if possible don't look anything up and be very careful of the comments, there are going to be some fans that unintentionally slip by some info, because they love the show too and just can't help sharing and talking about it. Once you are done, watch it again, you will notice a lot more stuff on the second watch, and the check out "Bridging the Rift'' (The making of Arcane) You will get a whole new found appreciation for the show and its creators, unlike a lot of other shows is a passion project, and it show. I will be waiting for your next upload. If you think the show is great, each episode only gets better and the quality stays top notch from start to finish, happy watching. Spoiler: (Not so spoiler) Season 2 is coming out October 2024

The show is based on the video game lore of League of Legends, correct. In League of Legends there are 165 playable characters (called Champions) ... Considering you know nothing about the game, it would be interesting if you can figure out which characters in the show are actually Champions in the game and which characters are not ^^ For some it might be easier to guess than for others xD

14:37 fun fact: the pant-less man getting thrown of the whore house is modeled after one of Fortiche studio director (Arnauld Delord, Fortiche being the French studio who animated this show). The three Fortiche directors appear later together in another episode, on the rear of a flying vessel...

Before you watch episode 7 (so probably after you watch episode 6), you should totally watch the music video to Imagine Dragons - Enemy. It's animated in the same style as Arcane, and is basically 'deleted scenes' for the show. It was actually released before the show aired, so its not considered spoilers or anything. It's not critical to do so or anything, but it can provide some context for some stuff later in the show.

League actually has specific characters that you play as. About 10 or so of them are in Arcane, others were made for the show, but it would be a spoiler to tell you who's who.

the imagine dragons song is the only one NOT made for the show, it was made years before, the rest of the music is owned by the studio, so if you don't want to get copyright claimed only play small parts of the start, but everything else is fine.

The pink haired young lady is named Violet, Vi for short not Vee. Claggor is the big boy; Mylo is the smart-mouth boy with the thick eyebrows and you know Powder is the blue haired girl. Vander is the dad, Benzo is his friend. The young man they nicknamed L’il Man is Ekko. The lead enforcer, her name is Grayson while the scientist is Singed and his benefactor is Silco.

Welcome to the lanes. I've been a fan of the LOL cinematics and knew of some of the characters but what really impressed me was all the lore that Riot put into the character and wold for a battle arena game. I'm happy they just decided to do their own thing with this and not really tie it to the game. It truly stands apart. You guys get a sub from me for this.

I absolutely love when people entirely new to Arcane/League watch episode 1 and talk about how "this art style and story is so good!" ....Episode 1 is so forgettable compared to what's to come and if Episode 1 hooks them then you know it's about to be a fun ride.
