I agree the only issue (which isn't a big one to me) I think here is the extra shots on putt and or needing to add a 2nd shot from the same location (2 bunker shots, etc.). It's so easy to edit on the phone after round which is great. Battery drain on older watches is real but with a newer watch is not an issue. Huge fan of Arccos, just wish the smoke grey sensors were available when I purchased mine! Nice review

You sold me on this as an Apple Watch Ultra user. Just ordered the sensors and am ready for journey. I tried golf pad tags but didn’t enjoy tagging each club each time. I don’t mind looking and checking along the way but couldn’t stand to scan a tag every swing. Looking forward to to the battery life of Apple Watch Ultra with the data that Arccos offers. Thanks for the review.

My Apple Watch Series 7 died on hole 11 (teed off at 3pm). Just not enough battery life for what Arccos needed it. Might last 18 holes if I charge my watch to 100% before I tee off. I also have the watch configured to have the crown pointing in not out. Really helps eliminate inadvertent crown touches.

I paired with my Apple Watch (series 9) and loved it. My watch did continuously default back to the watch face and I had to keep re-engaging the app to continue the hole. Any suggestions on how to keep it up for the whole round?

You nailed it on the cons. I think it’s inevitable that shots will occasionally be missed so I’m fine editing on the phone. It’s a bit hard when you have to add a shot close to another shot (didn’t get out of the bunker or a chip rolls back off the green). Hazard distances and green maps will take the rangefinder to the next level.

Great review! I canceled my Arccos, Apple Watch missed way too many shots, too distracting. My series 7 Apple Watch battery was dead too fast. My scores have dropped since I stopped using the technology. I’m sticking with my rangefinder and playing the course… not my iPhone and Apple Watch. If I find a refurb Apple Watch Ultra, and I can justify the additional wireless data costs, I will give Arccos. Probably not going to happen.

I used Arccos and Apple Watch (series 4) for about a year, and gave up in disgust. The crown would constantly rub against my glove and switch holes, my link device would crap out, the watch would lose connectivity, watch battery would die before round was completed, and the entire mess of using the iPhone to start the round would slow things down and take focus away from the game. I had already been leaning towards upgrading to the Apple Watch Ultra for the increased battery life and other improvements. However, watching your video above helped me decide to pull the trigger and upgrade. So I got my new Apple Watch Ultra & put the Arccos sensors back on my clubs and went out to give it a spin. Holy cow! I am now a complete re-convert. It was the solution I've been waiting for - ability to just play golf and not have to screw around with complicated setups and being tethered to an iPhone. No shots missed, tagging pin location was a breeze, recessed crown is not impacted by golf glove, no battery issues at all. What a game changer (pun intended)

Glad it works for you, but found it misses lots of shots and end up deleting about half the holes, which has resulted in unrealistic handicap. According to Across, my longest drive is over 800 yrds. Tried phone, caddy and iWatch, but still misses shots. On a positive note, it is getting very slowly better.

@PersadPower10
@PersadPower10 Жыл бұрын
Arccos is programmed so that any number of swings taken within a 5 yard radius it just counts as one shot. So if you take 4 practice swings, and then walk up to your ball which is only a couple feet away and take your real swing, arccos would count all of that as only 1 shot. Two caveats to this: 1) make sure you are taking practice swings within 5 yards of your ball. Don't take practice swings on the other side of the course while waiting for a partner to hit or something like that. 2) if you hit a shot and the ball does not travel 5 yards (like trying and failing to get out of a bunker, or topping a wedge), you'll have to hit a second shot and the sensors might not pick those up as two different shots. You will have to edit that after the round. (Or perhaps during the round if you so desire).

Maybe I’m not understanding, but for the pin location function, you either walk up to the green and set the pin location, then go back and hit your approach shot(s)? Or do you set the pin location once your ball is near the green and it gives you retroactive info on that hole? I’m not getting it haha

Any chance Arccos will add better features to the Samsung Wear OS platform? Currently it's only useable in the rangefinder mode and it's very barebones . You get distances and can add in strokes but once you finish a hole it fast forwards to the next hole you're on and you can't go back on the watch and edit any strokes. All has to be done on the app. Is this the same for the Apple Watch?

Question about using the app on the watch vs the phone itself; On a previous video, you mention that since arccos is using the microphone from the phone as it is connected to Bluetooth, that a Bluetooth speaker can’t be used to jam out to some tunes while on the course; does this still apply after the latest updates to the app? Or am I now able to jam out with my speaker while the arccos is running on the watch?

Ought to note that a number of OEM’s are currently offering free Arccos sensors and several months free subscription for people who have bought their equipment. I got mine this week through Srixon/Cleveland because I bought Srixon irons and Cleveland wedges back in 2019. I think Calloway/Odyssey has a deal and Ping has them pre-installed on their clubs.

HI! Good video, I'm giving Arccos a try. Picking up an Apple Watch today, and I'm getting a "free" set ($9.99 shipping, plus of course a $150/yr sub after the 45 day trial) of sensors from the TaylorMade partnership. I'm a new player who only started playing in August 2022. My index is 25, and dropping. From the start, I bought the Shot Scope V3 and loved it, but after only 7 months the battery life on the V3 was already dead at the end of a 4-hour round. Then, I got the notice about the new V5, so I impulsively bought one. WOW what a huge disappointment. The V5 sucks so bad, if you don't agree with me, just wait and use yours a little more, then you'll agree. The V5 reboots in the middle of rounds for no reason, it also glitches out and stops reading the sensors in the middle of rounds, the touch screen, which Shot Scope originally criticized touch screens in the V3 marketing, as being cumbersome while golfing, is exactly that cumbersome and fidgety and overall just lousy. So, I'm excited to try the most premium of all the options, Accos and an Apple Watch. I do hope Accos makes more improvements soon, as not having distances to hazards on the watch just might be a deal breaker on me signing up for the annual sub.

Great video, really appreciate it. Question regarding practice swings. Does the system auto-track a shot if you take a couple practice swings before you actually take a shot? I have experienced this with the Golfshot app. Whenever I take practice swings, my Apple Watch recognizes the practice swing as a real swing and I have to cancel the shot tracking. Curious about any thoughts or experiences you have with this? Thank you so much.
@breakingeighty
@breakingeighty Жыл бұрын
Isn't an issue! It basically has auto mulligans, so it will only register one shot from a specific location. This works great, and the only time it might become an issue is if you totally chunk a shot, or if you leave a shot in a bunker. So if you're hitting again from nearly the same location, you might need to re-add the shot. But for practice swings, you shouldn't have any issues.

I wanted to try the link but my AWU does alot of good. Its essentailly a simplier version of the app. It will use the GPS of the watch to record your shots and you can view the yardages with what is the non adjusted distance and the adjusted distances (wind and elevation). You can also start the round with the watch and see what clubs you used on the hole. You can also go to the pin location and set the pin and get the distance when you are on or around the green. I use it alot and honestly I took a month off to try other apps and I felt lost with the others, either over complicated or just wasnt the same.

Garmin watch doesn't require the sensors. The watch detects swings and marks distance using watch impact sensors and gps automatically after you hit a ball. The only negative is short shots (chipping and putting). These clubs do require sensors to get putting and approach shots. Also, my Garmin watch can go four rounds without needing charging. So things to consider as well.

So the app tracks all this data per round and you can also use it to average out and give you what your data is. Putting goes from 0-2 ft and goes up 3-5ft and 6 -9 ft, 10-14 .15-24 , 25 to 39 and anything over... it gives strokes gained, make % and 3putt %. the driving, approach (50-100 yd, 100-150, 150-200,200+) and short game(50 yds to 25, 25 to 0 also takes account for sand shots) is the same with other stats that every player might want. I love it, i like to look at the data and compare it. Very amazing app that I will probably use forever.. I dont use a range finder at all once I learned how to use the app.

How does it know the difference between a practice wing and a actual swing?
@breakingeighty
@breakingeighty Ай бұрын
A variety of factors including the microphone, the sensors, and proximity. It will auto-mulligan if you hit a shot from the exact same spot. So if you take 5 practice swings and then one real shot, even if it thought one of the practice swings was a real shot, it will only register one shot from that location. This works great. The only time it can be an issue is if you flub a chip or leave a ball in a bunker. In this case you occasionally might need to manually add the second shot.

I also almost never get the option to set the pin location on my Apple Watch. This doesn't bother me that much, as a I have already created a putting routine around setting the location manually on my phone. @@breakingeighty Yeah I have using my phone during golf, other then for music lol Ive prob used/tried every golf app on the market and Tag Huer is the best because its the only one that you can actually see the whole hole and drag a point around to get distance to anything you want (its pretty cool). Does have a shot tracking thing but that part kinda sucks.

Arccos marketing video. My S62 combined withe the Garmin App in the background, does this for years now. No Apple watch no arccos hardware. Very accurate and much less of a hassle.

The S62 is a fantastic watch. But without the CT10 sensors the tracking isn't as accurate. But everyone has different preferences for sure. For just a straight GPS Golf Watch, I'm not sure the S62 can be beat. But for most accurate stat tracking (especially for apple watch users) Arccos is fantastic.

can you leave your phone in your bag if youre wearing the watch for arccos?
@breakingeighty
@breakingeighty 20 күн бұрын
Yes. If you're using a watch and have watch shot tracking turned on, you don't need your phone at all. This just eats a lot more battery life. If you're using the phone for shot tracking, and the watch just for marking pins and gps data, then you'll still need your phone on you.

@@breakingeighty can you use a Link Pro for Shot tracking and Watch for GPS, and an actual rangefinder for yardages for the best battery life experience?
@breakingeighty
@breakingeighty 20 күн бұрын
@@Kizinky You can use the Link Pro for shot tracking, and obviously a rangefinder regardless. Doing that should help battery life with the watch for sure. But if it's an older Apple Watch (prob series 6 or 7 or earlier), even without shot tracking it may still have a big impact on battery.

Garmin shouldn’t even be in the shot tracking conversation because their stats suck. They have a in game product that’s it (and a pretty good one)

I’ve played 7 rounds with them and it’s not been 100% in each round. Missed shots, wrong clubs, think I hit my driver 350yds ish when I hit driver and then wedge. I did have my phone in my pocket as such and even tried the watch and nothing was 100%. I’m not going to continue using it after my 45 days are up. Wasted junk

Mid-handicapper here, bought this - sensors, link, app - sending it back. No terrain data, ie it recommends clubs based on distance alone regardless of the fact that it might be 100ft up or down to the pin. BIG ONE - no green terrain data. It reads every green as flat. A lot of the data is therefore flawed. Like many golfers, I use my 7 iron for chipping around greens and the approaches. Again, the 7 iron data will be flawed because you can’t tell the app that it was a 7 iron chip, so it assumes you duffed a 7 iron from 50 yards. Another issue is you are responsible for the data gathering but you have to pay £129/$150 sub EACH YEAR. That is just ridiculous and why I will be returning. It is just not worth that amount of money when free apps give you distance and course overview already. PLUS lastly, if you play with friends, there is no scorecard function within the app to keep everyone’s score. You have to use another app for that or a scorecard. You will also spend A LOT of time buried in your apple watch/phone rather than enjoying the scenery and golf with your mates!

I think you might be using it wrong. My app adjusts for slope and maybe have to spend a total of 5 minutes on my phone over 18 holes

There’s no green terrain info, right? Therefore what is the point in spending £150+ per year on the app when free ones will give you almost as much on-course data? I don’t need an app to tell me where my game needs improving 😂 My point about using a 7 iron, say, for a bump and run still stands too. App will factor into my 7 irons stats that I duffed one 50 yards rather than record it as a bump and run. Thereby skewing the 7 iron data. I will wait for an app that focusses solely on 150-0 yards because thats where the real game is. This app and many others severely lack in this regard. App is only good for remembering your drives, which to me isn’t worth £150 per year.

You can mark any shot as a chip. This will fix your problem.

@@cbravo212You can only mark putts as putts or chips. There are also numerous other issues. Not least, the amount of time you spend checking if its picked up your shot and the lack of terrain data or green data. The greens just appear as miscellaneous green blobs on the app.

There's a little bit of on course stuff with my Link Pro Review here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/abmqg8RkkqvSZnU.html But honestly, there's not a whole lot to see. I just...play ha. Aside from the GPS distances or caddie recs, it's very similar to the screens I show after the fact. That said, will see about doing more on course stuff this Summer!

I really love the system, but the slightly annoying thing about it as a high handicapper is not having the ability to pick up (and stableford scoring) like hole 19 does. it means you have delete all the shots on the hole you picked up on :(
