Jeez the quality of the video just levelled up by lots. Great job on providing such good content, not only for aspiring meds in aus, but also for going above and beyond researching much more than the generic "anki flashcards" and what not. Half way through the vid and loving it.

This is one of the best videos on KZfaq I've ever seen. The quality of editing, the quality of content, discussion, and insight, is unbelievable for something that's available for free. Finding this channel has improved my studying and productivity significantly!

What if the learning involves unlearning? 1. Learning a new computer language say C versus Python 2. Taking a college level course in a subject you loved in high school 3. Studying machine learning after studying statistics -- in statistics there is hypothesis testing and the subject has an epistemological flavor while machine learning emphasizes minimizing the cost function and whatever works -- more of an engineering viewpoint 4. When different subjects interpret words differently "Income" in economics just means you can buy more stuff; in Sociology "Income" is a indicator of social class which for instance may mean you have access to a different social network (do you know judges and college professors or auto mechanics and landscape services) 5. Learning a new dance to the same music -- your muscle memory of the first dance is causing you to make wrong moves in the second dance. 6. Different writing styles a flowery literary style with imagery vs. a terse, extremely literal scientific style.

The "Whole part whole" & "Inquiry bl" no longer seem like study techniques but rather a way to think about the targeted subject. I feel like those are meant to be some sort of mental framework when using actual study methods like the Feynman Technique or past papers. As a side note I just wanna say this was pretty well done and carefully thought. The information in each technique was very concise. I am geniunly impressed that you really managed to clearly explain them in about 2 min each. The only thing that I can think of to make this "Study technique ranking" even better would be adding an actual example of how it could be done with very specific material so we can see how it's done in case some of us find certain techniques somewhat vague and difficult to implement on a daily basis .

In one sense having more efficient study techniques is more important for the older learner cos we have less time left. And, maybe if you really get into self study after your formal education this is essentially inquiry based learning, especially if your studying something for which there is no exams for.

Good survey - but in my experience I would move mindmapping (properly done) to the top tier. Why? Because it makes key techniques such as Enquiry Based Learning and Whole-Part-Whole more concrete and learnable. We know that these top-tier techniques are powerful, but the great majority of students fail to learn them properly and apply them consistently. So the real challenge is how to make them more accessible to the typical student who doesn't find them intuitive. And mindmapping, properly applied, is a powerful tool for overcoming this obstacle. It can take an abstract concept and turn it into a learnable tool.

Hopefully you see this comment. In year 11, I solely used flashcards. I focused too much on retention, and disregarded the need for practice. At the beginning of year 12, I've started to make syllabus-specific notes, since it makes it much easier to keep track of content I've already covered. Do you do something similar, or, do you just write flashcards and apply that knowledge to practice exams?

Hiii! I love this video since it presents both pros and cons of each study techniques and how effect they are. Some of the study techniques are new to me lol. Btw, Im looking forward to your "detailed mind map" Im actually on my 3rd day of doing mind maps for my notes but Im struggling since I dont know how exactly im going to do it. Plus, i have a question, does mind maps work for all subjects especially for subs that require computations like math, chem, physics...? Last question, since the goal of mind map is to get the general overview or the big picture of the topic and make relations, then what about a bunch of specific details, are you going to include it also in your mind map? Sorry for so many questions hahaha, Im a beginner in using study techniques, so I don't know other stuffs :D have a nice day!

Thanks brother I'll surely use those legendary techniques, but question is how do you actually study? I've been starting my study routine with making notes and i can surely agree that it's just a waste of time. Please answer my question brother, How do you study? What do you do after you have set down on your chair ready to study? How do you study??😔

Elaborating Rehearsal isn’t really its own technique as it’s more so the core aspect that drives all of your high level techniques. Those techniques are simply different ways of elaborating on a specific piece of information, they are not separate.
