Supreme Court ruling 2022, direct quote: "The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not “a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.” The exercise of other constitutional rights does not require individuals to demonstrate to government officers some special need. "The Second Amendment right to carry arms in public for self-defense is no different. New York’s proper-cause requirement violates the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their right to keep and bear arms in public." Archie was 100% RIGHT... and Meatball's NEVER been right in his life.

Ryan Taylor, Just because the bought & paid for extreme court helps you feel like a he-man, does not mean that you are right. Have ALL Supreme Court decisions been good for all of us? You might not think Dread Scott was a good idea, unless you are White. You might not think so if you were a tax-paying Japanese-American Citizen who lost your means of support & home, only to have yourself and your family consigned to a horse stable or prison camp. "A WELL-REGULATED MILITIA BEING NECCESARY TO THE SECURITY OF A FREE STATE, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." A strict "originalist" interpretation of the (by definition potentially revised) Second Amendment, means that as long as you are a White, male head of household, you are entitled to a muzzle loader over every fireplace in your home, so help you God. Why are you so insecure (or obnoxious) that you always feel someone is going to kill you unless you are constantly armed?

Why don't you go back to your 7th grade video games instead of insisting that a FICTIONAL 70s right-wing TV character "was right" because YOU THINK he reflects your faux"news", not-so-brightbart, RTV, "news"max brainwashing.

Right or wrong, left or right - you cannot deny that the writing on this show was phenomenal, skillfully touching on controversial subjects that affect everyone. I remember watching this show when I was growing up - laughing at even that young age, at the antics of everyone. Watching it now, and comparing it to the writing in what passes for tv/movies these days - you can truly appreciate the skill and genius of the writers at that time.

It was originally supposed to be just a foil for Hollywood left wing propaganda, making the conservative into a clown. But Carol O'Conner made the character so likable that the audience dug through the foolish dialog to his true meaning. Basically, it backfired on Hollywood... much like the Alex P Keating character on Family Ties.

@@TodaysDante Clever theory, but full of canal water. Nobody ever needed to train conservatives to be clowns. They've always done a fine job on their own (look at our ex-president). What the writers of AITF did was pan it so the whole world could see what great entertainers clown conservatives are. Archie was not loved, he was despised for his narrow-minded, bigoted, hateful attitudes toward society. His ideology was so aberrant, it was laughable, much the same way Donald Trump's simple mind today is so laughable because it's never in sync with his limited vocabulary.

same way Republican Supreme Court justices say "eminent domain" is totally legal, so long as the government "Fairly compensates". edit: when I posted this I used "grab oil in Iraq after declaring WMDs" but, every year some Sgt Schultz says "I wuz dere, I saw natzing!" So, allow me to save you some time. if you actually served your country in the sandbox, you do know that in fact, you are only told what you need to know. Perhaps you learned this on a FOB, when some sector was off-limits due to some TF TADing up da joint. Maybe you asked a question about something funky going on outside your AO and you got warned, "that's above your pay grade, son!". Hell, even your own CINC is not told everything--its called "plausable deniability". I used to work with a Vietnam vet who SWORE drug use during that "police action" was nothing like portrayed in the movies. All the draft vets laughed at him, knowing full well how much battle hash they tried. BUT, we figured out why he said what he said--he was a volunteer Jarhead who left in 1969. In other words....his experience was correct. But it sure as hell didn't reflect what was going on. Ever hear the story of the three blind men who find an elephant in their way? They can't see the big picture, so they can only identify the problem by what they can touch.

Here is the entire quote by Mason. “I ask, Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers. But I cannot say who will be the militia of the future day. If that paper on the table gets no alteration, the militia of the future day may not consist of all classes, high and low, and rich and poor; but they may be confined to the lower and middle classes of the people, granting exclusion to the higher classes of the people.” “Forty years ago, when the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually, by totally disusing and neglecting the militia. […] This was a most iniquitous project. Why should we not provide against the danger of having our militia, our real and natural armed strength, destroyed? The general government ought, at the same time, to have some such power. But we need not give them power to abolish our militia. If they neglect to arm them, and prescribe proper discipline, they will be of no use. I am not acquainted with the military profession. I beg to be excused for any errors I may commit with respect to it. But I stand on the general principles of freedom, whereon I dare to meet any one. I wish that, in case the general government should neglect to arm and discipline the militia, there should be an express declaration that the state governments might arm and discipline them. With this single exception, I would agree to this part, as I am conscious the government ought to have the power.” Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 14, 1788

@@johnmavroudis2054 And yet pretty much every time there's a mass shooting, the place where it happened had those very common sense gun laws in place. Criminals laugh at common sense gun laws. And if by "education," you mean a certain amount of time in a classroom, that might not be a bad thing. Big Education has become less and less synonymous with education with every passing year. This is why we have so many adults with expensive degrees who don't even know the basic functions of their government. "Education" these days doesn't educate. It just repeats a collection of political OPINIONS and passes them off as fact.

It requires Congress to leave people's right to bear arms uninfringed, BECAUSE without that right of self-defense and protection the state cannot form a militia of the people, when it is required to do so. It would necessitate a standing, armed army, which Washington felt was a bad thing for a government to be in control of.
