The end scoring sounds like the end game of Smallworld. Great review; just discovered this game (post-KS campaign, sadly) and appreciate your candidness on it. Helps with making a decision (which is: I'll wait for now).

Thanks for the well presented review. I was interested in this game due to the theme but I can't get passed the poor looking board and components (although the card art was great). I really liked the Invasion of the Saucer Men art you had up in the background!

I was looking forward to check it out. Thanks for the well explained review. It helped me to realize that this will most likely be a pass for me. As soon as a game needs expansions right of the start my interest immediately drops .... unless it was build for it from the get go - like LCGs...

This is a special edition version of the game that has some special bits. There's a board in this copy that I didnt use for the video but I don't think the big evil tower in the middle of the board isn't in the base game. It's pointless anyway. The middle of the board really doesn't do anything other than hurt you for moving through it. It just looked cooler in the video :)

The foil cards are from the collectors' editing I think. They look cool though.

Havent gotten a chance to play it yet, but I'm really excited to! I'm going to get Steve over here to play it soon, I really think it would be a great one to play with him. As soon as I so I'll decide if it's cool enough to feature. (I read the rules and I think it seems great)

i'm gonna be that guy - shouldn't it be pronounced "arch" mage instead of "ark" mage?

There is a lot of discussion about this all over the internet particularly in fantasy game forums but from everything I've learned over the years it should be pronounced "Ark-Mage" similar to the word Archangel which has the hard K sound. The derivation is Greek "arkhi" which means 'denotes primary importance or authority' and uses the hard K sound rather than the CH sound. English bastardizes all kinds of words so I dont think it's wrong to say either Arch or Ark honestly.

@@Thesecretcabal interesting. must be like the formal, dictionary-correct pronunciation vs. the idiomatic, because yes i have always pronounced -mage with the CH and the -angel with K sound.
