I just played this and was absolutely blown away. I only played two players and think it would be twice as good with 3 or 4. This is a chess type game. You expect a good type of deep analysis. It is strategic and tactical, with much more emphasis on tactics. Tom seems to want to play a game with a different design, and then judges the game negatively for playing like the designer actually intended. This is NOT an exploration game, no more than chess or Vindication. But he wants it to be an exploration game. He wants to acquire more spells, then complains the game is too busy (acquiring many more spells would make the game a nightmarish mess ... create extreme AP and destroy unique approaches for each player).

I've not played this, though I like the look of the spell wheel.

Are the hexes the same size as the Catan hexes? I am wondering if you couild use the Catan game board for the setup, or is the board too big?

I hope the forthcoming expansion will fix some of the issues. Surely, it'll offer more variability.

I thought I saw this uploaded a few days ago. Didn't notice any glaring reason for the reupload (except I thought it got a seal of approval). The retail edition missing out on the game board seems annoying.

A friend of mine got this in September and we played it. I have the exact same thoughts as Tom. Interesting, but not fulfilling. I also felt like it took way longer to play than it actually did, which is a bad sign for a game.

Hehehe now it has the correct judgement.

At the end of the previous video de game he gives his approval is not archmage or at least it doesn't look like it.

I wish the Dice Tower reviews would also give a suggested rating number (1-10) along with the textual rating. The video concludes with "An interesting area control game," but why not state an actual rating number? The ratings appear on the Dice Tower web site, why not in the reviews themselves? (Maybe this allows the review number to change without having to alter the video?)

The Solo mode automa is very similar to Mage Knight's Volkair. Dice Tower channel feels very old, there is never any mentions about Solo play (any mention would be great). Soon, there will be more solo players than group players.
