Hey there,
In this video I take a look at arctic air tower. The Arctic Air tower is an evaporative cooler that cools a large space. The arctic air tower has a filter and uses water to cool your room.

Hvac tech here. Just buy a window ac or portable ac. You're just using a tiny swamp cooler that's adding humidity to the room. You're not actually removing any heat from the cooled space.

I think the pumping noise that you're hearing is that it's filtering itself and I don't think you should worry about the wobbliness sometimes when things are made out of plastic it happens like that I don't think that's an issue at all as long as it's working and it's functional and is blowing out cool air then you're good to go.

I'm so glad you showed the inside, it helped me know if the blue hose in the back is supposed to go inside the water holder or outside (when I opened it, it was originally outside, but the water holder wouldn't close all the way so I was a little confused)

I bought this fan in may of 2020 and I had no problems. I added ice cubes to the cold water I put in the tray and I wet and froze the filter and it successfully cools my hallway, HOWEVER, now a year later, I can't find anywhere to buy the replacement filter, not even on the community website.

I appreciate your video and explaining how to use. Mine does wobble, but it’s never fallen over or anything. It didn’t put out real cold air, the fan doesn’t seem to blow out very far, I’m using in my garage and plan to set it up and use all day tomorrow while I work, so I’ll be able to see how cool it makes the garage.

8:12 it works like Jeff says, it cools my garage to a good 73 degrees which is comfortable to work in. I don’t use the rotation, I just keep it blowing on me where I’m working. It is wobbly, have to be careful if you move it or it comes apart. Mine is currently on a small furniture mover, so that I can move the furniture mover, which is on wheels and not have to move the air tower. I think it’s worth the money when you consider how hot it can get working in the garage.

All right so I just bought one of these and I found this very helpful but let me ask you this, did yours leak at all and as your one little blue hose just dangling at the top? I have a short one that’s about 3 inches just dangling at the top. I also noticed my water is very cloudy after just a few days so I literally have to take the whole tower to the sink to dump it and wash it?

Just purchased this and I definitely don't think it's worth the money. Mine also wobbles alot and with a small toddler I'm just waiting for it to fall over. My base is snapped in correctly so that's not the problem. It also leaks a ton of water from bottom I can not find where it's leaking out from but very frustrating. Besides these issues it does cool down the room and I like how quiet it is.

I'm hoping an HVAC professional sees, but I live in Houston, Texas. A particularly humid place already. My HOA does not allow us to have window units so I resort to portable AC, but a portable AC is pretty pricey. I really just want to place this in my gaming room where I have a lot of electronics and I won't be running it for hours at a time. Could this be a good alternative to a portable AC or should I just avoid this. I'm worried about rust but I'm not sure if that's a thing with these types of units.

You need less humidity. That looks like it works really well. The oscillating feature is the best, as it’s essentially a “spot” cooler. I move to different position in my van and have to constantly move my arctic air pure chill 2.0. I’ll definitely look into this device. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the review. So this is helpful if you are 5 feet away, but if you wanted to cool a room, even a small one, would not be so helpful? And it's unstable. And is dumping the water out messy or much of a chore? How large is the filter. You say it fit sin your freezer but my freezer is very small, as is everything here. Thanks. I really love my small artic airs there good especially at night. They have a white noise and keep it cool. You just have to replace the ice water after it evaporates. It’s great as a one room thing as an addition to your central air. So It seems like the tower is the same but bigger version.

@dodgerlady1282

Yes mine is doing the same. It was literally working fine until I added fresh ice cold water. I did notice the blue tube in the water tank comes up when the tank is opened and goes down when it is closed properly. And after watching where the water is spitting out from, it appears to be the top of the filter, where the water compartment to essentially dribble onto the filter, it's over flowing, causing it to drip an excessive amount of water every 30 seconds. Couldn't find anything to remedy the situation on the manual or the website. And I also know that the unit will not turn on if the grill cover is not on.

@Gonefishing185
@Gonefishing185 11 ай бұрын
there are two blue tubes in the reservoir, one is connected to the pump at the bottom of the reservoir, that takes water to the top of the filter. The other hangs freely (i think this is the one you are seeing) returns water to the reservoir from the bottom of the filter. As long as that tube is pretty much hanging downward so water can drain out of it, it shouldn't matter much, I hope you this helps you or someone!

It should be noted that the current version, the Tower+, now includes a plastic bottle where you can put water in it and freeze it and insert it into holder on the water tank. This gives you very chilled water without needing to use ice cubes, and that could make the unit run even cooler.

@@Jeffreviews4u I'm running it right now as I type this. Unlike the smaller Arctic Air units, the fan (even at low speed) blows quite strongly and if you fill and use the enclosed water bottle (frozen in freezer) and soak the cooling element and then freeze that too, the air coming out is actually *VERY* cold indeed. Yes, there are better evaporative coolers, but then they are quite bulky to use and you end up having to fill and freeze 3-4 supplied plastic bottles, not to mention filling up an 1.4 gallon water tank!

Hey Jeff, I recently brought the Artic Air Pure Chill that you reviewed. (Thanks for that vid. btw cause I hate reading directions) I found that if you put fan in front of that bad boy it actually cools down the room because it pulls that cold air further. I didn't have a fancy thermometer like you, but my dogs seemed to love it a lot more than just the fan by itself. An oscillating fan, and the tiny cooler I feel is much more affordable. Probably something you could test out. (If you won't)

ya due to the humidity increase of these fans they really should only sell them to dessert/ low humidity area. Sometimes the muggy feeling is worse then the heat.

Mine isn't pumping water either 😡I'm pissed. Bought it at Walmart and I lost the receipt paid a hundred bucks for it it's a piece of junk it's just an expensive fan. I wonder if I can take it to another Walmart and return it I'm out of town right now and thought I can use it for my camper and be honestly it's been running 20 hours that water hasn't gone anywhere stuck my hand down or did fill a shock to see if it's pumping but I don't hear any water it's a piece of crap so people don't buy it and you can't get a hold of customer service and they have no website it's not legit yep needs to be reported to better business viewer

So it is possible to operate this without the filter? or without water? The water pump noise is driving me nuts, I think I could use it as a dry fan. (It's really humid where I am so the water is defeating its purpose) Sad face.

Seriously you put the thermometer in front of the fan? It’s just reading how cold the wind is, a better location would be the table behind it.

It's an evaporative cooler by any other fancy name is still an evaporative cooler. They are usually cheap, have no condenser and work by blowing air over a wet screen. And they only work in dry desert climates. YOUR CAN MAKE YOUR OWN CHEAP EVAPORATIVE COOLER!"; Just put an electric or battery operated fan blowing wind at a damp towel that's hanging 2 or 3 inches in front of the fan (but not laying on the fan due to fire hazard). When the towel starts to dry, dampen it again. The water evaporating off the damp towel makes the air colder! These evaporative coolers don't work on the East Coast where there is more humidity. If your on the East Coast, look for a small portable A/C that has a condenser. If your lucky you may find a portable 12 volt one that can run off of batteries. They are expensive though.

I *think* I may have figured this out. (Soooo frustrating that there isn’t a website or phone number to call...). The short blue hose in the water reservoir - that’s the drain. I have concluded that if I don’t fill beyond where that falls when I close the reservoir, I don’t get the leak. I’m guessing that somehow the drain doesn’t always keep up with the pump - hence the overflow from the filter, then out of the front grill. I also have kept the reservoir open just enough so that the short hose doesn’t go in the water. Either way - you want that short hose to not be in the water. I have been watching for about 20 minutes and haven’t had any leaking! Fingers crossed!
