It is surprising to me that no comments have been made regarding the close proximity you had with this foxes. That was my very first thought. Obviously these animals could smell you, and even see you, and yet they act as if you are just not there. And you didn't use any blind/hide either. Just you all sitting there out in the open. I'd like to know more about your methods.

The Arctic Fox (Alopex lagopus) is a small dog native to the polar regions of Eurasia and North America, it known for its ability to seasonally change the color of its fur coat, in fall and winter it is white, while in spring and summer, it is blackish brown, it is one of the four extant species constituting the genus Alopex, the others are the Corsac Fox (Alopex corsac), the Swift Fox (Alopex velox), and the Kit Fox (Alopex macrotis), the former is its closest living relative as the corsac fox is very similar to the arctic fox.

It's so special to have an experience like this! Great shots! Several of us had a similar experience at a den near Cambridge Bay in Nunavut. Eight fox kits playing around the several openings of their den. Mom kept trying to make them go underground, but it was no use and she gave up. The kits so desperately wanted to come as close as they dared to us! Magical.

Have you gone back to the place to see how these cute pups have grown up. Perhaps we will get to enjoy an updated video and more beautiful pictures . Amazing how close they came that you had to use the gopro or even a cellphone. Time for me to upgrade my cellphone with better camera and video capabilities because like you I have encountered a similar situation where a Virginia rail walked passed my hiding spot and I had too long a lens!
