Nice review. I would also recommend Ardbeg Uigeadail from 2003 aka L3 batch. I sourced a few bottles of it last year and that is light years ahead of today’s version of Uigeadail. Containing whisky from the 70’s.. it’s just something else.

Other's had told a similar opinions on the older Uigeadails. I just started searching for them and Lagavulin 21 (1985). Any thoughts on where I can pick them up?

My favourite Ardbeg's have been all bourbon matured, unusual for my palate but I feel it just showcases what makes Ardbeg unique better. Like you pointed out, the older stocks are hard to come by, I would love to try this one and see how the older bourbon aged whisky takes on the Oloroso finish - I could see it striking a nice balance. That metallic tone is distinctive in Ardbeg for me. Great run through Mike, Cheers! 🥃👍

Whisky Geek no doubt the bourbon only Ardbeg’s showcase the distillery charter better, the 21 and 10 are great examples... but I’ve never got the metallic smell before maybe the peat covered it up for me. Interesting to hear it’s more common for others. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks Mike for this in depth review. Can’t wait for you to share this with Billy when he makes his return. 2 bottles of the 23 something have surfaced by me but they’re going for $560 each all in. I pass by them drooling each time. One day I’ll get them.

That price is about right, sadly... Ardbeg's with an age statement over 10 years are rare.
