The Sigfox LPWAN is a good choose for this project. There are many ways to deliver the sms through the net.

There are no Sigfox or LoRa gateways here in Canada. We are going LTE 4G Cat M1 and nB/IOT cellular

An actual complete schematic would be great. I suppose one could use a PIC to send that string to an HC-06.

You can use any micro-controller with an UART interface to send the control string hence the block diagram. I have built a few of these using the low power MSP430 microcontroller in a very small package. if the truck is near by you can use LoRa to solve the truck scenario. What IC are you using in the demo. Its between nano and the hc-06

Yes Lora would work if the truck was nearby. If the truck was stolen and driven a long distance the constant alarm trigger could be used by the cellular provider to track the vehicle using cell tower triangulation. This is a great project but if your cell is on silent mode or you are a heavy sleeper this may not help. I wonder if we can make one that sends the signal via SMS to a device that will sound a local alarm?

Go to Google play store and download Text Message Sounds app. This app has many notification sounds that you can use. They are loud and will work even in silent mode. Check out the Air Horn, Hockey Horn, and Police Siren sounds.

The alarm system is battery powered so the control box battery and cell phone would have to be recharged at some point in time.

Eventually the alarm will be triggered and the continuous SMS alarm can be tracked by the cellular provider using cell tower triangulation so keep your cell IMEI number handy. You can also text your cell phone and it will return its location when running Cerberus. Most vehicles have anti theft chip keys but to go one step further pull out the fuel pump fuse.
