There's a caliper kit + drum to disc conversion a couple outfits are selling for about $2700 just for GQ/GU Patrols - Upgrades the rotor size but you need minimum 17" rims. Bendix says you need minimum 18" rims for this kit - So price in a set of wheels and tyres if you want to go either way. Just upgrading your rotors won't change your brake distance, just the fade, and in real world driving your brake fade will probably hit your drums first. I reckon 18" rims won't give you enough tyre & sidewall unless you've got 35s and they may be hard to come by in a lot of places.

Hey Jocko, Recently purchased a 2014 Colorado and got it serviced, got it serviced last weekend as I was having some electrical trouble and the mechanic found out the rotors on the front end are nearly gone. I could really use this kit as I haven't quite recovered financially from the purchase. Anyway I really hope I am lucky enough to get this kit but good luck to everyone. Cheers Jocko and everyone over at 4WD 24/7, you guys are a bunch of bloody legends!!!

Gday Jocko and the 4WD 24/7 team! I’ve had my first car for nearly 6 months now, it’s a 1989 Daihatsu Feroza (DX) and you could say the brakes need more than an upgrade after over 30 years of abuse. As whoever drives gets a solid leg workout! And with the glasshouse just up the road would be awesome be able to stop on those gnarly hills! If you could please help me out that would be wicked, cheers!!!

Hey all, I've got an old HJZ75 1991 Landcruiser, I have been slowly fixing it up over the last couple of months and a brake upgrade would really be great, with the older Landcruiser models not having any airbags in the vehicle and the standard brakes not being as efficient as they used to be a new set of brakes would help improve the safety of my vehicle when I'm on the road, thanks and good luck to everyone.

Hey Jocko!! Loving the last couple of info episodes, I’ve got a Holden RG Colorado and would love the brake upgrade for the colorado to make towing our new caravan a breeze before setting out on a trip away! Plus winning the brake upgrade would keep me in the good books with the wife so I don’t need to buy better brakes and won’t be ‘wasting’ money on my car as she tells me

Hey Jocko, I had never even considered a brake upgrade until I saw your video, fascinating! I have an 80 series Toyota Landcruiser that I have been upgrading with new bulbar, winch, recovery gear, maxtrax, drawers, rooftop tent, extra batteries, water tanks etc, all in preparation for a 4000km pilgrimage to Fraser Island in October. Haven’t been since a school trip in 1979. Winning the breaker upgrade would save the money on the upgrade I see I have to do, and leave me more for the diesel that is getting dearer by the day! Keep making the informative and entertaining videos. Cheers!

Hey Jocko! I drive a 2012 Ford Ranger for work and play. She’s carrying a bit of extra weight with all the standard off road upgrades, tray, canopy and 12v setup. I tow a loaded tool trailer five days a week and the weekends if I’m not off road I’m towing a 19 foot fibreglass fishing boat. 1999 NL Pajero LWB. So good to see more and more episodes of Jocko! Especially the more technical episodes! "I Love Getting Data", that's the best! I drive an older 1999 LWB NL Pajero, and have been slowing kitting it out for off the beaten track trips with my family. Bigger wheels, tyres, beefier suspension, ammo boxes, draw system in the works, front bar, under body protection, fridge etc, all the budget basics I need to get myself and my family out into the bush. My main reason for wanting this brake upgrade, over and above it being an older, heavy 4WD with some much needed attention for the brakes to bring it up to modern standards, is the safety of my family while on the roads and trails, especially for my 16month old daughter, who we can finally take on adventures with us! You can't put a price on safety, but even with that in mind, I wouldn't be able to afford a big brake upgrade without help anyways. I just want to have safe travels and make memories!

I'm driving a Ford PX2 Ranger still with OE brakes. I have already done some of the necessary upgrades to bigger tyres and suspension to be able to tackle my 'driveway'. I'm living at the top of a mountain a couple of hours inland from Byron Bay where the track is already quite gnarly and rutted and with a few water crossings before I even get to the steep mountain climb. The first 20 odd km of black top into town is well known as some of the most pothole riddled road in the region so I need to be on my toes for changing potholes as they can be suspension killers! After seeing this video clearly I need to upgrade my brakes, particularly doing a drum to disc conversion on the rear as I'm crossing water several times every trip out of my driveway! Great video and extremely informative Jocko, I really do enjoy watching the variety of videos on 4WD 24-7.

Hey guys long time subscriber and supporter of the channel 😊 We just purchased a 2013 GU Nissan patrol as our 2006 patrol engine blew up 🥺. We have a little pop top caravan that we use for family holidays and love to travel to all the destinations I’ve seen thanks to you guys However the new patrol has a few mods like draws and fridge in the rear and steel roof racks amongst other mods but still has standard breaks and it’s something we desperately need to upgrade so we can continue to enjoy our adventures and do it safely. To have this upgrade would be amazing and able me to have that peace of mind while towing our van that I can stop when needed to in a hurry and that driving on hills the breaks won’t get hot and not work putting my young family in danger. Keep up the great work guys and I look forward to more great content from you 😊🙏🍺

G’day Shauno, Jocko and Graham. I’ve got a 2012 79 Series dual cab that I use for hunting, fishing and towing the van with the family. I was towing our van down the hill to the Northern end of Wyangala the other day and was shocked at how the OEM brakes heated up to the point of smoking, even with electric brakes fitted to the van. Was a pretty scary experience for all of the family. I was only just saying to the wife the other day that I reckon we need to upgrade the brakes on the big rig ASAP for towing! The old girl Done Monkey last weekend and is going to the snow this weekend! I do big trips from Batemans bay up to coffs, Southwest rocks and Hat head every year with plenty of beach driving. Being an old girl with 330,000kms and larger Mickey Thompson Muddies. I don’t need to tell you how the standard breaks on these things work! Great episode Jocko, Have the PX2 Ranger myself and yeah the stock brakes are great for street driving going down the shops or running kids around, but have been helping my disabled son build a competition car over the last 12mths as he cant get a Lic due to his special needs. With the car trailer, his car and then all the gear in the back for the day, car load of family buckled in it makes for some interesting experiences, been looking at brake upgrades for awhile but the budget just cant always stretch. Would love to feel safe and know that the family is as well & we don't have to pick and choose the events we enter due to the travelling involved. With the big brake upgrade on the Ranger it would greatly help towards him continuing to enjoy himself behind the wheel of his car, and would only leave ourselves to upgrade the trailer from Hydro to Elec down the road when my funds become avail. Again great episodes Jocko and all the boys from 24/7 each week ... Cant wait for next weeks adventures !!

Hey jocko, I have a 2013 ford ranger , I tow a van on the back of it and have alot of precious cargo to look after inside the cab as well “kids”! This video is a real eye opener for how you can come unstuck with a loaded up vehicle relying purely on the stock brakes. Had this happens years ago towing my van with a vehicle that was well under being a suitable tow vehicle, I was on a down hill climb, auto, and the brakes got so hot that they were failing to slow down the vehicle , felt like my foot was through the floor, I was packing it big time, lucky the bottom of the hill had a nice flat stretch where I was able to roll off speed to finally pull up. Even though pulling up for a whole and letting them cool down help a bit, they were badly glazed and needed full replacement …

I drive on the expressway everyday to work... and at the same time everyday for what appears to be no reason... everyone slams their brakes on going from 100kms to 20-30kms. Can be a little scary to stop in time... so definitely an upgrade i need to do! Would be super grateful for better brakes to keep me adventuring now I've just started! building my gu patrol into somewhat of a family tourer and with added weight and a camper in tow a brake upgrade would be the best piece of mind to know my family and other road users are safe and happy. Then I'd just need to sort the last hurdle of the wife backing the trailer hahaha. Thanks for the great content and the opportunity for a brake upgrade kit

Thank you Jocko for another fantastic video. The family and I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee to tow our home/caravan plus as much off roading we can squeeze in. This would most differently be a great piece of gear for our rig. Cheers

Got a 2004 extra cab hilux V6. Going to Cape York in a month towing my polaris 570 quad bike on a toyhauler. Been doing bits like suspension and tyres dual battery system awning etc along the way. All I need now is a upgraded brake system to help pull up the weight and keep control going down gunshot. Will send a few pictures when im loaded up and ready to go 😉

That brake upgrade would be awesome, I’ve got a 2014 Holden Colorado which has all the bar work and accessories and now I’m towing around a 21ft van that weighs over 3 tonne and although the brakes work okay. Having that upgrade would make us feel so much safer in the road

Hey guys, got a Prado 150 and been adding weight slowly but surely, bar, winch, wheels, tyres, drawers, awning, etc etc and the brakes are really starting to struggle. Scared me a few times already and needs an upgrade to make it safer with some big trips planned over the next couple years. But especially as its the daily drive in the burbs, she needs an upgrade. Keep up the great work, love your vids 👍

PX ranger 2013, have a canopy on and when loaded very close to GVM. Last time i had to jam the anchors on was when a deer jumped out in front of me and the ute did not stop like i thought it was going to, definatly an eye opener for me and have tried to be mindful of this ever since. Brake upgrade kit would give me a little peace of mind when out and about

We have a 2016 Ford ranger XLT almost the same set up as shown in the video, and after being in the high country driving through mud and coming down some steep tracks after driving through those muddy tracks and having some tense moments and the brake pedal is being pushed hard, that upgrade would be very useful. Also time saving as we had to wait so long at the bottom to cross a creek crossing as the brakes were so hot we didn't want to go into the almost freezing water and destroy the brake even more. Loving the content.

Hey hey, i have a VW Amarok 2014, i have added a bullbar, winch, spotties, roof rack, rock sliders, 2inch lift, ARB canopy, spare battery in the back and also a long range fuel tank, will also be adding a roof top tent and 270 awning. After having these i have noticed it takes longer to stop even when going slow. Definitely in need of new brakes especially before i tackle the Gibb river road next year with the family. Cheers for another cracking video

Hi Jocko - awesome test! My 2022 n80 hilux and slide on camper will shortly take my wife and me around Australia on a 4 month epic adventure! Having decent brakes could mean the difference between an awesome trip and a massive disappointment if we crash or hit an animal - hope to hear from you and Bendix to help us make our dream trip a success!

Hey Jocko, I've got a 2013 Toyota Hilux SR5 and have just started doing carpentry and maintenance work for the locked up Aboriginal Communities in the middle of Western Australia and the Northern Territory. I often need to tow a dual axle trailer with both that and the car being fully loaded with 3 blokes, all our tools and meals. I had a hard brake line snap at the calliper on my way into one of the communities due to the terrible unmaintained roads and corrugations. It was lucky one of the boys needed a piss before we got into town because otherwise I probably wouldn't have realised I had no brakes very late and it could have been very bad. Had to bush mechanic it when we got I to town with just a punch, a hammer and some drill bits and some bending of some brackets. Also snapped an antenna tab on the Bullbar due to this. So I could definetly benefit from this!

Jocko/4wd 24-7/Bendix Team. Nice Video, its great that your putting this video out, alot of folks are focus alot on upgrading Hp or adding wieght to their vehicles without thinking of stopping. Hopefully this video educates people and making us all safer on public roads. I drive a 2017 Sr5 Dual Cab Toyota Hilux. After watching all of 24/7 action vids, I finally decided to bite the bullet and take some time off to go to Fraser in September. I'm due for new brake pads soon, however this Kit would absolutely be awesome. Keep up the good work guys

I have a 2017 ranger canopy awning draws fridge winch. She’s a heavy girl and I’m off to Uluṟu next year. It’s a 7000km trip and with a trailer I am very concerned with braking. I have noticed from stock to now there is a huge difference in stopping distances and with saving for fuel costs and building or buying a camper the brake upgrade is a dream.

Hey mate, my name is Andrew Crotty , I have a 2019 dt50 twincab, Next year I'm heading to the Cap for the first time, we are taking two vehicles, both Bt50's, I have been doing a lot of upgrades on the ute, and I'm working on my daughters ute at the same time to get her's ready. I've lifted mine with better tyre's, and I find the braking isn't great, and my wife is the one that drives it the most. She works with the aged and impaired, so I made sure she has the reliable car, anyway thanks for the opportunity, I'm looking forward to your next one, very good to watch 👍👍

Hey guys, We have a 2009 GU ST Nissan Patrol wagon. It has the rear decked out with drawers and fridge, roof rack and bar work, but the main reason I would love to throw the brake upgrade in is because in approximately 2 months we are making the move back to Victoria all the way from Karratha, Northwest WA. Travelling down through Perth and then across the Nullarbor. Roughly just under 5000km trip would be amazing to have brakes we can rely on, especially with the cattle wandering over roads in these parts. Cheers legends.

Brake upgrade was the first upgrade I did to my chevy tahoe. The OE brakes are great for factory tires and weight without towing, but get eaten up when bigger tires are installed. Now that I have 33s and an extra 300 pounds with tools, parts, storage bin, roof rack, and weight of taller/wider tires.

I have had a bit go on my car recently. Things like the engine oil cooler, starter motor, EGR, and cylinder head. I feel like I am finally getting on top of the things that a wrong with this nugget so I can start with the good stuff. My 2009 BT50 dual cab is basically stock apart from an alloy bullbar, snorkel, and 32" tires but some bigger mods like steel bar work, lift, and a canopy is in the works. Getting this upgrade will help with the never-ending headaches of DIY vehicle maintenance plus it will help with all the "mate with a ute" stuff like helping move and take loads to the tip. This ute is my daily and I do a lot of city freeway driving and being able to pull up quicker is always helps in those clencher moments in peak hour traffic.
