I don't see much room for tactical manouvering in Spearhead. All these people were invited to the preview event and want to keep access. I slag GW off too much to ever be one of those people. I can't really trust most of them. One or two there that i would trust the opinion of but even they would be watching their words. They are playing the game. .and i dont mean AOS.

Spearhead is the wargame equivalent of magic the gathering. Every few months there will be a new meta just like bustin packs. Why even have models. It could all be played as a card game.

This what happened to gaming and entertainment journalism. This is the reason the new star wars show has a 90% critic review and 12% audience review. The "critics" who cozy up to "establishment" and get invited to events and get early access literally have a reason to upsell the product a make company look good which makes them look good which makes company looks good. I put this 100% on content creators. Even tho they are a company similiar to gw. They arnt a corporation and its literally thier job to speak for all of us

Upon further review. I actually put most of responsibility on consumer. Content creators ate beholding to thier audience. Audience capture is real. WE need to be aware of the bias. Gotta take responsibility where it's due.

Something really weird that GW constantly bring up is how fast and quick the game is. They just keep honing in on fast simple games and idk I joined the hobby to play warhammer not checkers

I stopped watching AoW for reasons discussed in this ep. But i stopped watching months ago probably around last wtc season. The reason was the aggressive member tier system promising more and more access. Felt very weird. Then an ep i was listening to was censored in a weird way and since then i respect the players and look at lists but dont watch the content

It’s a pyramid scheme to get better at a game that is unbalanced and requires you to buy new the army to do well with every few months

@epic_flail i have the privilege of being able to listen to 10 hrs of podcasts a day while at work and at this point i feel like i hate-listen to some 40k content. Because of this culture of competitive secrecy i think it devalues so much of the content. So many ppl being like "without disclosing your team secrets" so cringe. Edit: AoW downunder is an exception cause Adam is a legend.

It is interesting to see what everybody is saying about the new edition, although I can’t say if it is going to get me hooked. Aos 3.0 kinda lost me thanks to the skaven stuff that got released being quit unskaveny (the rules where literally following the concept of the waldorf school) And currently the old world got me hooked so yeah lets see if aos 4.0 is getting me back (although I’m not certain it’ll get rid of my interest for the old world, which is a really cool game just not easy to learn😂😅)

They are TOs organizers and/or content creators, so their opinion about new AOS is not fair. GW "pay" them by different ways (boxes, rumours, etc)

Yes absolutely. Then they make load of content before anyone else has a chance and get money for it through subscriptions to their program

The only saving grace for a regular person are the inevitable PDF leaks. Otherwise, a select few gets all the information way beforehand.

VT showed how in bed they are with the custodes(?) release. The full rules leaked and Box complained on a stream about people leaking it affected VTs review videos about the codex performance numbers and hit their ad revenue. All these channels rarely get out from under the GWs desk that their opinion is rarely worth anything.

This is the sort of situation that concerns me. The content creators are incentivised to get close as it makes them load of money. It also gives them an unfair advantage competitively (which they then also monetise)

No competitive players in the vid. I watched one bat rep from a comp channel that said if you get behind turn 1, it's really hard to come back and the new double turn mechanic really disincentives you from taking it if you're behind. It looks like going first and having a "i have all the objectives, come and take them" game plan is the way to go. Now I know why they weren't invited to the video.

The problem with GW adopting modern marketing etc is they're always so late to the party it kind of makes it less effective. Like you see exactly what they're doing and then feel like they're quite incompetent for just getting round to it.

For me it really stood out when dark angels codex came out, and a number of extremely popular creators were GLAZING gw. Blatantly shilling for Daddy. Was very disappointing.

@@epic_flail Why make it complicated? Look at videos of a bunch. Everything is "cool" and "good", no critique, when there is plenty to be had. PLENTY. But no, none of that.
