The simplicity of EV power train and software-defined architecture plus advanced manufacturing -- soon complete robotic assembly -- are allowing EVs to surge past conventional, combustion vehicle manufacturing. Somehow legacy auto is beholden to horse and buggy architectures and methods... strange. In a blink, EVs will be half the cost (and dropping) of ICE, and rides will be a tiny fraction of the cost of ownership. ICE has culminated and is soon to be routed.

Great one Will, the fact that Everything Electric has managed to get so many people on test drives is an amazing one and Quentin is a fabulous and well articulated spokesman. You have the passion and that is what I love, this technology is exciting and is coming, despite the nay sayers. New sales figure show an increase in BEV's again, but Plug ins seem to be gaining more. I don't see this as bad, as everyone I know that has one, tries only to use the battery. So I am sure many will be ready for the full BEV when it is time to upgrade. The Tesla Cybertaxi could also be huge and let people see what is available right now!

Nice one Will - thanks for pointing out the average renewables/ccgt electricity generation mix. A lot of numbskulls still say that EVs are fuelled by coal. The last UK coal fired power station (Ratcliffe on Soar) is closing this year - and good riddance!

Safer, easier to operate, cheaper to operate, less trouble to "fuel", less trouble to maintain, fewer things to go wrong, more infotainment features, quicker, smoother, faster acceleration and braking, more interior space, constantly improving software, quieter, great sound system. It unlocks itself for me when I touch the handle and locks itself and farts when I walk away. What's not to love? Well, there are some things. Now that I've done a few road trips, I find I have less "charging anxiety" than I had "fueling anxiety" in the past, but I've got a Tesla and Tesla has the best charging network in the country, with extremely high reliability. Not all EVs have access to a good charging network, so if you are going to be making long trips, I'd suggest you consider Tesla first. Given that charging stations tend to be situated on the order of 100 or further miles apart on the road, some planning about where you'll charge is necessary. Fortunately, the car's navigator can do most of the work, but you still will still need to use the navigator to have the best, anxiety free experience; specifically, you can't just drive down the road until the "low fuel" idiot light comes on and start looking for an exit that advertises gas stations, as you may be accustomed to doing in your ICEV. Also, Perl was the most expensive car I've ever bought, even with the tax incentive, spending over 40 thousand USD on a car still seems extravagant, almost prodigal to me. At the present time the price of a new Tesla Model Y, though less than the "average new car" certainly limits the market and puts it outside of what many are comfortable or even able to spend on a car, so some will need to consider buying on the used market where there are some excellent bargains, but also some risk. Be sure to get the CarFax or other report on any used car, but especially an electric. Note that garages and even Ford, GM, Hyundai, Mercedes, Toyota, etc dealerships for the brand of EV you buy may not have sufficiently well trained staff to service your electric car. Though I've had no trouble with service for Perl (even though my state has no service centers, an itinerant service technician has come to my house a few times for the minor services I've needed), some Tesla owners have reported less than stellar or just plan poor service. There are many configuration options. I love it, but I imagine some folks won't. CHILL versus Standard acceleration modes, Sport/Comfort/Standard steering modes, lock options (windows up when it locks? locks when you walk away? fart or honk or play a song when the car locks? stays unlocked when you walk away when at home or a favorite location? keep the cabin under 100 F when car is parked? Leave Sentry Mode on when parked? Don't leave sentry mode on when parked at home? Assertive FSD? CHILL FSD? Minimal Lane changes for FSD? Move the seats to your saved setting? Use Ease of Entry to lower the seat automatically when you are getting out or raise it after you get in? Use FSD or Autopilot? Which apps do you want on your app bar? etc. It's not complicated or complex, but there are many simple choices in a software-defined-car.

YES, of course! I switched to EVs, in particular Tesla. Had a M3 for nearly a year. Watched thousands of scary anti EV YTube videos and then dumped my gas car with trepidations. Nope, my car didn’t explode like those on YTube esp those videos from China. Guess what, I have confidence in Tesla and is very happy with my M3. Love it, every time I drive it. Get a Tesla!

Had my one car 9 years so years left in that one and my second car owned it 35 years. Not sure if these electric cars will last more than 10 years without a battery change which will right the car off as will cost more than the car is worth. Not sold at the moment.

The transition works like this: 1. EV's are bought as a Second car. 2. Hybrid sales are soaring. 3. The home/street/work charging are increasing, and the charging infrastructure matured 4. The EV sale soars. 5. Trucking goes electric. 6. Construction goes electric. 7. Farming goes electric. 8. All other vehicles goes electric. The competition in transition looks like this: 1. They laugh about it. 2. They sue it. 3. They try to compete with it. 4. They lie about it. So, most of the world are at fase 1-2 in transition. And, the competition are at fase 4. The fossil automotive industry are on their last stand. PS Norway has 26% EV's on the road. If you count pure EV's, and NOT fossil cars with big batteries. The EV's won't overtake fossil cars before 2030.

But a tesla, is a planet killer. A petrol car will have to drive 100,000 miles to match the emissions of a tesla, plus no one knows the cost of decommissioning the batteries. In the uk you’ll be paying £190 road tax from april 25 plus a luxury car tax of £410. In the whole of may 24 there was on average only 3.5 hours of green energy per day from wind or solar the rest was from fossil fuel ie gas. This push for net zero is madness. Co2 is currently 0.042% thats a whopping 3% increase over 20 years and of that 3% only 1.2% was manmade. Meaning man contributed 0.00001512% of the co2 in the atmosphere. And our british government is pushing us back to the Stone Age.

as i agree with you on electric cars being the future, i have to strongly disagree on the electric cars are now, you seem to be very narrow minded with the facts of EVs, like they are all good and better in every way im not saying you specifically said that but it seems your inferring that strongly. and before you ask yes i am "Petrol head", "Car Guy" but im also very aware of the technological filled world we live in and how much better technological/electrical version of old devices are. Whislt being a lover of cars i also love innovation, I'm also what you would call the "Tech Guy" im extremely interested in Renewable energy creation (Solar, Wind, Hydro and also wave) im very much into Home automation, AI and Make Everyday task and things more energy efficient and better for the planet. So personally i wouldn't say im narrow minded for thinkin electric is all bad. I see the benefits of Electric cars superior Aerodynamics, Safety (Especially teslas). also can i mention when you said Older Car Manufacturers are struggling with electric cars, yes obviously they are, but so were tesla at one point and companies like Mercedes are doing quite great in going electric, in some cases better than tesla. But big issues with electric cars and what are making me personally avoid them for as long as i can, Range their range is awful the latest Tesla Model S maxes out at 390 miles when a ICE cars can get 800+ miles with some what ease (a not so aerodynamic car either), im fully confident if ICE cars had Electric car Aerodynamics it could reach 1k+ miles, but that is only a theory of mine. But if the car in question was a hybrid it could of got 1k+ miles without the aerodynamics. Battery Health, the current batteries have been rated for (tesla) is 100-150k miles then it has to be replaced for a decent range to still be possible, and if not under warranty (8yrs) it will be around £10k (going of US data), when a ICE engine can do 170k with ease (on older engines, i expect latest ICE will do 235k with ease) and usually when they fail at the high mark their very easy to repair and dont have to rely on the car company to still be making the part or even exist with ICE Companies you can get a company to manufacturer the required part or do it urself if you have the skills necessary. Now my main concern, Software (mainly in tesla) the software is way too unstable, the underlying software is tbh dogshit, its like building a steel house on 2 pieces of timber, its going to fail one way or the other, and with the software being shit parts are more likely to fail whats not good but you could just take it into tesla to get it fixed, what if they deny u service or simply just dont exist. i think thats it i may of missed something but i believe i got my point across. Feel free to ask me anythin talked about here.
