I’m a user of hotshot secrets I have 12 months of experience with it now. I do have various accounts of higher mileage with the extreme diesel loads I do to clean injectors. I plan on doing more research soon with mixing EDT with extreme. I’m not happy with the winter EDT it doesn’t work well in - weather. The Stiction remover works I use in my 2012 Audi that have ring issues it helped with the oil consumption.

Im a diesel mechanic and yes alot of them are snake oil pretty much all engine oil additives are snake oil unless its chock full of zinc it just grates on me the false promises just be honest yes there is an advantage BUT The only real thing to gain from fuel additives is lubricity ULSD has fucked that up but you can even do that with 2 stroke oil I use the EDT and I did notice a slight improvement in balance rates BUT don't lie to people just tell the truth you are NOT going to gain mileage you are NOT going to "feel more power" the only thing "noticeable " might be a little less knock but the rest of it is just pure long game as far as how long the fuel system lasts just be honest with people it's good for lubricity maybe a little cetane boost and maybe some water dispersion but it's not doing all these other things companies claim including hotshot and im saying that as a diesel mechanic that actually uses it

Well about a decade ago my 05 6.0 was slowly beginning to start hard when cold and run poorly until it warmed up. Was told I need a couple grand in injectors. Finally it wouldn’t start at all. Finally got it barely started and dumped some marvel mystery oil in the fuel and 10 minutes of limping it around it got better and the next day it started. A trip to and from work that day and it’s ran perfect ever since. Finally started using a maintenance product and no further issues so I’d say in the right circumstances it can save you thousands.

There's a local shop here that thinks fuel additives for diesels are totally unnecessary in that the OEM "knows" what they're doing with how fuel systems made with the newer fuels in mind. That same shop villifies cold air intakes, tuning in general and I even had a "tech" tell me tbat GM trucks prior to 2017 DO have lift pumps from the factory...yet the LML owners would disagree and the entire diesel industry would disagree with that shop.

Yah there is always those few that say that you don’t need fuel additives… My own opinion. -You don’t need fuel additives… but feel a little bit guilty now that I hit my calculator that it is .15 a gallon and I often shrug finding a better fuel price. They need to make a tank feeder vs a bottle at a time additive - I just am not that consistent of a guy.

In many places in California it is already 100% renewable diesel for on-road applications. For off-road applications it's 95% renewable diesel 5% bio. Now this applies mostly to terminal distribution and not distributor level distribution. Now I make this differentiation based upon at the distributor level renewable diesel can be Blended to 20% biodiesel 80% renewable.

When in tow tune a 60 hp Tony Wildman product I get very little smoke with hard acceleration or pulling hills. Is EDT the best product.. maybe so, maybe not.. works for me and i can get in gallon to refill the smaller dispensary bottles which is easy.. how.. I screwed a 2.5" long sheetrock screw in the plug you see under the cap and pull it out.. then you can refill the bottle,, leave screw in and push plug back in till next time. easy peeze.

For my 1990 intercooled Cummins 1st gen., every time I'd hit this one bio-fuel station in Oregon, I'd fill up the tank with mostly #2 pump diesel, then top it off with no more than two gallons of B99 biodiesel. This might sound weird, but it would turn a 500 mile tank into a 600 mile tank of fuel. Apparently I hit a sweet spot, between lubricity and cetane. What I'm really excited about is the new R99 "Renewable" diesel. Some areas in Oregon have this as the cheapest-priced diesel (According to Gas Buddy) in their area, even though certain stations in other locations charge more for this fuel. This stuff has removed all of the disadvantages of regular estherization B99, but still has the plant-based lubricity, as well ALMOST TWICE THE CETANE OF #2 pump diesel. The stuff looks like water, and burns way cleaner. Older diesels love it! Metaphorically, it's like Premier Protein for an old fart.

Clearance motor oil or ATF is $2 a quart. One quart per 20-30 gallons. (80:1 to 120:1 ratio.) Balance rates and mileage in my pre-emissions duramax have never been better. Surely a quart (32 oz) of lube oil adds more lubricity than an ounce of additive.

From what I have read and research personally renewable diesel is far superior to any other diesel whether it be bio or Petro diesel when it comes to diesel fuel that is available on the West Coast. As far as additives go the Chevron terminals that I have loaded at use a product called Infinium r95 as a lubricity additive . Infinium r95 is a highly highly concentrated product where less than one gallon will treat 4000 gallons of diesel. With that said I have not been able to find any Baseline information on renewable diesels when it comes to lubricity right out of the production plant. What I have verified just by seat of the pants experience is that renewable diesel offers better cold weather protection at startup than any petrol diesel that I have ever ran

I have a dreaded 08 super duty 6.4 it's May of 2024. The mileage is 136K. Relatively low. Yes, I have done some needed mods. I have just started using fuel additives with an extra. I was at a rock crawler event. When I got talking with a knowledgeable fellow. He told me that if I don't want to change my HP fuel pump and if it's not too late all ready I should add 200cc of 2stroke fuel mix to every 16 gallons of fuel. I am now doing this. The engine seems quieter. I also at around the same time added a large catch can 4"X7" well baffled and packed with SS wool pot scrubbers. There is a 1.5 open chamber on the bottom to hold the collected CCV contaminants the catch can is fed by 1" ID tubing and there is a 3/8" ball valve on the bottom to drain the can. As you know 6.4's have excessive blow-by pressure. This could play hell with seals and gaskets if restricted so 1" ID tubing it is. The thing is since the addition of fuel treatment and the 2stroke fuel mix my CCV pressure seems to have dropped by 1/2. The oil filler cap doesn't dam near blow out of my fingers. ?. Because the can is so well-filtered it vents to the atmosphere. I'm stuck on the performance of a very scientific air-fuel mix in the combustion chamber and believe this should not be missed with by the possibility of CCV contaminants.

At least if you're going to sell a fuel additive you should explain what problem you're correcting in the fuel then be able to prove it. Even the ASTM does not know what causes poor diesel fuel lubricity. This is obvious because the HFRR test the ASTM designed does not in any way duplicate the conditions that occur in a diesel fuel delivery system. The HFRR lubricity test is an abortion. Please define premium diesel fuel? no such thing.

How about read wikipedia rather than listening to false marketing spew on a podcast. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra-low-sulfur_diesel Sulfur is not a lubricity component. Lack of sulfur is not the issue. It's the PROCESS used to remove the sulfur that lowers the lubricity of diesel fuel. It's not the sulfur. It's the sulfur removal process. It's hard to appreciate the technical and engineering merits of a product (if any) when the marketing guy blurs fact with fiction. I mean, have you seen a FASS video lately?
