i think the name comes from the days of "love child" - daewon may have been the first on film to land one - but i don't think he had a name for it. I think the name is just how people described the flip when they saw it... (maybe someone has the first mag photo of one somewhere?) its a varial flip, the *"hard"* way

Back when I skated, I had great kickflips, but the Hardflip was my signature move. I had it on absolute lock, and I could do it in all 4 stances plus I had ghetto bird. However, they made my Kickflips absolutely terrible. I could barely get them to pop, and the nose would shoot up in the air but not the tail. Any ideas as to why that started to happen to me?

Probably because of the way you flick for a hard flip, which is different from a normal kickflip. You just have to get used to a straight kickflip motion again

I started skating last august and have them figured out. Just have to jump back and scoop a front shuv but also coop forward, there is no real flick, it kinda just does it on it's own. It isn't easy though

i mean out of kickflip, heelflip, varial kick, varial heel, treflip, lazerflip, inward heel, and hardflip, i would say hardflips or lazers are the hardest,

I assume the name comes from them being awkward to spin for some people.(like me) Of course if you can form the trick it only takes commitment and refining your technique.

Most people couldnt do a hardflip (or an inward heel for that matter) consistently back when i skated, so yeah, id say that its hard. The only reason i learned it was that i forced myself to do a fs flip late sex change style abomination first, like a fs flip, but before the catch i just jerked my feet back where they were and hoped for the best. After like a few months of those i learned to do it the right way.

I'm a year later but i think that hardflips ain't that hard, especially cuz i learn hardflips before kickflips, wich is really wierd, but happend with me, and fake hardflips are the annoying ones.
