Nice video! Now, I have been working in health care for several years as a provider (PA) and believe me, MDs are too busy, and don't have time to run the administrative aspect of their clinics (if they own one). They generally hire an administrator to do that. And I agree with you, this is a very good and high paying field to work. I am thinking about going back to school to get my MHA or MBA with healthcare management concentration myself. I am tired of the clinical aspect of the healthcare field, especially in California.

@@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671 thanks alot sir. I am having about eight years of experience as a practising surgeon. I recently did MRCS Edinburgh and will be relocating to UK within few months to obtaining further specialist knowledge. Meanwhile I would like to do an online MBA course as I am much interested to serve a corporate not only as a specialist,but wanna obtain a managerial/ Excutive role.. I am doing lot of research to find a relatively affordable online MBA from a highly ranking University. University of Dublin ( UK) ,and British Columbia are perhaps having lower fee structure,but I am not sure if they will really consider me. I have crossed 40years and COVID delayed this project. I have done lot of selfless service for COVID patients... Anyways,my primary aim for look out is not the time debt,but universities with very good reputations with low fee structures in healthcare management MBA..

What are the pros and cons of competency-based college experience? Compared to traditional classes. Thanks for the video!
@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671 2 жыл бұрын
Great question... The biggest pros of competency based learning are that you can self pace your degree, graduate faster and save a ton of money on tuition. Plus most competency based programs are online so you can get your degree from home. One con is that if you aren't self motivated and you aren't willing to put in the work it can take just as long. If you aren't self motivated and eager to move forward you can find yourself still in school years down the road. But the same goes for traditional school too I guess.

What is the difference between Healthcare Management and Health Leadership?
@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671 Жыл бұрын
They're very similar. Management you'll go deeper into the business side of things. Leadership you'll go deeper into leading teams. Most hospitals will view both as being very similar. I will say, I don't know of any accelerated Health Leadership majors, but there are several Healthcare Management programs that are self paced. So the Management Degree will definitely be faster.

@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671 2 жыл бұрын
Here are some examples of some things you'll do with a healthcare IT degree: Clinical decision support, Computerized disease registries, Computerized provider order entry, Consumer health IT applications, Electronic medical record systems (EMRs, EHRs, and PHRs), Electronic prescribing, Telehealth... As far as job title, it's going to be fairly straightforward. You'll be applying for "Health IT" jobs. Most hospitals and large healthcare clinics have their own IT departments. And they generally prefer Health IT Degrees to traditional IT degrees because you'll take healthcare specific classes on top of your IT classes. Hope this answers your question.

To be honest, it totally depends on which job you're trying to get. Every job has different requirements. Now, I have seen people with both MBA's and MHA's get high level leadership jobs in hospitals. So a lot of the jobs, either one works fine. But if there's a specific job you want, you need to figure out which major is required. I will add, you can "Hack" an MBA in Healthcare Management but I don't know of any MHA programs that are self paced. So if 1 path takes you 4+ year, and the other can be done in under a year... but they both yield the same results, that's something to consider.

There's definitely nothing wrong with making a career switch and having degrees in multiple areas. The only thing you'll need to be aware of is some Master's programs have specific requirements you need to meet before you can get in. There's a possibility that you need to meet a few more undergrad requirements in the healthcare management field before you can jump into Healthcare Management as a Master's program. Hope that makes sense. The cool thing is, if you do need to take more undergrad classes... Degree Hacking makes it a whole lot faster. Most people I work with try to finish an entire class every week. Are you wanting to accelerate the Healthcare Management Degree?

@@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671 I haven't decided yet I am from Greece and I don't know yet if this kind of job is in demand and how many carrer options do I have .I am interested in doing it but I am really afraid that all the cost and the efforts won't lead to a result and that I won't be able to find any job even with my master degree.

It's a great thing to have those concerns. I always tell people to map out their career, then get the degree that's going to open the right doors. I will say that healthcare management is a massive industry, it keeps growing and there are a whole lot of great job opportunities in the field.

It's possible. But it's going to depend on the company. Most pharmacy businesses will likely require their pharmacy managers to be licensed pharmacists.

If you're referring to getting into Med School, it depends on the school you're trying to get into. You'll want to have a clear understanding of what's required before you start. If you're talking about for your career... It depends on what job you're trying to get.

That is not true Michelle. The only clinicians are the ones on the board of directors (e.g. Director of Nursing aka DON). Administrative positions are not clinicians. They are non-direct care professionals with Bachelor’s and Master’s or higher degrees.

I have my bachelors, how can I do the accelerated masters you’re speaking of?
@9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671

Great question. You'll need to choose a Master's program at a University that will allow you to "Test Out" of your classes. It's called "Competency Based Education". I prefer schools that charge a flat rate for each semester rather than charging you per class or credit. This way if you get your Master's in 1 semester you'll only have to pay for 1 semester. It can save you a ton of money. Next, you'll need to self study for each exam. It's a lot faster than going through the schools study guides and lesson plans. I have a free video you can watch that walks you through this entire process. Here's the link to watch the video: www.DiplomaSecrets.com Hope this helps!

They used to accept international but now it's harder to get in if you aren't a US citizen. I've recently seen people from Canada get accepted. It's always worth a shot because they're always changing their policies. I suggest emailing or calling them and asking them. If you can't get in, there are some great CBE programs listed at the bottom of this article: www.mydegreeguide.com/competency-based-degrees/
