Not anymore... Just take an example a person got 93.1933 percentile in JEE mains and on the other hand his friend got just 62% but guess what he gave JEE advanced but other one was not even eligible just because his cut off criteria was 93.5 and his was just 45..... So what about now you really think at 62 percentile person would be better than a 94 percentile person ??? Ofc no but the thing is he will get admission into IIT because vahan bhi reservation uska sath dega. 30 out of 360 that's the cutoff criteria for Him.

Last I checked, No IIT or NIT under a BTech Course teaches Biology, and as far as irrelevant subjects are considered like Drawing, Physics & Chemistry are only taught for the first year and second year onwards you're only taught your course subjects. We need to find this guy and ask him "kya phunk ke aya hai be".

Reasons for the first year curriculum in many colleges: 1) To add familiar subjects so that students do not feel sudden change of study fields 2) Because students can change thier Branch after first year, so a student changing from CSE to Mechanical has to study 1 year of Mechanical course if the first is not about common subjects. 3) Also to give a general perspective to later think upon in the respective branches. Like a CSE student cannot think of contributing anything to Biological fields if he doesnt have the basic knowledge.

When you have to mention IITs and NITs in your introduction before mentioning scalar school, you know where the colleges stand. Imagine your college to be a corporate office, no multidisciplinary courses, no proper fests or cultural stuff. From the first year you are turned into a corporate employee... This will be a hell for someone if he's not made for corporate world, with no escape for him. Atleast in IIT NIT you have professors who can recommend you to places if you opt for research(unlike instructors at scalar who will just push you for a SDE role). You will have other exposure to pursue other careers if IT does not turn out be your thing. One thing good about scalar school is, yes it has curriculum that is very updated, unlike IITs NITs which still teach few outdated courses if not all. But also look at ROI, not everyone can afford the fees at scalar to make projects in first year. Ultimately its personal opinion, I love the life at my NIT and have seen seniors go places and all the top companies, would never spend lakhs to have a slightly better chance for a SDE career sacrificing my college life. It's like dummy school for JEE coaching lol.
