I agree, I like the conversational aspect of the podcast but at the same time I think it would benefit from having one cohesive topic for each episode and sticking more strictly to that topic. otherwise it’s easy to have the same things come up in convo and feel scattered.

I think the reason that people don’t feel so entitled to celebrities inner lives is because they aren’t famous for sharing their inner lives. Influencers become famous for sharing their lives, celebrities become famous for a talent or skill of some sort

When I think of celebrities I think of talent. (Singing, acting, rapping, sports, directing, the arts, etc) Influencers I think of fame. (Not saying influencers can’t also be talented in some ways it’s just a different talent IMO) ie: Academy Awards, Grammys, etc. Neither is better than the other they’re just different categories and that’s okay.
@Lindababiie
@Lindababiie 18 күн бұрын
I think you described it perfectly, but I think of influencers more has having notoriety than fame. Also, their “fame” is more niche because you can have a 1M+ subscribers on any platform and you walk outside and no one knows you outside of that niche but like Naz said a MJ or Beyonce cant just go to their local grocery store without causing havoc.
@joeyu8427
@joeyu8427 17 күн бұрын
@@Lindababiieagreed. Fame is widespread reputation (across multiple mediums like TV, movies, social media, etc) for a favorable character (mostly a talent), which is mainly geared towards entertaining. Influencers have notoriety in a specific medium, social media and their talent is specific to influencing people because of their notoriety but it’s not really entertaining.
@joeyu8427
@joeyu8427 17 күн бұрын
Having said that, influencers can achieve celebrity status because they’re talented. Like many things in life, it’s never black or white. 😂 Also, being invited to the Grammys has nothing to do with your status. People can be invited for so many reasons. If you’re invited to the Grammys…good for you!

I love Naz and usually agree with her takes but I have to disagree when it comes to influencers not being “salespeople”. Influencers jobs are to INFLUENCE people to spend their money on products/services. Brands saw how much INFLUENCE a person on social media has to their audience to get them to run out a buy anything they deem worthy and they decided to capitalize on it. Now I dont think thats an “influencers” only job but its literally in the title.

Love Naz and Yas but I have to disagree slightly with Naz’s opinion on Alexa Demie vs Sydney Sweeney 1) Alexa is in a new show on HBO Max right now 2) The difference in their number of films doesn’t necessarily mean it’s because Alexa is private. In the acting world, if you audition for a role and are both talented and a good fit for the specific film/show, you’re going to get the role 😂 Zendaya is super private and she never shares her personal life and only really seen during press runs. And there’s plenty of other celebrities like this 🤷‍♀️ But I do agree the mystery thing doesn’t work IF you’re trying to become an influencer/content creator

Also Sydney and her fiance are producers which is why she's in "every" movie, Alexa on the other hand has a professional life outside of acting, she doesn't NEED to be movies every year, she has other things paying her bills. Same with Taylor Russell, she doesn't use social media either but she's on every fashion magazine, red carpet and the muse for LOEWE.

Being mysterious doesn't negatively affect one's career imo. I mean Cillian Murphy for example was recently in Oppenheimer lol and he's not on social media at all and he rarely goes to events. Maybe for influencers you need to put yourself out there idk. As for famous actors, I feel like they don't need to be all over social media and always going to events and stuff.

Influencers put their lives online as a job. Celebrities have jobs and as a result of those “jobs” their lives become blasted online. (Not that influencers don’t have jobs or that influencers need to post everything about themselves just the simplest way I could explain)

I work in advertising and they track your sales through the link you provide. They also track as a whole the sales from that product from different retailers during a time period from when your video went live. For billboards, they can estimate impressions through foot traffic data and they can even track sales through TV commercials. All media in some way is measurable or else brands wouldn’t be paying the money they do. :)

I believe people feel entitled to influencers' lives because they share most of their lives online. Their audience knows that because of their engagement influencers will get paid. If their followers don't interact with your content will you get paid? On the other hand, influencers decide what they share with their viewers and what they don't. For example, when Naz decided not to share with us that she was undocumented until she was ready to share on her social media platform.

"I look forward to your podcast every week" Online etiquette towards influencers/celebrities should be a thing because I can't stand people ordering around or being entitled to a persons creative entertainment. 25:56 - I agree with you, Naz. Alexa Demi RARELY posts on her Instagram, and has a very limited social media presence. I see more photos of her on the Alexa Demi fan pages, than on her actual page. Perhaps she likes her privacy and wants to remain mysterious and behind the scenes, but she definitely could have cultivated into the limelight even more and had more movie/tv show deals, if she had an amazing PR Team the skyrocketed her social media presence and placed her in numerous interviews.
