In this video I am going to respond to a video by Luke Miani. He questions the validity of ipads in today's market and how they stack up against the new m2 macbook devices. From my point of view, I use an iPad everyday and I use a macbook most days. So I think there is some nuance that was missing from Luke's original video.

Focusing any regular attention on iPad Pro when the majority of users purchase a regular iPad, an iPad Mini, or an iPad Air really is the silly argument here. Most people are not going for the $1299 model that Luke is having his tantrum over, they are purchasing a $300-500 regular iPad. This gets used for content consumption, web surfing, music, educational apps etc. A perfect example, I am writing this comment on a regular 6th gen IPad from 2018. I also have a 5th gen, and an iPad Mini 2. The absolute sweet spot right now for iPad purchase and use is the 9th gen IPad. New it can be purchased on sale for $250. It is very quick and super useable for the average person or student. The need/use case for a $1299 iPad Pro is, as you mentioned NICHE at best! Great vid, first I’ve seen of yours.

yep. truly the point. for most people, iPad Pro shouldn't be the choice, and if it is, then they probably won't be upgrading every year. Techies can understand that for the iPhone Pro models, but they don't understand that for iPad is odd to me.

I am not on twitter, so I don't know for sure, but i can imagine how twitter can bring the worst out of people. also, when you are on camera, you don't wanna come across as some bitter ass face that is having a meltdown on camera. behind a keyboard, that's alright 💀

5:35 “Full” support for automation? I gotta speak up on that one. 1. I would not call Shortcuts “Full” support for automation. Its support for custom code is still not the same as access to a command line interface like macOS’s Terminal. Custom code can only get you so far with limited access to system level controls. Command-line interfaces are virtually limitless by comparison. 2. Mac had a GUI automation tool LONG before Shortcuts was released. There’s a Mac app called Automator that’s been included in Mac OS for years. It’s likely what inspired Shortcuts in the first place. I love the iPad too, and I agree with your points on how the 10.2” and 11” iPad’s are the ones ‘competing’ with MacBook Air, not the 12.9” iPad Pro, but the Shortcuts and automation comment was a swing and a miss. Great video overall though. 👍

Thank you for the feedback. I agree with you that I shouldn’t have said full support. I was trying to point out that shortcuts on MacOS don’t do automation.

I have an app on my iPhone and iPad called a-Shell mini that’s connected to some shortcuts that actually runs code to do things like downloading insta videos from private accounts
