Joro spiders, giant venomous spiders with 4-inch-long legs, are spreading across the East Coast.

They are beautiful spiders. And their web is GOLD! The silk is actually a golden yellow color. And when the sun hits the web the shimmer is spectacular. We have them here in Ga as they mentioned. But they aren't around daily. They have a season. They start in August and last into October. Before and after that you will never see one. But when they are in season, they are everywhere

The lantern flies are pretty colors too. Really, they are. But they bid fair to harm the fruit growers big time. (How's the South doing with that damn kudzu, BTW?) Spiders aren't scary and snakes.Try eats and roaches in NYC. I think the only reason people have a fear of them is due to Hollywood making stupid movies. There's one movie, I forgot the name but it's about spiders and it's so stupid
@HerrinSchadenfreudeАй бұрын
It's annoying when fear is stoked up like this about harmless animals. They're orb weavers not much different than the ones in the garden. All spiders are venomous. Like, every single type. And yet most are completely harmless to people. This is not flying Brazilian Wandering Spiders for chrissakes.
@lamarw7757Ай бұрын
Not true. "When you think of dangerous spiders, you probably envision black widows and brown recluses. However, most people are surprised to learn that nearly all species of spiders are venomous - only a couple species lack venom glands."

Harm to pets seems quite possible by their size, and if nothing eats THEM here they will soon be out of control like the lantern flies, which THEY eat. They are possibly very dangerous to the ecosystem of North America, like so many Asian species of insect and plant and fish.

Joro spiders are not harmful, and if you do manage to get bitten, it’s just gonna sting for a bit and get a little red, unless you have a rare allergic reaction you really won’t even need medical attention.
